Pairs and suited connectors preflop and flop

Today I was playing in a .25/.50 ring game and I had trouble making a couple decisions. It was a fairly loose table. Firstly, I had a pair of 9s on a rainbow flop which was top pair with about 4 other players in. I was on the button and it was checked to me, so I bet and I think a couple called. I'm thinking this was a mistake since there is a fair chance an overcard will come. Should I have folded?

Another hand I had a pair of sixes in late position and called. there were about 5 other limpers. BB raised and everyone called including me. Should I have called? I figured that since everyone called I would be getting the same pot odds. Was I correct to call?

Next hand I had an AJo and limped in early position, got raised and called. Should I have called?

Always call raises with pps.
Only play post flop if you have either an overpair or a set. Otherwise fold to any betting unless you have a read your opp has nothing.
The set is so hard to detect and is a great hand. Yes, you only hit about 10/12% the time you call with pps. But the one time you hit will make up for the all the calls you have made even in raised pots.
If you have an overpair bet it out. It is highly unlikly you are up against a better overpair (you should know this from preflop betting) Therefore all you have to be carefull of are people who get two pair/straights etc. Just remember not to get attached to your overpair (its good but it may not be the nuts)
AJ is a coversation itself. limping AJ in ep is a good move. :cool:
Its upto you how you play it versus a raise.
You want to see a J high flop. That gives you a good chance of being ahead (beware of overpairs obviously) but an ace high flop (without a jack) is dangerous if the opp comes out betting. His advantageous position is a problem to you here, you could be behind despite hitting your top pair.
imo id fold it, better safe than sorry if you are behind. There may be otehrs who disagree with this but certainly there will be other s who agree that its not as good a hand as it looks even in lp

p.s how much did you bet when the flop was checked to you with pocket 9s? was it also an overpair?

Thanks miffed. I forgot to mention that i was playing limit, so my bet was 25c. About that 99 overpair, should I be worried about them having overcards, because there is a fair chance an overcard to a 9 will pop up on the turn or river and give them top pair.

If your oppoenet has 2 overcards to your 9's he has 6 outs on the turn and the river, which gives him about 25% to beat you, so yes, betting makes sense here. Remeber that even if an overcard hits the turn he may not have this overcard.
When you have two callers and you assume they are both with overcards you are looking at probably 8 (if they share one of the overcards) or maybe 12 outs, even with 12 outs you are about 50%/50%, so again a bet makes sense, especially since you have position.

Regarding the 66 hand, limping or calling a small reraise is good, espcially with a mulitway pot.

AJo is marginal, depends on your read of the player. Most likely you are behind here and folding is not a bad option

Man, you'll never guess what just happened. I was in the exact same situation with the AJo as the one I mentioned in my initial post (early position, and a raise) . The raiser was a loose player btw and could have had any two face cards or maybe even only one face card. This time I spent a while contemplating what to do before I decided to fold. I was pretty sure there wouldn't be another raise though. Anyway the flop comes down with a jack and two blanks. I went damn. Then the turn comes and it was another jack! I was so shitted off!

Before that hand though I had a flush on the turn with a suited 23 and was reasonably sure the other guy didn't have a flush (which of course would have been better than mine). The river comes down with another diamond and sure enough he had one diamond (I think it may have been a nine). I knew he had one by his quick bet but I called anyway because I wanted to know what he had been betting on. Unfortunately I can't remeber but I don't think he had much.
