Are calls like these justifiable?

Given these pot odds I think these calls are correct but I thought I'd check with you guys. I get criticized by the table after the hand is over for them.

The villain bets less on the flop than I do preflop, which is $3 into a $10.50 pot. He criticizes me for calling this, but given that he bet so small isn't this a profitable call in the long run? I was iffy about calling the river bet because I was afraid of the 7 but I went ahead and made the right call. Thoughts? Did I play this correctly?

your play is ridiculously predictable.

There are so many ways you could be beaten on that flop and turn with your top pairs that I wouldn't have called the flop.

The other guy makes the correct play to bet at you on the flop with no overcards. is it so wrong to call? doubt it.
The queen comes so why not reraise it and find out where you are (id reckon at this point you were ahead)
Yeah, there is a case here for just calling preflop, for not calling the flop bet, for being too attached to overcards when you may be well and truly beat and yes you are going to pay off my set or other big hands. But i hope you thought you were in front because on the turn i would have thought i was ahead too.

It's fine. He raises with top pair, decent kicker. He's trying to represent the 7, but by smooth calling your turn re-raise and doing a small bet on the river, he does a poor job of it.

Yes, he may say he's "advanced" and did a value bet to entice you to call the river... and that you had to recognize it was a value bet, representing the 7 and that you MUST FOLD IMMEDIATELY... but it was a small enough bet with a decent pot to call.

Do you think he'd be saying the same thing if the flop was 7-7-Q, he made the same flop bet, then caught an 8 on the turn and say you were lucky to win (because he was representing the 7 on the flop!)

You played it fine. He had a pair of 8's and thought that was good enough to win. He did a horrible job of trying to push you off the hand.

Your re-raise on the turn indicates to him he's beat, but he instead fires off a weak river bet because he's a poor player. He should of saved the extra 5 (unless, of course, he had trip 7's).

Here's another questionable call. After he check raises me the pot is about $34 and its another $10 to me to see the turn and river. This is why buying in shortstacked is a bad idea. If the villain had more chips he could have easily pushed me off the hand, but I think I have odds to call it since he's shortstacked.
