How much $$ are you making?

I'm just curious as to how much you guys are all making. I mean is this something you can really make a living doing? Just post your bankroll and how much you make per day/week/month or whatever and anything else you might like to add. All posts welcome. I'd especially like to hear what some of the higher stakes players have to say.

I play mostly 100NL 6max right now and I try to make around $50-$100 per day playing an hour or two. Bankroll is currently about $1700. Hardly withdrawn anything since I started playing.

It is completely possible to make money online. A lot of players here do it. A few make enough to make a living doing it.

It can be done, but if you are wanting to do it, you're going to have to get away from the "How much did I win today?" mentality.

Downswings can't be made up for in one day (usually). You will have winning days and losing days. Monthly winnings will be a lot more valid data than daily wins and losses. It's all about the long term.

to answer you question i play 10+1 stt's and im up about $950 over about 6 months... i play probally around 8-10 a day..

I play on stars btw if you want to look me up. Yeah I realize that thinking short termis a bad idea, but it just helps to have a small goal like that when I sit down every day.

What I wanted to say here was I realize you are probably trying to get some idea of what is possible, but I am here to tell you that virtually aything is possible and the sky is the limit. Do not sell yourself short by comparing yourself to what other people are doing...or have done.

Figure out what it is you want from playing poker (set the goal) be very specific and figure out a plan outlining how you will get there.

Example: I will work out for 20 minutes a day, five days a week....I will play 1000 hands a day, four days a week of the best poker I possibly can.....I will cash out x$ per quarter or I will increase my bankroll to x$ before considering making a withdrawl. Just make it personal and challenging but attainable - give yourself a reasonable amount of time to reach the goal.

I agree with dave on this. As a daily goal, money shouldn't really figure into the equation. Goals oriented around making consistant sound decisions are a better way to guage how you are improving. If you are doing this, the money will take care of itself. Somedays the cards just don't cooperate and you can play excellent poker and still lose your ass. If you are too focused on the amount of money you won or didn't win, you can walk away feeling like you played horribly when in actuality you made very few if any mistakes.

Winning in the long run is important, but as long as you are making good decisions all the time you will end up a winner.

Where you want to take your poker career/hobby is entirely dependant on how much you practice, the amount of studying you do, and your ability to honestly analize your game for leaks to plug.

My goal has always been to earn a secondary income playing poker, and now, finally ...I am.

I normally rate myself on my play. Results are really secondary. If I made the correct plays during the day then I seen week in and week out positive expectation.

Easy math can show you what is possible.

Lets say you are playing 6 hours a day 4 tables at a low limit like 100nl? Your winrate is decent at 8bb/100 or 8$ every 100 hands.

The average table will get around 50-60 hands per hour, we will go with 50. We can see already that this will run around 16$ per hour, that is a pretty nice hourly wage for someone with his own hours and no education requirements.

We can also see that there is much room to grow considering highest limits online are 2000nl and 100/200 limit+

I realize that "the sky is the limit" and I shouldn't be selling myself short by comparing myself to others... but come on. Could some people just answer the question straight up? Not everyone can be H@££INGGOL and make 10g a week. Dave you said you make enough to have quit your job of 10 years, at what point did you decide to quit (ie how much were you making through poker then and how much are you making now?) Are you making a comfortable living doing this or are you scraping by on 20g a year? I don't mean to be rude by asking this, I just want to get an idea for how much you successful players are making. I believe Fnord recently took a job with blizzard so he can't be making that big of bucks and he's one of the most respected players on this site. Thanks.

Fnord took the job at Blizzard for good reason. I'm sure he is still going to play online or at casinos whenever possible, which is only extra income. Some people like stability, and less mental stress. Plenty of semi-pros do this.

Hell, there are people who live in Las Vegas who have totally different professions (real estate, investing, whatever) and still hit up the casinos on the regular playing decent stakes.

I will never be a pro poker player, but i'll definitely find time to play in good games when the opportunity arises.

Everything you see in my bankroll (in my sig) was made in the last two months. Plus rakeback has paid for all my living expenses, so I dont have to take out of my bankroll.
