Pocket Q's hand/play analysis help please

First of all want to say thanks to all members and Mr Tanaka for all the sound advice and the great website from a NooB.

Situation: $10NL Holdem 10 players .5/.10 blinds
I start with pocket Q's. Grp 1 on Tylers starting hand rankings (Love the strategies page).

I am sitting in mid position seat 5.
Seat 3 Checks
Seat 4 comes out preflop bets .60
Seat 5 (me) call
Seat 3 calls.

Flop is Qc Kh 2c

Yippee I have flopped a set. ( Im a winner............So I think)

Seat 4 bets .60 again
Seat 5 (ME) I call limp in
Seat 3 bets $3
Seat 4 folds
Seat 5 (ME) I call

So I am thinking he has 2 pair K and Q maybe a flush.
So I will slow play him I am odds on fave.

Turn 8h

Seat 4 goes all-in $6.30
Seat 5 (ME) calls

River 5c

His Q high flush beats my lowly 3 of a kind

Grrrrrrrrrrrr

Log off go and punch the wife kick the dog and go brush my teeth with cake frosting and gargle it all down with a can of redbull. Just kidding about the wife and kid though.

Any comments/criticism on my hand play would be most appreciated from the board members here.

First off, wrong forum.

Second, you played the hand perfectly. I'll quote Raymer for this afternoon "Poker isn't about results" It is about decisions. You made the correct decisions.

I don't see any point in just calling on the flop. I think after he raises so big you have to let the cat out of the bag to protect against the exact hand he had. I know the same thing was accomplished on the turn and he sucked out on the river but it is not about the results as they say. You should have raised him all in on the flop IMO. What if instead of the 8h on the turn it was the 8c? You just cost yourself the pot because you were greedy. Make him play incorrectly mathematically. If he calls your all in raise he is doing so incorrectly and no matter what, mathematically you win. And that's all that matters. At the micros there is no point slowplaying hands like this because the fish will pay you off anyway.

I wanto thank you all for your insight and advice. I am still a student when it comes to holdem.

The funny thing is the same exact thing happened to me again today but this time I did bet preflop with AA and still lost to a flush Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
Maybe that is a sign for me to take a break.

I will pay that one off everytime.
You played that hand exactly as anyone would have.... except I probably would agree with ripptyde in that a reraise preflop would have given you more information.
Bad luck, but that's poker.
Keep at it, dont give up, this game is cruel most of the time.
You will win with those hands in the long run.

Just think about the good times and move on. If you let it get to you your only gonna lose more. The same thing happened me yesterday twice in about 20 mins. Like yours with a set and the second time I flopped a straight and a guy called pot sized bets to catch a flush on the river. This kinda stuff happens a lot in the lower limits (which I play too) because people think "I'm only one card away from a flush omg" so your not alone.

I also agree that he made a mistake by just calling pre flop....the guy who had the Queen high flush probably would have been driven out of the hand by a strong raise

I don't want the flush draw out if he's going to move in on the turn when he misses. I don't like to scare people away who are pushing me money.

I don't know what your game is like, but usually a 6xBB will not get many callers. Furthermore, QQ is still quite vulnerable so you don't really want more callers. Reraise this guy preflop.

Gentlemen,
Thanks again for all the responses and feedback. I did end up jumping back (online poker is like crack) in continued playing tight aggressive and stayed disciplined in the way I played. Well thanks to all of your advice I was able to make my bankroll back and then some hehehehe.
Man this is a great site I owe all of you a beer.

And yes I will always be a student of this game thats what keeps it fun and exciting. Thank goodness I have a real job and this is only a hobby! :P

from reading that I came to the easy conclusion that you slowplay too much. When you slow play you never know where you are in the hand thats the big problem with that. Reraise reraise and reraise. Slow play when there is no draws on the board or if you know that the payer doesn't chase.

yeah, definately had a shot to make him pay for it after the flop or turn. Poker is about decisions, and decisions are for the most part betting. Betting the correct amount here, i.e. going A.I. after the flop bet or turn bet makes it an incorrect decision on his part to call mathematically speaking. If you make correct percentage plays consistantly, it will really improve your game. I'm not so sure I would agree w/ the pre-flop re-raise, I'd probably be more worried if I was holding JJ in terms of vulnerability. QQ is a great trapping hand, and you had the trap laid out perfectly on this particular hand until you missed your A.I. opportunity as metioned earlier. That's my take.

And never did you note "op maniac liable to just move his stack in the middle on a draw."

Feel free to raise or reraise at seriously any point in this hand.

When you called the flop, what's your plan if the turn is the 5:club:?
