Good play or revenge poker?
Long post for one question. But if you like poker stories read on.
Last night at the casino it was around bed time for me and I was sitting happy with $550 ($100NL). My bad run seemed like it had finally ended.
So Seat 7 called one of my continuation bets when I missed. We checked it down to the river and he appeared to feel good about calling my bluff.
Later, I'm on the button and have AA. I raise it and get three callers. I wish I had raised it more than 4xBB, but that was the only pfr I had been doing on this table and I didn't want to look suspicious.
Flop 842 rainbow. That flop is fine by me since there are so many people in the hand. I fully expected that we would not see a turn card here.
I bet the size of the pot $60. There's no draw so that should be fine. If they want to call me with a pair of 8's - fine.
Seat 7, the guy from earlier, hit a huge rush earlier and has $900. He takes it upon himself to "keep me honest". He calls, everyone folds. I'm actually really worried that he flopped a set.
Turn is another 2 pairing the board. So if he has the 8, he has two outs left, two pair ain't gonna help him. I bet $75. It's big enough to tell him I'm serious, and small enough for information. And information I get. He makes it $250 total.
This guy doesn't make moves like this. If he's starting now, then more power to him. I put him on the full house, and I fold. To my surprise, he shows me a 2.
Later, I do something stupid. I bluff at him with my missed draw trying to represent a slowplayed T on a TTQ7A board. He was betting small the whole way down, I thought he only had a Q, but with $1200 in front of him, that was a boneheaded play on my part. He of course CALLS. Yes, he only calls me with AT full house.
So here's the hand in question.
I have $250 left. Seat 7 has taken a vast majority of my stack in just twenty minutes right before I was going home. I felt crappy.
Seat 7 has $1100 or so. The other two callers in this hand have around $150.
Seat 7 raises it to $30 (10xBB) UTG. Very large pfr. He still gets two callers! I look down and have pocket 6's. 8:1 to hit my set. 8x30 is $240. So do implied odds tell me I can call this? Can I be sure that I will get my money back from Seat 7 if I hit my set? There are also two callers here. Normally, I just fold this (which may be the bad move). But last night I wanted my money back and my poor math skills told me I was justfied in making this call.
Anyway, this turned out to be my favorite hand of all time. Flop was KK6. Seat 7 bets $25 (very small for a $120 pot). One other caller, I smooth called. Turn is a Q. Check Check. I bet $65 knowing he will call that amount to "keep me honest" again. Seat 7 calls me. Other guy folds. Is Seat 7 slowplaying quads? He wouldn't raise it 10XBB with KQ. If he has either, he can have my stack here. He checks the river. I go all in. He calls with pocket aces. Lol! Revenge! (It felt great that I was able to get away from my aces and he wasn't. But whatever, he still had more money than me).
I win $585, putting me back over where I was before my slide. Was my math correct here, or did I make a move on tilt?
