Would you make this fold?

Does anyone think I made the correct play by folding even though I would have won if I called. I gave the guy credit and put him on a high pair when he limped then reraised allin. I figured it was a coinflip at best, so I didn't want to risk half my stack on that.

I'm happy with the fold. I kept a good stack the whole time and finished 2nd with my top pair to a made straight on the river.

Difficult to say, but I personally would have called. You did face two all-in's after you acted, but even if you called and lost you would have roughly 700 chips, which would be plenty of chips to work with considering how low the blinds are. Even if you figured you were up against JJ or QQ, you win about 45% of the time anyway, I would call.

I was in a MTT last week in this same situation. I raised about 4xbb w/AK in EP and then the guy two to my left pushed. I ended up laying it down preflop after much deliberation because midway through a tourney I'm not looking to get into a coinflip - or worse, be dominated by AA or way behind KK. I say, 'good discipline'. Too early here to put all your chips in with a hand that needs help.

erase this from your mind. once you folded, you would not have won. The question is, should I fold my AK after raising a limper, seeing two calls and an AI re raise from the limper early? What happens after that is not important and you'll jump off a bridge if you keep thinking that way.

With no reads I think a fold is fine here. Note that this wasn't just a limp re raise, this was limp, watch a RAISE and TWO CALLS and then he moved in... that just has to be a big hand, he is expecting to get called here. In this case he's overvaluing QQ dramatically IMO, but oh well. You have to give him at least AK/QQ here leaning heavily toward AA/KK.

I apologize for the 'even though I would have won' comment. I don't think about the 'what ifs' as much as that implied. I said that I'm happy with the fold, and I didn't mean to put that much emphasis on that statement.

shit im undisciplined. I woulda called. Gotta keep this hand in mind next time I play. Folding isnt a bad idea.

What hands do you call with?
AA and KK only? QQ?

VQC - just look at the action after his large PF raise. This says to me that I'm against multiple PPs. If it folds around after the guy pushes and I'm giving him the pot if I fold my decision is less clear. Some people will push any ace if they feel pressured by the blinds - I'll call if I think that's the case. But here, the blinds are really low and the 5xbb raise got no respect. He has no idea where he stands.

I would definately fold this. I like to see flops and then outplay people. Even if he had pocket two's it's still a coinflip! Why race when you can outplay them later in the tourny?

now if I was sure that it would be a 3 way AI my AK against two PPs QQ or under, and I still have chips left if I lose, I'd probably go with that. Big stack is g00t and more and more I feel like the key to SNGs is fold equity + willingness to gamboooool.

VQ - on the other side of all this talking, moron did call with A7s!!!??At higher buy ins the action clearly indicates KK or AA, but this may be a spot where I'm just not used to the bizzare play at the 10 level. I mean, A7s must be dominated here, you can't call the first raise, let alone the second. I guess my default read is TAG and I go from there, so early I'd assume AA KK. But maybe default read here should be different? Seeing play like this makes me think playing QQ-AA (maybe even JJ??) and AK in the face of anything pre flop might make sense.

This was a $10 SnG. You do see a higher percentage of people that overvalue aces and pocket pairs. However, I find it much much safer to assume that players are calling with decent cards until I see otherwise.

And honestly, I folded because I put a higher chance of facing AA or KK over everything else. I really don't see QQ slowplayed like that very often. But you'll be amazed at how often people will limp in for 15 chips from first position with AA.... only to raise hell when one of the other 5 limpers beats them somehow.

Actually, the push limited it down really well. The only hands ahead of me were pocket pairs. I like to assume player have some skill before I label them, so the push basically limited his hand (in my eyes) to JJ-AA, with about 75% on the top two pairs. The other 2 I just made a general assumption of hands. I figured they had anything from middle pairs to suited face cards to decent aces.
