    Default Using Macs

I have a question. I'm about to buy my first computer. I want to get a Mac but have been told it doesn't match up well with some sites and particularly doesn't incorporate the tools very well such as Poker Tracker and Poker Office. Is this true? And does anyone have any reccomendations or advice on this?

I've been using Poker Copilot for a while and it works great. It's not as full featured as HeM or PT3 but it is much cheaper and simpler to use.

PokerTracker works on mac, these days. The full version costs $90 (as opposed to Poker Copilot's $70), but you can buy a PokerTracker MicroStakes version for $45, which if fully functional for stakes up to and including $0.10/$0.25 (no limit). Then later on you can pay the other $45 and get the higher stakes unlocked. I'd say PokerTracker is your best bet, having used both (although I haven't used Poker Copilot in the last ~six months). The good news is that Poker Copilot comes with a 30 day trial and I think PokerTracker still comes with a 60 day trial, so you can check both out and decide for yourself which you prefer.

As far as sites are concerned, if you're playing at either PokerStars or Full Tilt Poker then you're fine, they support mac beautifully. Same goes (although to a slightly lesser degree of awesomeness) for sites on the Cereus network (Absolute Poker and UltimateBet/UB) and sites on the OnGame network (a few here, bwin, betfair, tower poker, look around). All those mentioned have a downloadable mac client, there're also other sites that claim to support mac but only through in-browser flash interfaces, and these are pretty weak.

    Hope that helps.

I know this is an old thread but thought I'd share some thoughts as a Mac user.

kiwiMark is right in saying that PokerStars, Poker Copilot 2 and PokerTracker3 are all compatible with Mac and work fine.

I definitely suggest trialing products before buying. What I found was while Copilot is very user-friendly, a lot of key stats are missing e.g. % pre-flop opens from EP, MP etc. PT3 requires a lot more time and effort to set up and understand, however it is a much more powerful program and thus a far better investment.

Also, it's not quite as pretty but does the trick:
ProPokerTools Odds Oracle is the Mac equivalent of PokerStove.

I'd stick with PCs too. You get all those sorts of issues using a MAC.

When I'm out on the street with my Mac, I def feel cooler. But you can't aim with it, more of a point and spray piece, so best to have an alternative in your pocket for when greater accuracy is needed.
