Default PokerStars Weekly News Update 4/09/2012

1.) PokerStars Sunday Storm 1 Year Anniversary - To celebrate the 1-year anniversary of the $11 Sunday Storm, PokerStars is upping the guarantee to $1,000,000 on April 15th. First place will be at least $150,000. There are satellites and qualifiers running around the clock in the MTT and SNG lobbies.

2.) Norwegian Poker Passport - Players can win a poker passport to the live event of their choice, up to $18,000. Events to choose from include the PCA, EPT grand final, EPT events, or even WSOP tournaments. To qualify for the online qualifier final, just earn 2,000 VPPs between now and May 31st. There are also satellites running each Tuesday and Saturday for the main final.

3.) Taiwan Freerolls - Players in Taiwan can win some extra money by playing in exclusive PokerStars freerolls. The tournaments run Sunday-Thursday at 21:00 local time. Just navigate to the Tournament lobby and click on the regional tab to find an event.

4.) PokerStars Zoom, the fast-paced game that has replaced Rush Poker, has increased the stakes offered. At first, the only games running were $.01/$.02 blinds, but since then, PokerStars has been adding stakes all the way up to $2.50/$5.00. It also seems there is an option to block playing at tables with certain other players. While this might make it take longer to fill a table, it can help you avoid tough regulars.

4 - Blocking players just seems weird. I don't understand the point of this?

I'm guessing it is like a reverse fish finder. One can block out the good players and be left with mediocre players and fish.

As far as I know PokerStars Zoom doesn't allow you to block certain players, and I haven't heard of any intentions to add this option.

I'll be double checking to make sure.

I'm trying to track down where I came across that, but the news I read made it sound as if you could request not being sat with other players. Perhaps it was just a recommendation or suggestion, and not something that has already been implemented.
