How many errors did I commit with AQo?

Default How many errors did I commit with AQo?

My hindsight has figured out multiple "errors" that occurred with my play. However, for the sake of getting an education, I'll post as objectively as possible (along with what I was thinking AT THE TIME I made each decision). Thank you very much in advance for your constructive feedback.

$2/$5 NL. Live, 9-handed. The button straddled to $10. SB folded. I am in BB with . My stack is ~$340. I felt uncomfortable in this position because the table has had a loose/LAG feel the past 10-15 hands (meaning multiple limps, someone raises 5-8x, multiple callers). I feel afraid that if I raise, get multiple callers then don't hit the flop, then I'm creating a low SPR and that I will be afraid to commit. So I call $10. Multiple callers behind (six in total). Preflop pre-rake pot $60.

    Flop:

My SPR is ~6-7. I hadn't shown strength preflop so I decide I'm not committed, and will evaluate action behind me and try to draw to nut flush. I check. So does everyone else.

    Turn:

I suppose I could have bet here, but prefer to keep the pot smaller if I can. I check. Again, so does everyone else.

    River:

I have hit the nut flush. I'm thinking about how much to bet. Villain, he is one seat to my left (has me covered, stack = ~$625, seems like a tight-passive player, but really I don't have a reliable sample of reads to know for sure) - he acts out of turn. He fires a bet of what looked like $50. The card dealer stops him. I tell the table "I was just thinking". I decide to check (rationale: I'm hoping he's betting trips or a lower flush). All else fold to me. I check-raise to $120. He thinks for about 15 seconds, then says "alright, if you've got it, you've got it. I'm all-in." I'm frustrated as ever. The speech! Now I don't feel so good about my nut flush. I thought for a while. I say out loud: "I have overcommitted myself." I call. Villain flips over . Sigh.

Please dissect away. I am mostly interested in your comments on where my rationales may be faulty. Thanks again.

I know you don't want to feel pot committed, but a healthy bet on the flop prolly has him fold, especially if you thought he was a tight/passive player. Once that turn card hit, you were screwed out of that pot, he was calling anything and the only cards to save you were clubs or jacks.... I think its an unfortunate break, but I would rather take down a pot early then get bludgeoned on the river like that.

Raise Pre-flop. Put some money in on the flop.

    You're playing on scared money.

    This.
You need to bet in order to define the other hands. T8o from a tight passive player should never see the flop. As played, you are 100% blind, and have NO information on your opponents' hands, And no reads either, obv.
OR, if you don't feel comfortable with the LAG style the table is playing, stand up and get some fresh money.

    Bet flop 100%.

He thinks for about 15 seconds, then says "alright, if you've got it, you've got it. I'm all-in."
Like you said, it's "the speech". Think about your check-raise on the river and have a plan in advance for what to so if he ships over. Is the K-high flush really doing that along with "the speech"? What's he going to call with after your check-raise?

In my experience (and I've been in your exact situation and paid off the f'in boat, too. Sigh.) the shove over on the river on a paired board with three-to-a-flush on board is always a full house, especially when you're holding the nut flush.

I think river bet size or c/r size is important. Not sure what the right amount is, but it needs to be enough to get a baby flush or trips to call but also enough for you to get away without being committed after the speech and shove. (With deep enough stacks, of course.)

    If could have been worse.

    "Do you have quads?"

I lost a stupid big pot once because I missed that tell...

    bet flop
    as played bet turn
as played fold to his river jam. remember the strongest flush he can possibly hold is still going to be shit-scared of the ace of clubs. think about what he did on the river and try to determine if anyone ever would do that (including the out of turn bet and silly speech, not to mention his bet/3b shove line) with a worse hand than yours
