Who's ready for the first HU game of the Gauntlet??

DO NOT REGISTER EARLY!! I will delete anyone from the Gauntlet that no shows no matter how many posts or who you are.

Is 5k chips and 10 min levels a little bit excessive for a HU shoot-out?

You wouldn't. I may go unregister now...

I would hope to see anyone who preregisters for a HU game and then sit out gets banned from the gauntlet. Currently the same six people preregistered for both today and Sunday, one of whom has posted in this thread since jyms told us not to preregister.

It's HU. Sitting out will just give the other person seated with you a free double up, which is not fair.

won't it also mean that everyone will likely be sat waiting for sitouts to blind out before later matches or do quicker finishers play the next finisher etc.
  7. #7
I'd vote for sitouts in this one getting a site ban let alone a gauntlet ban.

I assume when there's an odd number of players, one table will be three handed, I think that's how they work. I could be wrong.

People blinding out won't take so long because it will just be steal steal steal, but it will still be very lame.

I think the games where the winner of a table has to wait for other winners are the shootout games. This isn't a shootout, which means table winners should instantly move to empty seats. I'm just not sure if there will be an odd player waiting for a seat, I hope not. Certainly I expect final table to start three handed.

Yeah it'd be really funny me saying sitters should be banned from the gauntlet, then not being able to log on to unregister or take part.

    Funny for everyone but me.

Byes are a normal part of HU tourneys, you never play 3 handed.

    This isn't a shootout
it is labeled in the stars client "HU Shootout"

looks like I am getting into next round without having to knock anybody out.Better go and rail another game then
  18. #18
21 players. First round has 5 tables running. Two players sitting out on the 5 tables playing, including a player who won one of this season's earlier gauntlet games. Maybe a heads up could be scheduled later in the season when we have fewer players.

Just saw OngBonga knocked out>His opponent only had 4 outs on river and he hit his 2 to for a straight draw>poor play which was unjustly rewarded. That definitely qualifies as a bad beat
  20. #20
I know this would have been more useful earlier, but in general I'm not sure why there are HU events, isn't the point to see everyone and mock them when they play bad?

problackbird got blinded out in second round match, sat out first table on his own,
eberetta sat out first match was playing in the second round match.

    hcd4stars & Jac5858 both got blinded out

    HU shootouts suck balls.

My bad beat was made all the more tiling by the fact that I'd recovered from being blind raped for the first 2 minutes. Nearly 20% of my stack while I reset the router. That's some fast raising. I hope he's a nonposter who gets booted from the gauntlet.

hcd4stars is already registered for the next game, and was preregistered well in advance of the start of this one. Boot his ass imo.

jac registered late for this one, he wasn't one of the six who signed up particularly early, so maybe he had a legit problem. Still, he had one post as of his win last week, so I won't cry if he gets booted.

Game still running, about to go to 4 tables so still some distance. I don't feel HU shootouts are a good format, too much waiting for tables to finish.

Blinded out in 2nd round? Strange.

IF I need to change the format a little let me know. I can make minor changes for Sunday and the next time HU comes up. The format was posted int he sched so I assumed it was ok.

Blinds at ten minutes too... turbo this shit if we're gonna play HU shootouts.

5 minute blinds will make this a lot less tedius I feel. I like HU games and it's good poker so I don't want to see them abandoned, but 10 mins too much when people have to wait around for rounds to finish. I think that's possibly the only adjustment needed, other than to boot or warn sitters.

I concur with that. Dragging on too long and got to get up for work in morning so cannot play as I would wish to just pushing all in now.

My 2 pair were not enough against StarMike's poker!

Just an opinian. I think that 5k and 10 min level are too much. It's 00:20 WET and they are still playing. Maybe 2k or 3K and 5min level is ok.

    Enjoyed though!!!

I took my seat in the first match within 1 minute of match startup, but I was given a bye. Tough to play when no opponent opposite me. I knew I should have said 'boo' in chat or taken a print screen. People always wanna mess with me. Even my post #18, before Keith's post, mentions I saw two sitouts in the first match.

5 hours in and the final table is still going. Definitely need to speed up the game. But I enjoyed playing HU, hopefully the format can be improved for future games.
  34. #34
And I can confirm that hcd4stars did not show up -- I blinded him out in the first round.
  35. #35
yeah I was glad I lost because I was going to have to open jam every hand in the last match, need half the level time or half the stacks.
  36. #36
Out in the 3rd round because AA>KK surprisingly.

Enjoyed playing HU but I prefer 6m/FR for the gauntlet. Levels needed to be faster imo.

I think both would be ok (2.5K and 5min level time).

I actually found the slow structure fun while playing, but waiting for an hour for the other tables to finish was a real pain. I wonder if there's a format where players who have finished can immediately start their next round.

I think that would be a non shootout style. It could result in one stack at the table being much higher than another. Speeding up the blinds will help with this.
