    Default FTR is so SLOW

FTR has been so slow loading, esp if you are replying to topics/creating new topics.

I think it has to do with the forum conversion in progress.

I think it has to do with all of those donk and go hands that are clogging up the tubes when people try to talk about real poker.

I find it really slow every day, maybe like 5% of my clicks each day take 1 min to load.

What browser are all you guys using? Does using a different browser make a difference?
  15. #15
Safari under Mac OS isn't slow per se, but every now and then there's a page which just won't load (or perhaps is taking > 30 seconds to show any sign of loading; I'm not that patient, but will check next time and report back).

IE both home and at work. And sometimes it takes up to 5 mins for page to load. Only forum pages tho, article paages are always instant.

I just switched back to mozilla because chrome is horrendous and is having other issues as well with my mouse.

    Is it any better now?
  20. #20
So far, but every fix has worked temporarily. I am on mozilla for now until chrome fixes itself.
  21. #21
I haven't come across the problem I outlined above since your post.

Nothing more frustrating than trying to snag a peek at FTR in the morning and it's running at 1/100th the speed of other websites.

Some things just never change, the sun sets in the west and FTR is still the slowest site on the internet.

Loading... FTR vacation, this is pathetic.

still painfully slow (more than usual)? damnit... host said they did something.
  28. #28
tbh I can't remember FTR ever really having a "fast" forum, but it has been worse than usual for the past while.

For what it's worth - I'd be willing to chip in a few bucks to upgrade to a better host or something. We're all poker players after all, right? Who can't spare a couple BIs to help the community?

I'm notifying our host now and will ask them to try something else.

If our forum speed isn't improved after switching to vBulletin, we will consider changing hosts.

has been better for me today, say 3-5 seconds for a load vs sometimes a minute/just give up on Wed.

    From our host:

I have checked the forum and posts on Firefox, Opera and IE (from Linux & Windows machines), but I don't feel any difference on page loading on IE compared to FF and Opera. I am sorry, currently I am not able to check this from Chrome. I cannot found any difference on page loading on IE so far. However, we will monitor this for some time. In the meantime, can you please let us know if this issues reporting from any specific locations, ISPs etc? If so, can you please provide a traceroute to the domain from that location

Gator, can you provide any of this info? Your ISP, your IP addy, etc.?

Is anyone else having this slowness when using specific browsers (as opposed to another browser)? And who is your ISP/what is you IP addy?

It should be faster now that we're on vBulletin.
