Leak confirmed. Won't go into details as I don't want it to spread more (although it may already be too late) but I will say they didn't get it from FTR.... Seeing if Stars can change our password, but no guarantees. Sorry if a billion freetrollers show up.

It wasn't leaked originally, it was just easy to guess.
  12. #12
ya, we didn't create the passwords. we're working on getting it changed, if possible.
  13. #13
    1600 registered now, well done

You can actually register for any of these. You can register for the FTR 029 event too if you know how to break the code for the first event. How silly is that?

Whoever did it is a "qualified member" so we know there is a mole within, and they post on a Romanian freetroll site. We will narrow this down and attempt to close it. Might also make it more difficult to become qualified.

Less than one hour to go until this event starts! The password has now been released to Qualified Members!
  29. #29
I personally think it's bullshit to have FTR giving things like this away in their name and no chance of an FTR qualified member winning many of these seats. 5K runners and I don't see a name I know. I don't think the password system works.
  30. #30
So what would you replace it with? There is no other option. We can't get a site to manually register players - that would take both sides far too long. We can't restrict it to just people who signed up through us because we're trying to reward people who use the forum. Any other ideas?
  31. #31
Is someone automatically changed to 'qualified' after their 5th post or is it manually updated?

5th post in a month you mean? Added automatically
  33. #33
Right, so as soon as the p/w is released to qualified members someone could sign up and make 5 random posts and ninja the password?

  34. #34
Nope, 20 posts minimum (then 5 a month on top of that) and you can only make 5 posts a day for the first 2 days so you'd have to be a member for at least 4 days and make 5 posts a day first 3 days
  35. #35
Ah I see, sounds solid. Hope you catch the mole, the fact that I speak several eastern european languages is just a coincidence I swear, just ask me on ICQ if you want to

Ya I don't have any ideas. I'm not sure if there even is one to be honest. I've always felt the systeem could be better and we are not the only one frustrated by this. Pokerstars I am sure don't want the same 5K players just playing in every freeroll either since the goal is to get more traffic through these events.

In Ontario we had a problem in the past, with there being more health cards in circulation than the actual census poll claimed there to be in the province. There was 5K people in this freeroll, but how many people are actually qualified to play through all the different ways we allow the password out? Is there a way to do a ticket system? Individual passwords? Maybe if you have 3122 people qualified you give out 3122 different passwords that can only be used once. That way giving aways the password would forfeit your ticket when someone else used it? Not even sure this is possible.

One of the reasons I think it bothers me is I would gladly play more FTR events even for the smaller prizes while trying to build a SSNL bankroll myself, but sitting in a 5K player field for $10 or a sat ticket is insane.
  37. #37
Yeah, jyms. We want to prevent this at all costs. No one benefits from a 5K person freeroll. We want to keep the player pools small, but it's an imperfect system. We kicked a few people out of qualified members that we thought may be leaking the pw, and will continue to monitor it.
  38. #38
@jyms - individual passwords would be a cool idea, but it would have to involve Pokerstars making some sort of algorithm to automate it all based on usernames and have the tournaments accept those passwords and I really don't think they have enough interest. We'd also have to develop a system to give out all these individual passwords, which isn't so much of a problem. But no poker site would ever want to put resources into something like that

Do you play the end of month Pokerstars tournament, or the Ladbrokes tournaments or the PartyPoker tournaments? All have less than 100 people every month with hundreds added.
  39. #39
I'm currently back on Stars and will play in the Money added tournaments when I can, I'm not a direct sign up since I played on Stars before I found FTR. As soon as I can spread my tiny BR I will probably put some on other sites to play renouncement more.
  40. #40
when you say 'when I can' is it a free time issue or a roll issue?
Congratulations, you've won your dick's weight in sweets! Decode the message in the above post to find out how to claim your tic-tac
  41. #41
I've never been one to play by strict BRM and it's partially the reason I am where I am with no real roll to speak of. Mostly it's just time, but more like remembering these events are available.
  42. #42
    30th of every month - ftr $3.30 on stars - $250 added - don't forget!

Would stake you for for lulz

can't you make it so that there is a qualified members webpage where forum members can enter their screen names for each site that you run a qualified members tourney on . submitting the form would then just add those screennames onto a list for each site wh8ich would then be submitted each month and the site issues a ticket. Should be relatively simple for the sites to automate the process to read the list and issue the ticket.

The first couple of stars tourneys were like the old days , good table banter and playing against people that you know. Lately it seems to be dominated by eastern europeans and table banter is dead.

instead of making it x nummber of posts to become qualified , could you bring back an element of the old system annd make it 2 or 3 months of regular posting. Then you are rewarding the genuine people who are likely to stick around and continue posting . rather than the hit and run brigade loooking for a quick route into added money tourneys.
  44. #44
Sites don't have any interest in doing anything like that unfortunately. Issuing tickets is normally done by reports rather than usernames as far as I know, which is why its easy to do for tracked signups but not for anyone else.

We can definitely look to change the Qualified system, and we're looking at doing that in the next few months anyway as well as adding in a way of seeing who has seen the password. At the same time, the number of active players who do play on the forum would not be enough to keep getting the same level of added value if we reduced the number of people who entered, so we do want to find a good middle ground.

Keep the feedback coming though please, it'll all be taken onboard
