This is so odd to me though. Can someone explain why leaking a password is profitable? Why would you want more players in a freeroll? The prize doesn't get any higher

And I guessed it at 11am

You're very good at this guessing game...I'll send you your $20 Play Money chips later.

jyms, I have no idea why people share the password...

from what i remember when i looked up some freetroller sites when the stars turney was geting blitzed with randoms before the "qualified member" was launched . if they supply a valid password they get some "points" which then allows them to access all the other passwords that are on the freetroller sites. So the EV they lose by having more people in the tounament they do have access to is cancelled out by the EV they gain in all the tournaments they wouldn't normally be able to play.

or you could say they had fuck all chance of winning anything in 1 tounament but they might luckbox their way to a min cash in 100 tournaments they wouldn't have legitimately been allowed to play without gatecrashing.

how about releasing the password now via pm to the people who have played in the recent stars qualified member eventsand regular BC posters. People that spring to mind are daven, luco, rong, ongie, some guy called Pascal,kiwimark,cobra_1878,daviddem,me,rpm, ,eugmac, petulie, doubleJ,pokerking, mondayscool ,chemist
  29. #29
First because that's a lot of work - it would have to be done manually. Secondly, because you'll still get it 20 minutes before as Qualified Members. I don't understand the benefit?

Apparently you posted the password in the forum???
  44. #44
Only things I can think of:

    1) Stars made the new password still too similar (not sure since I don't know the others)
    2) A mod leaked the password to a freeroll site (lol unlikely)
    3) Someone picked up on the password from jyms post (which was edited by me) and didn't register or release it until today. (unfortunately this is probably the most likely)

There was no way for any member to view the pw, so as far as I can tell, it has to be one of those 3.

oh the irony and feeling of entitlement from a member who's only posts have been in this thread and signed up on the day of the first freeroll.
  47. #47
It wasn't me or my attempt to claim the $20 .

Stars uses a combination of 6 numbers and lowercase letters and they have no limit to the amount of times you can try to register. How hard is it to run a script to try every combination of passwords?
  48. #48
What did your post say before it got edited? Did it give out any/all of the password?
  49. #49
I used FTR cards adn Cap letters and it was in English so hard to decipher I am sure. It was like, you need a U and a and a M and a C and a What and a I and a DID and a THERE something

Confirmed. It was definitely NOT the password.

yes it was. i edited it when i saw it changing a few letters/cards.

script is also possible too, not sure of the complexity of that, though.
  52. #52
Would it be possible to jsut use tickets and instead of having passwords you give tickets to all that are qualified when you announce the event instead of announcing it and having people show up hoping to just play the event and asking or searching for passwords? You have a ticket system for the "direct sign up freerolls" so why not everything? Why not issue tickets? What are the stumbling blocks?
  53. #53
It's just not feasible in terms of work, mainly on the poker room side of things. The ticket system works perfectly for direct signups because automated reports exist which can be run to distribute tickets to anyone signed up via a signup. On the other hand, most rooms don't have any automated process for assigning tickets manually and we don't want to ask them to do it manually.

Additionally, there's no denying the tournaments are good for advertising our Facebook page (for example). Some tournaments we do try and keep just for the Qualified Members but I doubt this tournament, for example, would have got even 50 runners from active members who can play on Stars.
