It's actually not about simple post-count anymore.

How about this for a idea. Make the free rolls a $5 buyin tournament with all qualified members getting an automatic 5$ prize for participating. This means that for qualified members it will still be a freeroll and hopefully stop the freetrollers trying for a shot at free money. And if non qualified members still want to take part then it adds to the total prize fund available.
  6. #81
edit: previous post seemed to duplicate when i edited it .
The downside would be that its not then a reward for the active members exclusively.

Thanks for your suggestion, but logistically, it's not feasible. How do you imagine we would work out the $5 refund for a select group of qualified members? Process it manually? No way.

    out of curiosity....

    1. would we have been contacted already if we were in this elite fraternity? (lol
    love that phrase)

    2. how often is the list updated(people added or removed)?

    Listen up, password trolls!!

The content on FTR is MUCH more valuable to your poker bankroll than winning $1.12 in some silly-ass freeroll. If you REALLY want the big monies from poker, get in the content forums and learn something.

I think the mods are looking to reward folks who come here to learn and stay more than a week. (No, they haven't told some "elite" club what the criteria are - we know who we are by the guidelines Xianti's stated in this thread.) Try using FTR to improve your game for a coupla months, and you just might find you learn enough about poker so that you don't NEED to freeroll whore to build a roll.

But quite honestly, even though I am a new member and will happy to contribute because I gaurantee I have been playing poker A LOT longer than a lot of you "Moneymakers", I still would like to play the freerolls.... Im sitting at work, and thats all there is to do, so call me a password troll if you wish, but the fact is it should be a bit friendlier than that...

One more thing.... A lot of you complaining about "password trolls" are just mad because the more people in the tourney, the chances you have to win... But isn't that how you get better? Or maybe you don't have what it takes anyways.

Actually no, the freeroll is for our members, and not the ones who just joined today. Most of us here don't care about the money and have asked that they do them for free or just some tee shirts to keep you trolls away. We really just don't like our forum littered with people here just to get a password to make a couple bucks. We like playing against each other, but allow the newer members to have achance to make a couple bucks for their time.

yeah please only allow the cool people to play in the tourneys. I am glad we have this secret "code" as too which only the elite members can play. I can only hope one day I too am allowed to play and win 2 dollars and thirty four cents.

Excuse me, but no, it should not, because FTR is a perfectly friendly place for someone to contribute - either long time players (like you say you are), noobies, or winning players. Trust me, the post count doesn't have to be too high or over too long a period. These freerolls and money-added tourneys occur frequently throughout the year, so restricting access to (some of) them just encourages folks to get involved in the content forums (posts in the commune don't count).

FTR is a great place to hang out and discuss poker, either helping or getting help or - like most of us - doing both. Do it a while, and you're welcome at all the FTR events. What could be friendlier than that?

FTR is FREE, so advertising and affiliate $$$ make it possible to have promotional events. Those revenues require FTR to have a certain volume of traffic and referral business. Othewise, FTR would have to become a paid-membership site, which would suck. The powers that be are simply using certain promotions to enhance FTR, and keep it free so everyone can benefit. Password trolls don't generate any benefits to the FTR community.

    P. S. I'm not a mod a representative of FTR. Just a reg here. I'm just telling you how internet economics work. I'll be happy to see you posting good stuff soon in the content forums.

    Peace.

Ok i so i gathered i need quality posts to play in your freerolls here. That is cool i just wish i didnt have to hunt for it EVERYWHERE. lol i figured it would of been in the FAQ but its not. Anyways i look forward to chatting with you all and eventually playing the freerolls with you all. Its gonna take me a long time to get that many posts though. I agree 100% with the restriction though because i was a member of another forum and there is like no restriction policy and people are just stealing passwords and spamming and they dont do anything about it.

So i'm happy to be here and learn. I am no pro i'm building from the ground up. No Deposits straight Ferguson challenge lol. Wish me luck.

i'm happy when forums have criteria that needs to be met before playing, it truly helps keeping the games clean of thieves and donks.. though i may not be able to play yet, i hope to soon.. i've played a few buy ins with you guys and i've enjoyed the games so far here..

i'm on a ton of forums and it always cracks me up when i see people like this who FIGHT for pw thief freedom! .... i'm actually a freeroll whore , if you like that term.. but i'm also a small buy in whore, a league whore, etc...

i love the online forum aspect of online poker. i love being a part of so many forums, meeting so many people and playing a ton of poker for free... i'm a stay at home DAD who simply cannot afford depositing and i've never deposited yet. because of forums like FTR, i've been able to build decent bankrolls on a few sites and I also play a ton more buy ins, mostly league stuff..

i just think its hilarious when people try and make pw sharing seem GOOD... i just laugh, shake my head and pray these donks dont get in lol....

    1:Bluffing too much

Most rookies have watched too much Hollywood movies and are convinced that poker is all about bluffing. Somehow they think that if they just keep betting, everyone will get out of their way. That is unlikely, cause a habitual bluffer is easily indentified by his opponents early on.

    2: Lack of patience

Playing poker means you'll go through long stretches of sheer boredom waiting for good cards. Rookies often dont have the patience to wait for quality cards, so, out of boredom they start playing hands they know they shouldnt. DONT LOSE YOUR PATIENCE, FIND IT.

    3; Playing unaffordable limits

Nothing is more dertrimental to your confidence, and your bankroll, then gambling with money you cant afford to lose. You simply cant make smart decisions when you are also worrying about how you are going to pay the rent if the Q of spades doesnt bail you out on the river. It is very important to play within a budget you feel comfortable with. You will be able to focus on the game rather than the financial implications.

    4: Drinking alcohol while playing

You need to have all of your witsabout you in order to make quality decisions at the table. Its no coincidence that casinos offer free alcohol to customers. Booze clouds your judgment and will have you making plays you wouldnt have considered making with a clear head.

5: Quitting while you are ahead

Sorry to burst your bubble, but there is no system for figuring out when its time to pack up and leave. The worst plan that many rookies utilize is the one where they hit and run by quitting after small wins, but CONTINUE to play when tey are behind. If anything, that is exact opposite of what you should be doing. When you are winning, you have a powerfull table presence that you should exploit. When you are losing, that table image is tarnished and can have a negative effect on your confidence.

    6: Playing in tough games

Beginners, some of whom arent even all that bad at poker, will often place themselfs in games against competition they just can handle. Rather then playing in smaller limit games against opponents of comparable skill, they prefer to go head to head with the bigger players. You can guess how that usually turns out.

    7: Elevated ego

No, you are not as good as you think you are. In fact, you have a lot to learn. THE DAY YOU REALIZE YOU KNOW TOO LITTLE ABOUT POKER IS THE DAY THAT YOU ACTUALLY MIGHT START LEARNING A THING OR TWO. Know-it-alls generally know very little about what it takes to improve their pokergame. Its very important to be objective about your skills and where you might need improvement.

    8: Playing too many hands

Rookies play more hands then they should, not understanding the importance of starting with premiums hands in premium situations. Pick up a book or two before sitting down to play, and you will understand why 9-3 is a bad hand to start with, WHETHER ITS SUITED OR NOT!! With all the information out there today, there is no excuse for lacking fundamental poker knowledge.

    9: Playing on tilt

Just like a pinball machine that gets banged too hard, a beginner will often short circuit when he loses a couple of bad hands in a row. A tilted player loses all faith nin his game plan and will chase bad hands like inside straight draws, even though he knows he shouldnt.

And now the number one mistake rookie poker players make

    10: Playing too many hours

Your brain just doesnt function well after spending very long stretches sitting at the table. Rather then getting some rest, and coming back fresh the next day, most beginners end up playing too many hours trying to chase their money back. In the process, they end up throwing away even more. Your mind plays tricks on you after so many hours, and you'll often convinceyourself that you are playing well. Chances are, you are not.

Ok these are they top 10 rookie mistakes according to Daniel N.

It's not a simple post-count or a duration of membership. If we notice you being positively active and believe you're here to stay, you will be granted access to the freeroll password forum.

One month of steady activity doesn't necessarily mean you'll be a long-term contributing member of FTR. There are exceptions, of course.

You can't set a number-goal to get freeroll passwords. Your only goal should be to become an FTR regular and get involved in our strategy forums.

Stop watching the numbers and forget about the freerolls and one day, magically, you may see the freeroll password forum.

I did join today to see if I could get into the freeroll, but I am also looking for a new forum to. After reading alot of the posts throughout the forum and the ones above (I laughed my ass off alot) this sounds like a great place to be and I will be around to check you guys out more. You seem like a cool bunch and I hate playing in a game with 100's of people and it lasting all night. I could care less about a freeroll, I just want to play with some serious players. Cant wait to get into one of your buyin games at pokerstars. See yall around!

Umm... there IS a point actually. ITS TO KEEP FREETROLLERS FROM FLOODING OUR GAME! It's not about winning the money (although that helps its about playing against some of the FTR regs ) Try and not bitch because you can't get into the first freeroll you see on this site. Just play poker, post hands, give advice where you can, and by the time the next one or two come around you might be able to play. Now stfu and go post something meaningful!

WTF guys come on. You join the site to play freerolls but you won't take advantage of all the strategy forums videos and other tools they offer? I've been a member for like 2 days and i'm already annoyed with you guys acting like your superior to their rules. Just STFU post replies, hand histories, work on your game and the passwords will come. I don't even get the passwords for the freerolls yet so don't think i'm saying this because i already get them.

If your just out for the freerolls they hold here then go somewhere else because its obvios they are not going to just hand it out. This is a poker FORUM, not just a site that offers freerolls. So quit whining about the password restriction. I mean wow. lol

hi all. im a new member here. i use a variety of poker blogs. Ive been on Cardschat for almost 2 months. I havent played in a freeroll yet for them. Railbirds I have and Pokerspace I have. dollabill315 is my name on both sites. IF u look, youll see I put in a great deal of input into the blogs and forums. Im not here for the passwords, Im here for what the sites intended to be for. Good luck to all, c u around.

    Default sport of skill

I agree with the applications of the site and also with the rules and incentives to poker because popker is a sport of skill and intretenimento

Sounds very fair. Keeping it nebulous rather than picking a set number of posts people have to make may really work to the forum's advantage. It should help prevent people from being active for a while and then disappearing.

Instead of playing in the Freerolls, can I play in The Gauntlet instead, if I promise to post quality photoshopped images of all the FTR Vegas 2007 and 2008 participants?
