    Default Qualified member status

As of now our qualified member status will be changed to reflect a more contributing, long term member. There are no longer monthly or minimum posting requirements to become qualified. This will now be handled via our forums system based on several requirements being met. If you feel you should be qualified then feel free to post in this thread or send me a PM.

Just know that if you signed up within the last few months and have not been posting the majority of your posts in the strategy forums then you will not even garner a response about passwords or your qualified status. The freeroll passwords will continue to be passed out through our social media or in the Event thread as before to all that have registered in one of those ways. But many of our money added or direct sign up tournaments will now be for contributing members in good standing on FTR. If you want to play, you need to be part of FTR.

Direct any questions in this thread.

As always, if you feel you deserve to be a qualified member, but have not yet been accepted into the club, please send me a PM explaining why you feel you should be included and we will evaluate each case individually.

    Default New Member.

well, its my first time hier. I don't know what to do to be accepted in FTR, I'm not a nice user in foruns 'cause i have a bad english, but I find to be a nice player and grow up my bank is Pokerstars. I don't know very well, but I'm playing since 2011 and now I'm understanding how play and hope to be a better player each day. I hope to be part of FTR, I never heard about FTR, only today where I see the lobby.

I would love to get back into the qualified member group. I tried to pm you on Sunday with still no response. It would be great to get accepted by tonight so that I could take part in the money added game if possible. Please message me on whether or not I can be a qualified member again as soon as you can.

I just got my internet back up from moving. You need to stay active. One tourney will not make or break you if you are getting serious. Show some posting and stick around and Keith will probably help you out, so long as you are sticking around. Nobody is going to get a password on a promise. You will if you can show that you have been here a while again.

    Hello jyms!
Can you clarify how to become a qualified member?
Are there any rules or standards?
If I manage to become a qualified member will I lose my status later due to my inactivity for a period of time?
  9. #9
You become qualified by being an active member on the forum. Not for a day, not for a week and not for a month. Spend some time here, and when it looks like you are actually going to stay a while you will become qualified I will tell you if you are only here to get qualified to get passwords you have a long wait.
  10. #10
I wish this forum would make new members feel welcome cause by the responses it make them feel unwelcome-Get the members to stay not run to other forums.

I am guessing my quality 3 posts in 2009 is not gonna get it done???
  12. #12
Stick around, we have these every month. The only side effect of logging ina few times a week is getting better at poker
  13. #13
Can I be an active member now? I have pm you before and you still have not given me an answer.

Dude, you haven't been around since th 23rd of February. Why would that be enough? How does that help FTR when it had it's lowest activity in February it's ever had? Why would FTR help you?

I think I have proven over 25 years of playing that 'getting better at poker' is not gonna happen , but thank you for the response....

Those were on Valentines day. Posting two threads is not going to get you a qualified status. It's for FTR contributing members buddy.

I made two threads and posted in many more. Not to mention the fact that I pmed you twice last month asking if I was eligible to get into the club and what it takes to get in with no response from you.
  19. #19
I get 200 PM's on the days revolving around these events every month for people asking about passwords and getting status. I notice you seem to do the same, and PM all these questions around the same time as the events. You aren't interested in FTR, you are interested in the events and what they can give you
  20. #20
So it takes you 3+ weeks to get back to me? I actually pmed you the day after the last game ended and asked if I could be in and what it actually takes to get in and was active after last months game ended. It would be nice if people actually were told how they could qualify for your tournaments.
  21. #21
you posted 15 posts and then disappeared completely for the last two weeks with 0 posts . You're an active member at cardschat and therefore presumably know full well their conditions for getting access to their freerolls and added money tournaments . Why should we be any less strict about rewarding our active members than they are.
  22. #22
i posted this earlier today http://www.flopturnriver.com/pokerfo...25#post2196125

Anyone asking to get access is likely to be turned down not only for that request but for later tournaments where we might have decided to reward their participation with a one off password.

I'm not sure what you mean by ignoring newbies. If its not giving them access to the freerolls and money added events for no participation, it means that the members that are helping to provide content to atttact new members and helping to therefore drive ad income for the site are not getting rewarded for their contribution as they will be up against a large field of people who have contributed nothing towards creating the prize money. The qualified members tournaments are an incentive to get people to actively learn and improve their game and help others improve their game. Its a win win situation for those people willing to put the time in and study and improve as they will get better , win more , move up stakes and get access to the tournaments on top.

Those people not willing to participate in the forums will continue to stagnate and make the same mistakes time and time again , keep deposting or stay in the freerolls for ever more. (This sentence removed as it was specific to the question i was responding to) . To emphasize the point , look through the money added tourney threads and you see that they are mainly very low post count members asking how they can get access to the tournaments. Look in the beginners circle and other strategy forums and people posting real money hands generally have much higher post counts unless they are new to the site. Those people who are active , learn quicker and move up the stakes.they don't have to spend there time trying to get access to tournaments because they are busy winning real money at the tables.

I have been busy the last two weeks. I have only played a couple of tournaments on weekends and have not had much time to be active on forums. I have made maybe one or two posts on cardschat the last two weeks. Cardschat is very open with there rules to play in there games. For freerolls you need around 100 posts and for real money buy ins you need about 35. Flopturnriver has no set amount to get into there games and it would be really nice if they added one.

which is why i added the above clarification that was posted as a reply elsewhere on the forumto help explain the qualification criteria and that participation may get rewarded early if we believe people are here to get involved and learn and help others to improve.

Fair enough, and now I know that you need over 15 quality posts in a month to get into one of your games although I still dont know an exact number. I have been active on forums for about 3 years and it has taken me that long to get 1.5k quality posts. So maybe in two years I will finally have enough posts to be allowed in these games. This forum seems like it was once a great place but has since been ran into the ground and is now a ghost town. It is uninviting to new players and really seems like a place where 10-15 players who play for a living sit around and discuss hands in ways that a new player would not understand. You say you want this to be a place where players are able to learn how to play better but instead it is the complete opposite. Look at some other forums like poker.org, cardschat.com, pokerowned.com, and moreev.com to see what there doing and why they have so much traffic then consider upgrading this site. I am done trying to be active at this site for now but hopefully this site gets better and becomes worth my time.

which would you think is more likely to improve your game. responses from high stakes players who can beat the games and some of which have produced commercial teaching videos via coaching sites , where you can ask them about parts of their answers that you don't understand or a bunch of unskilled players who are posting to hit a post count so that they can get freeroll access.

This is not the only site with a good player base. Many other sites are full of great players who can help you get better at poker. A lot of these sites are a lot more inviting and friendlier then FlopTurnRiver and use better methods to help players then are currently used here.

really? lol ....so i managed to post 56 posts at cardschat in the last 10 day and before anyone knew who i was or my knowledge/ability i received a "move up to where your raises are respected " comment in response to one post by a 1000+ poster who still plays 2nl just for the sake of putting down an apparent new poster and in total ignorance of the points i had made.In fact he then sort of agreed with the points i was making.

I also received a "Which brings me to my next point. I would invite you to return to flopturnriver where you are apparently more comfortable. Because if you think you can come here and push your OPINION over other's OPINIONS because you think you have a better resume.. think again. " after i explained my experience and knowledge and was destroying this guys opinions with facts.Again ...nice and friendly isnt it.

its convenient how you leave out some of cardschats freeroll club's other rules ...."
It will take approximately 1-2 weeks for your request to be reviewed. (Reviews for members who were previously declined and are signing up again may take longer to review. Also if you have been gone for a long time - expect to wait more than 30 days to establish sufficient activity again.)

It is your responsibility to meet the requirements for maintaining your membership. Members who are removed for not maintaining the requirements will not be notified.

i.e ....you have to remain active in order to stay in their freeroll club and you can be removed from it for absense. Thats exactly the same thing that you have experienced here but remaining active here is too onerous for you.

Cardschat is pretty easy on there members. I have been in there freeroll club for a long time and have had months where I only get one or two posts and they have never said anything to me. I also dont participate in there freerolls very often anyways. You say remaining active here is too onerous for me but I consider 15 posts within a month pretty active.
  31. #31
look at it this way then .....I've posted 56 posts at cardschat in 10 days....you've posted 80 posts here in 15 months. I guess our opinions of active differ.
  32. #32
I 100% agree that 80 posts in 15 months is not active. That being said I do think I have been active as of late getting 15 quality posts last month. Its not that big of a deal, im not going to waste my time making hundreds of posts at a practically dead forum just to get into one game even though it does have a ton of value and has won me a lot of money. I feel like there are much better places to improve the leaks in my game then ftr although right now I dont have a lot of time to devote to improving. Keith whats your cardschat name?
  33. #33
It won't take a lot to work out my cardchat name . You are focussing on the 15 posts youu made last month. we are factoring in the couple of posts in november and a couple more going back to last april all of which were to do with the Bovada money added tourney none of which added value to ftr. You are saying i made 15 posts last month so i'm active, we are saying you made 15 posts last month having hardly posted in the last year and are starting to regain active status.
You admit that there is a ton of value in the value added tourney, that is the incentive for people to get active and have their chance at winning it.To regain access to the tourneys ,members will have to post regularly . if they don't want to then the value in those tourneys will go to the members that are active on the forum.

    HiJBCD71,

Our exclusive offers are only available to Qualified Members who have already shown that they will actively participate in forum discussion. The WCOOP challenge offers a very obvious added value for our FTR Qualified Members, which is why we prefer to reserve them for those who have been active over the course of months/years.

We hope to see you around in the future so you will be able to compete in future events that we offer here at FlopTurnRiver.

  59. #59
Is it true if you play site freeroll similar to this, then you cant play any other ones? example i registered for pokernews which offer 18 free tickets then i tried to register for pocketfives and it didnt work. So bascially you could play only one of these? Got a message on the screen that said this when i tried to register for another one.
  60. #60
they are giving 18 tickets worth $215 each. they don't want people playing 4 or 5 of these and winning 5 tickets and pocketing $800, they want people to play in the tournament that they qualify for.
  61. #61
I think I should be qualified. I've been playing poker for a few years and I've been checking your forum lattely and i have learned alot with your help

    Hi kevinjack,

The point of this thread is to communicate that Qualified Member status here on FTR (for entry into our exclusive events) is awarded to consistent contributors, who have shown that they are truly interested in becoming involved in the FTR community.

The best way to achieve Qualified Member status is to participate regularly on our forums in poker-related discussion.

    -David
  68. #68
Lol at someone criticizing FTR. What forum are you going to go to instead - 2p2? Ok, that's at least got a lot of users and some great information in it. It's also troll central and filled with tons of bad information, as well. As for cardschat...that is the worst poker forum on the internet, period. The amount of sheer fish and the extremely low quality of posts are obvious to any competent player/poster within the first ten minutes of being there.

IMO - FTR and 2p2 are the two best poker forums out there. I would include RIO and DC's forums but those are training sites and I don't put them in the same category. FTR is my personal favorite though, tbh. I think the smaller size of FTR and the higher quality of their forum technology and graphics puts it over the edge. You rarely get bad information here on FTR and if you do, three good players are right there to correct it. On 2p2, you really can get ten different wrong answers to any question you ask before someone gives you credible, valuable information. They both have their place, but your best bet is to just log into both 2p2 and FTR and leave them tabbed open side by side. That plus a good training site like DeucesCracked or RunItOnce and you're all set.

    Again though...cardschat? Smh...

Really tough actually having a "life" and a "real job" and just trying to stay active in life forget about on forums. To those looking to acquire "ACTIVE STATUS" LMMFAO good luck. You might want to buy a lotto ticket if you get your status changed to "ACTIVE"

I know what you mean , two kids and work full time and still manage to post regularly . you've been a member 4 years and if you had posted once per week you'd now have well over 200 posts . WHat you really meant to say is you can't be bothered to post and improve your play .

I updated your account to QM status around the day this was posted. You should now have access to the Qualified Members forum.

    Hi tatonkkaa,

+1 to what Keith said. I'm not in a position to judge the time-based elements because I'm very fortunate that the vast majority of the projects I have are online. I do a modest amount of English voice-acting work here locally whenever one of the studios calls, and it's a hassle commuting back-and-forth to the studio here in Mexico City given all the traffic, so I can relate in that way.

Why don't you post a couple of hand histories in our Poker Forums and see how it goes? It can be fun sharing advice on how to respond in certain poker situations, and the veteran contributos here are great about giving feedback.

Hope to see you around more on the boards,

    -David

hi there I have been reading the treads within this post and I find it rather stupid that people seem to be beggin to get the password for the ftr freerolls or either the ftr prizepool pots I am new here and not expecting to be put as a active member just like that it would be nice to get into the number one billion tournament but there is also enough $1 dollar sats witch can help alo of ppl to get into this tournament there is not as many tickets up for grabs in the $1 dollar sats but it is a way for anyone that really does want to play in the number one billion tournament to get a ticket to beg within a forum is greed within it self and as any poker player knows greed is not a way to win prize pools or be eligible to get ftr tickets this forum might not have as many ppl as a lot of forums and ppl saying it is not welcoming are wrong because if you speak to a mod or any member within the right way to will be spoken to within the same way life is about treating ppl the way you expect to get treated. jyms/keith/dhubermex I think everythink you have speak within this tread is correct and was the right way to deal with the people and don't seem to think the same

I have tried to be "active" a while back - but was not really successful - I guess - (did not get the status) and gave-up. It is - or let me be more correct - I find it difficult - to be "active" for 2 reasons.
    1. It seems ambiguous what is required. It is subjective, (I do believe it judges fairly - but the parameters are not known) I actually get it why it is subjective -as this allows for a broader spectrum of contributions to be considered. But as an aspiring member it is ambiguous even frustrating.
    2. Myself I am not a super well "poker educated" player. I guess I fall in the cathegory of recreational player. As such - I had difficulty finding topics that I can contribute to. Some hand analysis go beyond my knowledge, and there are very few - (or I do not know where to find them) threads that would talk about say some nice game opportunities(share knowledge of some good promos), some nice results to celebrate with friends, some bad beats - to make it less painful and perhaps to learn from, - that is threads I would be more interested in.
Not sure this makes any sense ... hope it does.
