    Default would you read???

    random question -

my old man works in publishing and has been offered the Devilfish autobiography. He's led a funny life - been prison, broke, now has $5mil + in winnings.

would anyone buy this book or be interested in reading?

As a Brit I think I would and i'm sure Devilfish has some very funny stories.

suppose i'd best do a poll.

I'd rather just watch him lose...

Will he do a chapter on why he feels the need to get stuck into the dealers in a really nasty aggressive way every time he is on TV? The above is one mild example but I remember other worse ones that I'm sure I could look out.

yeah the guys defo a bit of a cock - but has led an interesting life, and he a great player.

I think the book (i'm going to read a sample chapter later) will be more story telling rather than any real poker talk - obv he'll talk about big wins and that, but no actual in depth analysis of hands or whatever.

kinda thing you could read in a coupla days on on plane/train.

I guess it could be interesting enough. I remember there were loads of articles on him in the UK press after the first series of late Night Poker on C4 and I remember reading those (he won this I think?).

Meh, I think it'd just be self-aggrandising ramblings from someone who's never really got it.. Expect stories about how he used to win at slot machines, hammer people in the 'Ull pool club, get into pub fights and generally fuck around in the classic northern english way.. Expect details of his battles against archetypal nemeses like bookies, undercover coppers, thieves, stick-up kids, all without any overall moral perspective..

Expect good shitter reading - would borrow, wouldn't buy..

lol - completely agree. It's being ghosted by the bloke who did "Dodgy" Dave Courtneys book, so it's gonna be a load of balls. But i recon he has an interesting tale to tell....

But I recon it could sell. Nutsreadrers and the likes will buy, plus he prob is the most successfu Brit poker player(?)

not only would I not buy it, I would actively seek to steal it, just to stick it to the jerk.
The Dunning–Kruger effect is a cognitive bias in which unskilled individuals suffer from illusory superiority, mistakenly rating their ability much higher than average. This bias is attributed to a metacognitive inability of the unskilled to recognize their mistakes

Well i guess the answer is everyone thinks he's a massive twat...lol

I've still said I think it'll will sell though. It's the kinda thing you see in airports and the like, which lads with an interest in poker will buy - but also the fact he's had a mad life will appeal to the Nuts readers. Those gangster books sell thousands.

the blurb will be along of the lines : grew up on rough estate, involved in gangs, loan sharking, guns, been to prison, then gambled his way out of it through poker all the way to Vegas and $5m winnings....

If my old man does do it, I'll get GMML a signed copy as he COULD care less about him
