    Default Tribal Wars

So uh, anyone interested in an FTR tribe comeback?

We dominated back in the day (mostly thanks to Lukie, Trashcona, and a few other people with too much free time). Could be fun if we got enough people.

    Wow, this brings back memories.

Cool game if you like war strategy/tactics and are into politics. I got a lot of the dirty details at the time from Musch(one of our leaders at our peak)and it was pretty crazy some of the stuff that was going on.

Very, very time consuming once you start to expand your empire though. I can't imagine how these people in world 2(the world that we started on) are managing almost 8k villages. When I was around 20 I found it hard to keep up with everything.

    Good luck

That's how winners play; we convince the other guy he's making all the right moves.

Touche. Musch was an awesome guy. I haven't talked to him in years though. He was very good with the politics stuff and really brought a lot of people together.

I think us FTRers naturally gravitated more toward the strategy part of it, farming empty towns, sending axemen and noblemen in coordinated waves, etc. It was definitely a fun time.

That is insane. I do remember one guy in our clan who's screenname escapes me at the moment who was insanely good with computers, spreadsheets, etc. and just an all around solid guy. He had some programming skill as well and it wouldn't surprise me if he and/or some other guys were running some automated scripts to keep up with all that. But again that is just random speculation at this point.

Anyway I would be interested in playing a little although I don't plan on being very active to be honest. But I'd be ok with logging in once or twice a day quickly and if the game in its current form isn't too different than what it used to be, trying to remember some of our strategies from all those years ago.

I wouldn't want this to take over my life but with the advent of smart phones, etc I think being relatively competitive in this game is a possibility. I'd like to explore the possibility of starting a small tribe with some FTR who won't be idiot 15 year olds and give me something to do over the upcoming work weeks.

If people seriously want to do this we need to a) find the village building tutorial (how many days to spend on resource building, defense, etc) before you're declared attack-able b) come up with a time for us all to sign up so we start in the same area.

Honestly, if there wasn't something else people wanted to play that required teamwork and period logging in I'd be up for it. I remember Boost finding a different game back in the day.

Well, it's kind of like a delayed warcraft. You build buildings, build troops, attack neighbors, etc. The only thing is, a unit will take like 5 minutes to make instead of 5 seconds. It requires you to log in every now and then and click some buttons.

Once you've taken over a few buildings and your tribe gets into war with other tribes shit can hit the fan. Then you need to coordinate attacks since your troops take X amount of time from one and Y amount of time from another to get to villain's village.

I remember towards the end of the FTR war we had 6-7 tribes on our team and about the same number against us. It was an insane never ending war that burned most of us out. I do remember crushing those HATE players in a war that was much shorter than we thought.

@luke, i think you mean that sapphire player?

I remember playing this... was pretty epic. I think at my peak I had something like 10-15 villages and it was just pretty intense. Not really interested in doing this again though.

BR.. I'm not sure I was the one that found another game... I mean, way back in the day, like ~10 years ago I played a little planetarian... but last I checked (probably was around when we were playing tribal wars) it had changed a ton, there were just a bunch of bots, and it had switched from free to micro transactions or something.

Then there was the Risk craze in IRC. I would definitely suggest you guys get into risk instead of tribal wars. There's an actual end to the game and you can actually get away with checking just twice a day in the bigger games. Warfish.net: Homepage for the Risk action (custom maps and rules) if you're interested.

KN, after I quit playing, I heard you got better. But when I was running those streets you were by far the worst player in the group. Every move you made inspired a facepalm.

Sounds like Earth:2025 but with graphics. That game ate a large amount of my time in high school and even into University. And in E2025 you only had to log in 1-3 times a day to be competitive. This game sounds ridiculous on the amount of time required. No thanks!
Some days it feels like I've been standing forever, waiting for the bank teller to return so I can cash in all these Sklansky Bucks.

No, I am thinking of someone else, but sapphire was also very good and I remember we were #1 and #2 for a long time and relatively close to each other on the board. It's amazing what some diplomacy/niceness can do in the game. i.e. that could have just as easily ended with the two of us demolishing each other instead of joining teams

I don't doubt it.. but at least i never suicided mid-game. And for being the worst, I still managed to notch several wins, though I have no doubt a good deal of that was having outstanding teammates.
