Boost, you gotta check out some of the theorycrafting over at the ASOIF reddit. They got shit from Hound = this random gravedigger guy NOONE was paying attention to, all the way to "jon snow is targaryian".

None of which are confirmed obv, but many of them have some pretty interesting/compelling rationales.

Dunno about Stannis. The pink letter is probably the most hotly debated part of ADWD. The fact that Stannis is alive in a released Winds chapter (sorry if that spoils) doesn't really prove anything, as GRRM has said some of the chapters at the end of Dance and the beginning of Winds are not chronologically sequential.

Clegane is definitely alive though, the gravedigger theory is one of the safest theories there is, IMO. I think the key is that it's shown from the perspective of Brienne, who has never seen the hound. It's clearly a bit of dramatic irony where the audience should pick up that it's obviously the hound while Brienne has no idea.

I don't remember if I already posted this, but this is a pretty insane theory piece on winterfell at the end of Dance:

You can't hope to read it all, it's word count is probably comparable to Dance, but there are summaries.

Jon being Lyanna and Rhaegar's son seems like a lock to me. There was (supposedly) show only speculation to this regard, and after letting Lord Dotrice whisper in my ear for dozens of hours, I'm pretty convinced. The thing is, if this is true, it probably requires Melissandre to have abandoned Stannis after realizing that Jon was the real deal-- which would seem to leave Stannis without much purpose, especially in the show.

i always assumed stanny would die in the battle of ice and mel would freak out then burn shireen to revive azor ahai but he would remain dead and then in a different part of the world jon opens his eyes.

i like 10000th lord commander better though. stannis has said he knows the great cost that his fate brings him. he needs to be the opposite of batman: the hero westeros doesn't deserve, but the one it needs. grrm has been using this sort of trope already, where he's a "great fantasy hero" that nobody likes

i can accept a dead stannis, but i cannot accept an un-cleganebowl world.

im not sure which theory im most partial to: hound saving brienne and jaime from raging robert strong, or cersei having a trial by combat where the faith of the seven get to have seven competitors vs robert strong and one of them is secretly the hound

obviously hound can totes kill robert strong since he will overcome his fear of fire and fight with a blaming blade beric dondarrion style

I think GRRM is far more likely to kill him by fire than have him overcome his fear of fire. But I still think your idea is awesome.

Can someone make audiobook versions of fan theories? I don't have the hours in the day to read through these tomes

preston jacobs videos are the best. you can usually just watch the first in each of his series becuase they get more ridiculous with each no installment

here's one of the pretty eye opening one. he goes into stuff grrm has used in his other books tho, so in that sense it can be spoilery

alt shift x is better for some more reasonable theories. he only covers just a few of the more popular ones tho

Only on youtube? What about podcasts? I'm either playing content on my phone or streaming through it at work. Youtube will pwn my battery in an hour :-\

I'll check out the videos, but I'm going through some serious withdraw at work now that my boy Roy hasn't got anything new to tell me.

    Haha, just saw this.

Btw, I haven't read one sentence. I'm too low brow for that-- audiobooks ftw.

    Ripped right from Reddit:

    From Arya I AGOT
“Why aren’t you down in the yard?” Arya asked him. He gave her a half smile. “Bastards are not allowed to damage young princes,” he said.

Most of the media I consume is by way of podcasts because the type of work I do generally doesn't conflict with listening to audio-- it was only a matter of time before I got into audiobooks. With my schedule, if I had tried to read the actual books, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have made it through the first half of the first one.

Also, from everything I hear(I haven't listened to any other audio books), this is a series of books worth listening to because the narration by Roy Dotrice is so damn good. After a few chapters I completely forgot that it was one guy doing all the voices. It's like you're a kid and your granddad is an acclaimed Shakespearean actor who tells you bed time stories about warriors, schemers, dragons, half men, eunuchs and monsters. Shit is legit, son.

Winds of Winter will be "done when it's done", as GRRM misses another deadline. Show will overtake books. When asked about whether it will spoil the book, GRRM responded "yes and no". Lenthy post by Martin here
