No they should get their own division but get paid the same as the men with less & shorter rounds and none of the money making draw.

No they should just fight based on their gender at birth, and if they're unhappy with their gender, wear a fucking dress or whatever and stop expecting people to think you're normal.

Disabled boxing... that could actually be a thing. Like wheelchair tennis. Why shouldn't wheelchair people be able to box? In fact it might already be a thing.

    Over to youtube...

You'd could bet on the guy in the wheelchair getting 10 billion to 1. Mayweather has a heart attack in the ring you're a billionaire!

Nah, you'd just have to start today by buying a wheelchair and training. In five years you could be world champ of what Ong is calling them.

Argh... The paradox of this is too pedantic to delve into.

Suffice it to say that FTR mods have effectively unlimited freedom in what we choose to post. We were "vetted" as representing the FTR brand before we were invited to be a mod. The policy is that we set the tone as we see fit. We can guide this site however we deem best.

There is no mechanism or protocol for a mod to be banned (or even de-modded). If someone did ban a mod, it'd be grounds for banning them. But... that's stupid, and if ong did ban himself, I'm sure the mod's forum would be lolling all the way home... so ... yeah.

Hmm MMM, how deep is the paradox of saying something is too much of a paradox to delve into, and then immediately delving into it in detail?

I don't think it had anything to do with posting quality. Otherwise, I guess gmml must've read the 5 quality posts I've made out of 15k, while looking at my join date, and thought "this guy seems ok".

Nah I think I got modded simply because I'm online a shit ton and people don't seem to hate me anymore.

    I appreciate your point.

I was trying to give a brief summary and not a detailed delve, but... I could have done better.

Your first point is mostly right. Except for the stuff about gmml, I mean.
Your 2nd reason is probably much closer to the mark than I at first gave it credit.

IDK if I made the argument, but I do remember wondering if you (ong) weren't a bit too bombastic to be given authority to delete and edit posts, but even if I did think or argue that, I was wrong to worry about it.

You weren't wrong to worry about it, it's a legitimate concern when assigning people mod status.

If you thought I *would* abuse the position, well then you were wrong. And I'd hope you'd be glad of it, too.

    I agree.

It's all history anyway. You're all good in my book.

In other news. The new school year has started, and classes are back in swing. The construction that has been ongoing all summer is not quite finished and I'm suddenly getting a ton of extra little responsibilities to deal with. So far, they're all short projects which are ended quickly, but I barely have time to sit.

    Haha.

It's more like, the head of staff (my boss is faculty, but I'm staff, so argh), knows I am a get-it-done kind of guy and will constantly delegate things to me. It's stuff like:
Tell the facilities people where to hang these clocks when they come to hang the clocks.
Figure out where to hang the homework return boxes, 'cause they aren't going in our brand new hallway anymore.
Tell the teaching center that they gave us a bunch of crap erasers, and we already had good erasers, and can we please have our good erasers back from wherever they disappeared?

Also, I work directly with 5 professors and indirectly with about a dozen more. They're all getting more comfortable with my "Yes, I can do that" attitude (which I want them to be), but it means that I have more to do and more to setup. It's the first week of class and they have different little quirks for what they expect to be setup just so in their classroom and none of that takes more than a few seconds, but I have to remember what each one wants.

Not to mention every little hardware or equipment failure which happens near me is usually mine to fix, which can get annoying when people just assume I can fix anything, but also flattering, so... meh.

It's just hectic. I'm not complaining. I love what I do. It's fast paced, but constantly changing and usually fun.
I work with some pretty inspiring people, both the faculty and the students.

So now I'm being a teacher one of the big things is controlling your online presence. You obviously don't want stuff about you to be easily accessible. That to me raises two questions.

1 - Do I really say anything I don't think is defendale (correct word?) online? (probably yes if you take things out of context)

2 - Is it that easy to find who I am online? I think it should be easy but actually compared to the average person even though I post more on public forums I'm pretty hard to pin point. Once again even though I don't exactly hold back on information about me.

1 - Just be aware of it from this point moving forward. If anyone challenges you on something you don't currently believe, just say something to the gist of, "I was young and foolish, then. I'm old and foolish, now." and tell the person what your current belief is. Or let them know that your love of sarcasm knows no bounds, and your online presence may reflect as much.
Besides, I've never heard you say anything that was indicative of any deep-seated hatred for any particular group of humans. You do seem to hate all humans, but that's totally legal.

2 - I don't know. Some people are really good at that stuff. No one's ever linked my online presence to me in person w/o me telling them... to my knowledge, that is.

Yo MMM you live in Missouri right? I'm thinking of potentially moving thereabouts. I have some family in St. Louis and in the general hours-drive radius, and I want to get away from the nightmare cost-of-living and traffic that is the Seattle area. The 9 month long cloud cover is a real downer too.

What do you think the best and worst things about Missouri are? What do you think some small things that are cool or not cool are?

City life is city life; country life is country life... much the same as Washington state.

Seattle is kinda its own thing as far as American cities go. The high number of people who move to Seattle and leave a decade later means it has a lower average age populace. Seattle has a thriving gay community, like other cities on the west coast. The Pacific Northwest sensibility is also a rather different vibe than I've encountered elsewhere. It's just more hipster up there. Also, the public transit system in Seattle is top notch. The microbrews up there are phenomenal, too.

So, ya know... everywhere is going to be different than that.

We got real thunderstorms, here. They're pretty great. Plenty of blue skies in all seasons.
The seasonal temperature swings are far more than Seattle gets. E.g. when, in the winter and it's cold out, we say, "It's freezing out there," we're being literal. Also, sometimes it's over 100 F in the summer. If you're in St Louis, the summers are always humid. 2 major rivers meet here, after all. (My Hawiaan gal says the weather is the worst thing, here. lol.)

    Missouri's pretty firmly bible-belt territory.

Also, mostly full of republicans except for St Louis and Kansas City. If you have any interest in getting into politics, St Louis is a great place to be. There's plenty of voices on all sides and any vote can go any direction, it seems. The city is pretty divided between red and blue, so getting involved is more meaningful than elsewhere.

We get regularly mugged by invisible guvmint tax ninjas who steal our monies and use it to make the Zoo, Science Center, Art Museum, Missouri History Museum and one of the nation's largest parks free to the public... even for interlopers who don't pay the damn tax! All the while, we got some of the worst roads in the country. Oh woe!

St Louis has the most iconic skyline of any city. Everyone recognizes the St Louis Arch.

St Louis Municipal water is top knotch... if your building's plumbing isn't decades old, your water will be, too.

St Louis public transit is tedious and often smelly. I use it daily.

There's always work in the city if you want entry-level.
It can be tough if you are looking for a skilled position. There's a lot of competition, but also a lot of jobs.

    I lol'd. Thanks for the write-up.

It's interesting that you say plenty of entry level but not skilled work. I usually hear it the other way around. Doesn't mean it's true, but it's usually what I hear.

According to my uncle, the traffic in St. Louis is a sundae with cherry on top compared to the Seattle region. I'd guess that the traffic difference may be why there is focus on mass transit here and why there isn't in St. Louis.

I had this concern years ago. I forget if it was Xianti on his way out or GMML right when he started, but an admin was kind enough to scrub some posts that made it easy to link real life me to this account. Bottom line though, if someone had it out for me, if they were intent on digging up dirt, they certainly could link me to this account-- or worse, my 2p2 account that posted way too much in BBV4LYF, which, back in the day, was hard to tell apart from 4chan.

While we're on the subject.. remember when the craze of jailbait threads swept message boards? Can you fucking imagine that happening now? It was the god damned wild west back then. There were no shame mobs. Of course it's for the better that borderline child porn isn't being openly passed around, but it's crazy how much the online-community community's zeitgeist has shifted.

Maybe I have a wrong view of it, due to being unemployed for 4 years while actively searching for a career using my degree.

I've never gone unemployed for more than a week when my standard was to accept any offer from any job I applied to. That's what motivates me to say entry level is super easy to get, but skilled labor has competition.

To be clear, I never said there weren't skilled jobs, just that there's also a lot of skilled workers.

Also, since you're not going to be working in engineering or physics, take all of this with a grain of salt. I'm not really talking about your employment sector, but my own.

I didn't own a vehicle during my stay in Seattle, so I can't really speak to the relative traffic.

St Louis traffic isn't bad unless your only experience of it is a twice daily rush hour commute.

Still, the road quality is poor.

I did some searching for stuff the other day along with also looking for people I know as a reference and I don't come up like any of them do, mostly as I don't have social media accounts with places. I also tried to find some really old accounts I used to have which may or may not exist anymore and I found one and although I come across as an idiot compared to the average 13 year old its nothing. Tbh if stupid shit I posted on the internet that is incredibly hard to find compared to most people is that much of an issue then ill put some effort into showing that 95% of the workforce needs letting go and those other 5 need better internet access.

One of the postdocs where I work got caught looking at porn (not just nsfw stuff, but actual hard core porn) on his work computer. Apparently, Big Brother IT at our place monitor what sites you're looking at.

Also, who looks at porn at work? Eww.

He get fired for it? Tbh I have no sympathy for people who use anything work related for "bad" things that are not work related as it isn't yours.

A friend of mine was showing a college of his something on his phone and the bit that shows on your screen to say what you're listening to came up "Barely Legal" and he got himself into a fuss trying to explain that it wasn't porn it's a strokes song

What makes the shame mob so scary is that they're all indirect hypocrites, in that they have different, but just as "shameful" search histories. Not enough people will stand up for you and what's reasonable, and many will join in on shaming due to the fear that not doing so will elicit suspicion from the mob, which will lead to digging, which will lead to them getting their turn.

Look at the Google memo guy-- if you look into it, it is really hard to read his firing as anything but Google acquiescing to the demands of an irrational mob.

Some might say it's a skin in the game problem. Get people upset emotionally AND in a situation where outcomes do not affect them, and they turn into rabid hyenas.

2 - Is it that easy to find who I am online? I think it should be easy but actually compared to the average person even though I post more on public forums I'm pretty hard to pin point. Once again even though I don't exactly hold back on information about me.
You'll be fine as long as you exercise common sense I.e. Don't accept friend requests from current or ex pupils, keep your viewing access restricted, be careful with the tinder profile, etc. Some old MySpace profile or similar won't be a problem.

Mrs Bean is a teacher and never has problems. She's even started using twitter in a professional capacity for some benefit e.g. She's been invited to write a piece for the Times Ed.

If in doubt, use a pseudonym (I'm assuming you're real name isn't Sa Vy) and not a real photo.

Most likely they don't want the hassle. When I worked at a uni, there was an incompetent "I know my rights" type in the team that was flagged as looking at porn on their work laptop at midnight. We thought it was the opportunity we needed, but we were told not to pursue given the potential PR and likely court case that would follow. Incredibly weak management and laughable compared to one organisation I worked for that fired somebody for periodically checking the cricket scores.

It baffles me when people are this stupid. Of course they monitor traffic. He should at least use his phone data in the bathroom, but I guess screen is too small.

Depends on why one is looking at porn. I used to have a job as a projectionist, me and my best mate practically ran the cinema. The owner (our boss) was an utter wanker. Often, after last film went on, we'd watch funny shit on the internet. Occasionally, that might be some werid porn. Certainly, there were websites which would be very much inappropriate for work.

However, it's not like we were sat holding our cocks. We were just two lads taking the piss.

So I was at the store buying contact lens cleaner, which was right near the pharmacy counter. As I'm browsing, a woman with an accent walks up to the pharmacy window. She makes no effort to be discreet, or quiet her voice. She speaks completely calmly, in a normal tone..

"I have herpes, what do you recommend?"

The pharmacist raises an eyebrow and pauses for a few seconds. Then he says "are you European?"

The accented woman giggles a bit and says "yes, why?"

he says, "We call them cold-sores here"

So now I wanna know what Europeans call the really bad kind of herpes

I've had many jobs. How else would I know that work sucks to the point I'd rather be skint?

Although, having said that, the job in question was actually a pretty decent job. Just a shame the boss had no idea how to run a business and had the man management skills of a smelly sock.

Herpes and cold sore are the same virus. Best I could tell, some Europeans have a term specifically for cold sore (French, German) while others don't (Czech, Polish).

Herpes is herpes. We tend to call what's on the face cold sores though.
  63. #24213
Unless you got it by being fucked in the face. Then it's herpes.

Frankie Boyle is fucking amazing. He gets a lot of stick for being "inappropriate" and "offensive", he upsets all the snowflakes who think equality means spastics should be treated differently than everyone else when it comes to jokes.

Classic example... after we invaded Iraq, he joked that we'd have an exceptional team in the next Paralympics. Of course, this caused outrage. The soldiers weren't outraged, I might add. The people who are outraged are probably the same people who are confused by what gender means, and cry every time Trump tweets something. So yeah, I love him, because he offends the right people.

I wonder if Pewdiepie said "nigger" on purpose, specifically for the purpose of helping to break through the glass of the stranglehold the word has over contemporary society.

He might be the only white person in the world who can say it and get defended by his many millions of fans as being misunderstood and not racist. Society is in desperate need of that word being stripped of its power. It might just take somebody like Pewdiepie to start the process. Just wondering.

On a random stream, playing some shitty game without anything particularly special going on during it

Wuf's scenario is unlikely but him saying it knowing it would create huge amounts of attention & publicity for himself is less unlikely imo.

IMO he just said it. It blurted out. That's all there is to it. In online games, people say all kinds of shit to each other all the fucking time. Online game chat is very fucking toxic, and it's usually 13-year olds screaming f, b, n and c bombs all the fucking time; there is something about being relatively anonymous on the net that brings out the worse in people for some reason. This was one of those situations, which just happened to be on a random stream and spewed in this particular case by none other than Pewdiepie himself. Pewds being pewds, a mirrion people were watching him playing some shitty game, including the Easily Offended Brigade.

And then the EOB had a field day with it. Nothing is better for the brigade than to feel offended for others.

But there is nothing more to it than that. Of course blown out of proportion

You really need to stop reading Scott Adam's blog.
