    Default Post Your Desktop Thread

    Running Windows 7 on a 3.5-year-old laptop.

When I click the text in the middle of my desktop, it runs the programs I need for my work, arranges them how I want on my desktop and shuts off my Internet for an hour.

That works for me. I assume it's a permissions thing if noone else can see it. I'm gonna stop caring right about now.

We can't see shit from your Dropbox if we're not logged into your Dropbox.

So did you want to see the blurry background pic of my children that has been blown up from a thumbnail, or the 37 folders covering it that are all called 'new folder'?
Congratulations, you've won your dick's weight in sweets! Decode the message in the above post to find out how to claim your tic-tac

I've always had a messy desktop. Opening this thread and scanning it just inspired me to get rid of about 40 shortcuts and files that I never use, are redundant, or both.

    I feel much better.

That being said, my gmail acct has 18,405 unread messages.

What OS do you use? Might want to look into a free program called 7stacks to organize some of that into menus.

Or just create a new folder, name it "desktop", and dump all your shortcuts and note files and whatnot into that.

I'm running Windows 7. A lot of the icons were either folders that belong in My Documents, or shortcuts to apps that aren't even installed any more. Now I've got 10 icons that all fit nicely in one column at the size I have them rendered. I have chrome and calc next to the start button and the start menu has a handful of regularly accessed apps.

Speaking of OS's, is anyone running Windows 10? I've got the option for the free upgrade, but I've been putting it off. I'm generally not annoyed by the nit picks that a lot of overly vocal nerds seem to freak out about every time any piece of software is updated, but the little bit of interaction I've had with Windows 8 has got me to steer well clear of it.

I like the picture but I don`t understand the joke with shuting down your internet.. Why do you need it?

I turn off the Internet to help with my productivity. I work in one-hour sessions with small breaks between.

Also idk if your avatar is you, but if so, those glasses are the same as my girlfriend's.

The 7stacks program I referenced can give you an icon that you click to open up a menu like this that you might like (or not w/e):

Nothing productive happening here. I don't care about the links, but I also can't be bothered to clean them up.

    default Windows blue background

I have no fancy scripts that do stuff and things.

Mostly, I am working online via firefox (for which I have a skin) or doing something full-screen.

If I ever looked at my windows background for more than a couple of seconds at a time, I'd switch it.
