It's a mistake to think that talent doesn't often go hand in hand with drugs and addictiveness. There is beauty in tragedy, and those who can illustrate it so well can do so often because they live it. You don't get as good as PSH at illustrating pain on stage without being ensconced in it off stage

Know what else goes hand-in-hand with drugs and addictiveness? Just about fucking everything. I just thought he was an absolutely shitty actor, I hated seeing his stupid face in anything I ever watched, and I didn't even know his fucking name. I had to see the guy's picture to know who this week's slob piece of shit was who died of overdose. Next week it'll be someone else and nobody will give a shit except when they can't figure out where that fat motherfucker went in the next Hunger Games movie. Two words: Brittany Murphy. Two more words: O-fucking-D. Two more words: Nobody fucking cares.

Just kidding. Sucks that he died.

Guy was a troubled one to be sure. Clean for 20 years apparently, one slip up and this is what comes of it.

    Acting is a helluva drug.

I struggle with drug abuse from time to time and it's a pain in the ass. Sometimes I think I can blame my talent for the drug abuse and other times I just blame my lack of skills at knowing how to deal with it.

He's a grown man and decided to do this because he felt the rewards outweight the risks.

This guy makes the best argument I've ever heard against drugs. If tldnw: He basically says that some hard drugs are just too good. They give you such a high that nothing else ever compares. Win an oscar, become one of the most accomplished actor of your time, but still not quite as good as the time you sat on your couch and put a needle in your arm.

I don't doubt that he was in a lot of pain, but you don't sign up for his filmography if you don't like pain. He's still a piece of shit for not kicking it. He's more valuable than the sum of his parts. For some people life is not for them, they don't have much to contribute, everything in their life has been shit so far. I don't blame them for going down that road, but if you have anything to offer you don't have the right to go out like that. He's out, it doesn't matter to him now, but the whole world sucks a bit more now, and it's because this douchebag couldn't get it together. Such a waste.

apparently he started popping prescription pain killers in 2012, and was totally clean before that since the age of 23.

    poor guy...

and i bet barely anyone else around him knew too. proper support is pretty crucial to an addict getting the help they need. but addicts are liars pretty much all of the time.

100% on the money. Also, that first needle will always be better than the sum total of the rest and it's that first time your body hunts after.

Everybody has lots to offer. People let themselves off the hook to this reality when they think of themselves as just cogs

They say trying heroin is opening a loose end that can never, ever be closed

Aren't you guys curious what it's like? I'd love to give it a go. Doubt I ever will. Same with meth and crack.

I think i'll probably try heroin when I'm like 70 and it's the last item on my bucket list.

I love drugs, but I try to avoid the pure-pleasure type drugs. I prefer the ones that allow me to swim around in my brain. Just having an uptick in pleasure hormones seems too easy.

Renton, there's plenty of opium dens in your part of the world. You could prob tie it in with an elephant trip and get high in the mountains. And because you'll be smoking it as opposed to jacking up it doesn't feel quite so depraved.

jesus christ, who in their right mind wouldn't be curious? heroin's supposed to be like a freight train jampacked with over 9000 orgasms or some shit slamming right into you. i flat out refuse to believe that anyone would not be at the very least be curious about something that is described as the most supreme form of happiness and peace.

anyway despite all that i would never touch it. i'm perfectly content enjoying baby versions of heroin's effect via alternative opiates every once in a blue moon.

besides, who needs any of that shit, really, when you can squeegee your third eye with psychedelics?

i can't say im curious, because im the curiosity killed the cat guy i.e. if i admit to myself curiosity about something, i will do it. it's like how i've never truly been in love with a woman until i actually tell her im in love with her. if i just let things lay below the surface, i can keep going without feeling like i can't live without them

I've never liked weed, and have never been curious about heroin as far as needles go. I hated the high and loss of control that hallucinogens gave me back in the day and may be why I took a long ride every weekend for 10 yrs or so on Coke. That drug fit me well, I had great control, could shut it off when it was gone and work all week without it. Spend the weekend working in a bar, getting high and party all weekend. Never a needle, and never smoked it. I always wondered if I could have that kind of control over heroin if It was never hardlined

I've tried heroin a couple of times. I just sat there and felt sick, it ain't all that. Weed is way more fun
