    Default Online Course Recommendations

So I've started my world travels and after two weeks I'm starting to feel a little listless. I'm used to checking off todos all day at work and home and while I'm enjoying my freedom being a tourist of the world, I'm feeling the urge to do something productive but different.

I had the idea to take an online course and my searching immediately went to the subjects I know, computer science and economics. Instead, I'd like to take something that is introductory, interesting, and very different from my normal interests. I know this community appreciates continued education so I thought I'd see if anyone has any recommendation?

I'm looking for something that is introductory, free, and self-paced given my unpredictable schedule. Ideally (but not required) it would have an offline mode and an iOS app since I spend a lot of time traveling on ferries, buses, planes, etc and have downtime but slow or no internet.

In college, I took a few Astronomy courses as electives and that has created a continued interest in the subject. I'm hoping to find something similar here. I'd also like it to be somewhat introductory. Can't take advanced rocket ship building if I haven't taken basic rocket ship building.

    Thoughts?

I've also read 4 of the 8 Harry Potter books already. And a discworld book. I'm not good at relaxing.

Currently in Panglao Island, Bohol, Philippines. Heading to Hong Kong on the 11th for a few days to visit a friend and then on to Vietnam. We've budgeted for 8-12 months of travel but are planning on a short term basis. After Vietnam, we'll see where we head next. We did commit to hanging out in Thailand for a friend's birthday party in January.

Ideally, I'd like to hit up Myanmar, Indonesia (already done Bali), China, Mongolia, and South Korea. However, we're trying not to book anything super in advance and go where the wind takes us.

If you don't like sitting back and relaxing I think you're in the wrong place.

Not remotely what you were asking for, but I think there's lots of charity work you can do, certainly in Vietnam. Like helping in soup kitchens feeding the poor or various other things. Would get you off the typical tourist track and you'd interact with real people, and maybe make a small difference in the world.

Something like this could be fun:

Not recommending, I no nothing about the organisation, just thinking if different stuff to do.

Edit: Although maybe just giving your thousand bucks to a poor kid might have a bigger effect.

Help....help other people? Do you know who you're talking to?

Yeah, volunteering could be a lot of fun.

    1) bigred is way cooler in person than in WW games
    2) rongs advice is excellent. If you're on a travelling binge - interact with the people. They will show you what those countries are really like. Helping the poor is such a fantastic way to experience these areas too.

I'll let you know how it goes. We're on a budget and Hong Kong isn't very budget friendly so we'll see. Hopefully we can do a few hikes outside the city and eat some good food.

If you're on a budget, the legendary Chunking mansions is always an option.

    Pro tip: Don't go there!

There's a cool yout hostel on top of Mt Davies, I stayed there 15 years ago, changed a bit since then, but the view is still amazing and it should be pretty cheap as well as generally pretty awesome.

God dam I wanna go travelling now. Stupid job and stupid children reuin everything.
