LOL you guys. BB stuff in white

The book being there and the mental leap was fine. I didn't post it anywhere because I don't post on 2p2 anymore, so I can't prove it, but when the book thing first happened, it was a pretty strong tell that it was going to come back later, then in the first or second ep of this season, they showed the book again, thus proving they were planning on bringing it back and making it how Hank finds out about Walt

My first prediction for this season was that Hank finds out when he sees the book, then Walt ends up killing him a few eps later. The latter part of that has since changed to Hank not being killed by Walt, but Skyler being killed by Walt. He has to murder one of Jesse/Hank/Skyler, and it appears she will be the one due to not only the storytelling but the floss-noose, the birthday bacon/flash forward in the diner, and even the pool looking like a good way to drown. Ofc they do like changing the story around and making things that its moving towards not happen.

Pete vs life looks hilarious. Only watched one episode but I lold.

Pete is an average bloke - apart from the lying, selfishness and laziness. He tends to overperform in these areas. But what really sets Pete apart is the two sports commentators who analyse every move he makes...

Weeds lost me after they got into all that mexican crap, but the latest season got back to its lighter funny roots, and they wrapped up the series nicely. Last ep was great imo

There's a ton of potential but the acting is lolbad. The lead chick is Jennifer Garner lite and that's not a positive.

Dexter season 6 dived off a cliff. I just finished watching it after a year long hiatus as I needed an easy watching show. I guess I kinda liked the ending, not because it was good, but it did make me wanna see how it pans out. It sure ain't no Breaking Bad though.

Yeah I haven't bothered to watch the last couple seasons because of this. Even after knowing the nifty ending of the last season, I still know that they're not going to pull it off well, so why bother watching...

I stopped watching Dexter after the season after the one with Lithgow ended. It did a nosedive quickly. Watch Wilfred instead.

    homeland season 2 imo

  33. #858
Season 1 Homeland finale was one of the worst I've seen in a long time and I will not be watching season 2. Spoilers to come...

The show demonstrated that it's nothing but a cocktease and that nothing that happens matters because they have to keep Brody alive in order to make more seasons. This means there is no real suspense because the suspense itself hinges upon Brody going through with the plan.

Even if they try to change the storyline (they won't), the authors have shown they will contrive whatever machinations it takes for what happens to not be of consequence so they can make more seasons. The correct option was for them to have Brody splatter the walls with the entire entourage, then make season 2 about a whole new fantastical terrorist plot from a different source. Not to mention that I get tired of shows merely hinting at "shit getting real" but eventually pulling back to a generic conclusion. Homeland could have made artistic history by blasting the VP and half the DoD, but they opted to suck instead

I was lucky enough to be at one of the live filmings of this show in LA a couple of years back and though William Shatner was fantastic. Came home and watched the whole series on one day. Just loved it and would recommend it.

    Sherlock S2E3 Spoilers:

    Spoiler:
I can accept that Moriarty, being insane, would shoot himself without pause or much thought other than it would be his way of "winning" by forcing Sherlock to jump. But I don't get the portion immediately before, where he accepts Sherlock as an equal simply because Sherlock stepped back from the ledge, which leads to Moriarty feeling that he needed to force the situation. Please to explain theories, pls? Why didn't Moriarty simply kill the 3 friends as planned? Wouldn't that have been winning as well?

    Sherlock S2E3 answer to benny!

    Spoiler:
I dont really think i understand the question. But, it seems like youre asking why did moriarty have an abort code in the first place? Im not entirely sure, but maybe if things didnt go quite as planned or he changed his mind or something.

One thing to consider though, is that Moriarty probably isnt dead. Idk if the writers have said anything about it...but he come back from this kind of double death situation before in the books.

If you're question was more of "why did he accept sherlock as an equal", well i didnt see it that way at all. It seemed like he was just acknowledging that sherlock would be able to 'break' him and get the abort code in time to save his friends, becasue he wasnt ordinary like everyone else and was actually special like moriarty.

The wife and I are looking for a new series to watch. Preferably a series that is finished or has been going on for a few years. I wouldn't mind watching a comedy or at least something that isn't as dark as the shows we've been watching lately. The wife says something that is modern, non-scifi, and non-fantasy.

Here's a list of most the shows we have seen:

    Dexter
    Breaking Bad
    The Wire
    The Sopranos
    Twin Peaks
    The Walking Dead
    Firefly
    Oz
    Rome
    24
    Lost
    Arrested Development
    Freaks and Geeks

    What do you recommend?
  49. #874
Just get Game of Thrones and watch as your wife's "non-fantasy" prejudice changes

And besides, there is only 2 seasons of GoT so far, so that violates my first rule!

It would change her mind though, for reals.

Anyways, unless I'm forgetting something, nothing fits your criteria. The majority of great shows have all been cancelled early. Of what you haven't seen, Boardwalk Empire is probably best, but it's still running. Carnivale is amazing but most will hate it until the end of the first season, Six Feet Under is done and is a fantastic drama but it's a pure drama that might not be engaging, Newsroom is great but not close to done, Community is awesome yet somewhat prematurely cancelled, Justified is good fun but still running....
  52. #877
You actually might be able to get down Carnivale because your list of shows is extremely good (excluding 24, TWD, and Deckstar ofc). Carnivale would have been the best show of all time bar none if it had been finished. It was basically a thousand page novel put into five seasons, but they cancelled it after season two. Most people will think it sucks until the exposition stage of the show (the first like ten eps) are finished, but then it becomes GOAT
  53. #878
I've never heard of Justified. It looks good.

I was looking through a bunch of shows last night, and I had Community and Six Feet Under on my list. The reason I didn't pick Community was because I was looking for an hour long show, and the reason I didn't pick Six Feet Under was because I was trying to find something a bit more uplifting.

But in the end, I will probably end up picking one of those two.

Carnivale and Boardwalk Empire will definitely be watched but likely only by me. They have both been on my list for a while.
  54. #879
Whatever you do, don't watch Battlestar Galactica. Unless you want to respect the TWD writing staff
  55. #880
Thanks for the heads up. 8.8/10 on imdb...I guess it is highly overrated then. Too bad. I'll just re-watch Firefly when I am in the mood for Sci-Fi.

Have you watched Twin Peaks yet? That might be my favorite show of all time.

I have it on good authority that Twin Peaks is awesome but that I won't like it unless I watch it when I'm in the right mindset. This has to do with things like I'm a very moody person and David Lynch pretty much always expands that effect.

And yeah BSG is super overrated. People just love them some scifi. I mean, I love it too, but I still have standards. BSG pissed me off so much because it's such an amazing premise but felt like it was written by 14 year olds. I have watched every episode except the last seven and despite trying to finish them, still can't bring myself to do it.

This is something I certainly would have no problem arguing, but it has been so long that I've seen that I don't remember enough anymore. I know the reason I watched Dexter was because the actor did such an awesome job with David.

People do need to be warned though, it is a pure drama that is about the characters exclusively and it may take some time getting into. But it is the best character drama of all time and the only show that delves more deeply into any one character is Sopranos with Tony, but SFU digs into every character unlike any other show.

Curiously though I would say the best character staff of any show is in Rome even though SFU does get more into its characters. The Rome dynamics were just seriously cool whereas SFU dealt with much more realism

Also Homeland is a worthwhile watch as long as you acknowledge that Showtime will never be HBO and that they will disappoint you with their plot decisions. Not so much in the way that the decisions are bad but that they set up extremely awesome potential but don't go through with it

24 was a weird show. I realized the whole time that it was a bad show and all, but it was super fun to watch. I was hooked on that show like it was crack. If I watched it before bed, I wouldn't be sleeping until like 4 in the morning because I would have to keep watching just one more episode.

Btw, I really don't get how people think Justified is a decent show. I just can't get into it at all which is disappointing because I was looking forward to starting it.

I loved 24 until around season 6 and I'm not ashamed to say so. Obviously the show was terrible but it was quite entertaining and definitely one of the best network shows.

24 was addictive. I did exactly the same thing with watching just one more episode and then getting up for work after 3 hrs sleep. Sometimes all I want is to be entertained and 24 gets top marks for that.

I'm all out of series to watch. I find as I've got older I've become fussier and too many shows just annoy me. Homeland was dull. Firefly looked like a low budget show from the 80s with horrific acting so I didn't get past ep 1. Twd is a joke of a show that just wastes tonnes of good opportunities, has bad acting, characters make awful decisions and the whole thing leaves me frustrated.

I might give twin peaks a go. It's a bit old but gets great reviews.

I likes Bones, can get a bit same-y but quite similar to Dexter and well written

Any love for Rescue Me? A friend and i were talking about that show last night and it seems like it would be a good candidate for a series to rewatch. Definitely give it a chance if you haven't seen it.

Yep. Seasons 1-3 are great. I thought Season 4 started to go downhill. That was all that was available on Netflix and I haven't bothered to download the next 3 seasons yet. I'll get to it eventually.

From seasons 1 - 3 it's a great show, one of my all time favourites. Season 4 dropped off a fair bit. It was still watchable but it lost its magic. They lost me at season 5.

Here's a list of most the shows we have seen:

    Dexter
    Breaking Bad
    The Wire
    The Sopranos
    Twin Peaks
    The Walking Dead
    Firefly
    Oz
    Rome
    24
    Lost
    Arrested Development
    Freaks and Geeks

    What do you recommend?
    Entourage and Modern Family

Thanks, I forgot about Entourage. I think we have watched most of the first 3 or 4 seasons. Are the rest of the seasons worth watching?

My wife watches Modern Family every week. I forgot to list that.

Pretty sure that if you like Entourage, the odds that you're a sociopath skyrocket.

I don't mean any of youse guise though, of course.

This just baffles me. Maybe it's because youre British and there are some subtle things that appeal to Americans but not Brits. But even then that doesn't make sense since it was your guy who constructed the Byronic hero, which is one of the main appeals to the show. However, the US embraces that archetype much more than any other cultures do.

Firefly is a mashup of just about every genre there is and it was never low budget and low production values. It was meant to be gritty as well as jovial. The show is second to none and way ahead of its time. It's one of those "if you don't like it it's because you're wrong" kinda things

If you're not a drooler, I'd give Treme a try. But realize that it's not a typical show in the least bit, and you shouldn't go into it looking for a "good show", but instead enjoy it for what it is-- Which is pretty much a series of music videos which are tied together by a wide array of characters whose meandering-to-nowhere arcs intersect and intertwine now and then.

    LOL

Entourage gets gradually worse from start to finish (if I remember correctly) and starts repeating itself. If you liked it you could try How to make it in America instead. Hmm seems they cancelled it after two seasons, oh well...

Got nothing for you. I suppose get on the Homeland bandwagon. The second season is a joyride after a very tedious and barely watchable first (you can't skip it though).

BBT is always a fun 20min if you're at all into nerdy shit.

Planet earth and other BBC nature series in 1080p are amazing if you have decent gear.

FlashForward was only one season of b-class drama, but def interesting stuff to think about and some nice achievements in cinematography during black outs.

Suits is watchable if you're desperate or on a treadmill.

Funny that you didn't list Boardwalk Empire, GoT or the Newsroom, since I don't watch them either. Gave them all a very decent chance though. Probably good stuff in there but not for me. Def give them a try if you haven't already.
