You make it sound like "Trump and his gang" sat around a table and said "And you know what else would really stick it to those shit-hole-dwellers. Let's take away their kids!! Yeah! Hate! Hate! Go Racism!"
The policy was implemented in 1997 (who was prez then?). And it basically says crossing the border improperly is a crime, and in our system of justice, we prosecute and punish criminals. So if you get nabbed jumping the border, then you go to jail. That's the policy.
It's the same policy that applies to bank robbers, car theives, tax cheats, fraudsters, assaulters, murderers, and perpetrators of mayhem. WHen you commit one of those acts, you go to jail, and your kids don't get to go with you. A huge % of the prison population has a kid at home. Does that mean we should just forgive their crimes in the name of "family unity"?
In this case, the immigrant criminals are given 20 days to find somewhere safe to send their kids. That's plenty of time for Uncle Jorge to drive up from Guadalajara and pick up the little brats. So I'm still not seeing why this is even a problem.

Again you make it sound like this was all a calculated move. You're claiming some nefarious hidden agenda, obscured by 3d chess moves in the media, perpetrated by someone you claim is unable to construct a coherent sentence. Make up your mind.
No one thinks it's a great thing that families are separated. No one wants that. No one coordinated that to happen on purpose. Take off your foil hat for just a god damn minute. When it happened, Trump demanded congressional action. Republicans were ready to go. Schumer, the Dem leader, threw up his hands and said "Not our problem".
Have you seen the recent cover of Time Magazine? It shows Trump looking in the mirror, but his reflection is all dressed like a King. How many of you libtards have been screaming "NO FASCISM", and bemoaning Trump's "Desire to be a dictator". Now the guy tries to invoke democracy and representative governement to address a social problem. He calls for legislative action in a democratic country. And the media still shits all over him for it.
It's ok for Trump to be a dictator when he's doing things you like? Democracy and representative government are important unless the democrats want something right fucking now? Is that where we're at??
