It's not about individuals getting vaccines; it's about vaccinating the population (which obv. requires individuals to get vaccines, but the goal isn't to keep the individual healthy, it's to keep the society healthy.)
It's not about protecting the healthiest, strongest people, whom are unlikely to have permanent damage from the illness; it's about preventing the least healthy and least able to fight the diseases from being permanently harmed or killed.
You getting vaccinated may literally save childrens' lives. It may not. It's complicated, since it's not ultimately about any individual getting vaccinated, but the overall lack of viable vectors within the population.
