But I don't like to brag about my handicap. I'm fine with being corrected, even if you have to start it off with "lol u so dum"

    You spelled 'college' as 'colleague'

p.s. then you spelled 'dumb' wrong

pps. Also I'll think you'll find that 'y-o-u' is the correct spelling of that word.

Actually I should qualify that. They're the only two European languages that don't have a proven Indo-european origin.

It's possible they were brought here by aliens.

Didn't Kenedy make that whistle-stop tour where he went to the funniest German cities and said stuff like,
"Ich bin ein Berliner" -> I am a donut
"Ich bin ein Frankfurter" -> I am a hotdog
"Ich bin ein Wiener" -> I am a sausage
"Ich bin ein Hamburger" -> I am a ground beef sandwich.

Best subtle comedy routine by a president that I ever made up.
Except I didn't make up the first one.
And I bastardized the rest of the idea from Eddie Izzard.

All of those translation assumptions are correct. Nicely done.

It's a syntax error. He used English syntax instead of German syntax.

If he wanted to say, "I am a Berliner (person from Berlin)," he should have said, "Ich bin Berliner." Then, Berliner is an adjective describing "I." By saying, "a Berliner," he's indicating that Berliner is a noun. Unfortunate for him that there's a popular donut in Germany called a Berliner. Comically hilarious for the rest of us.

    Whoosh.
The joke was that I did online research to see if "the internet agrees" is indication of "being right," and that the internet agrees that if the internet agrees, it means they're right.

Now that I've explained it, you may lol at your leisure, secure in the funniness of the joke I told being truly funny, and not just amusing in a ridiculously nerdy kind of way.

That link affirms the quote is correct. (not a misquote or anything)

In the meat of the debunking, it says, "According to some grammar texts [...]"
Well maybe, but I'm assuming that according to other grammar texts, other things are said.

Besides, I'm not really trying to be a German grammar expert. Just relaying what I learned in my high school German class. If it was bunk, then fine, I'll drop it.
It doesn't really appear to be bunk, though. The quote is correct, and at least sometimes, the analysis is correct, so it's a fun little conversation piece.

I don't really know what the rule is, but if you relate to yourself it doesn't make a difference whether or not you use a pronoun. If you were to use Berliner as an adjective you definitely need a pronoun. Idk if it's colloquial or if there's an exception, but it doesn't change the meaning - it's both the same as "I am a..."

Virtue — who wouldn’t speak to me directly, but the story was reported by Golf.com and I confirmed it through two other members of the club — was playing with his kid, who I think is 10 or 11 years old. He [Trump] sees Ted on the 9th hole and decides to drive his cart over there. He tells Ted: Congrats on winning the club championship, but you didn’t really win it because I was out of town.

Ted tries to laugh it off, but Trump is dead serious. Trump says, “We’re going to play these last six holes for the championship.” And Ted’s like, “I’m playing with my son, but thanks anyway.” But Trump says, “No, your son can play too.” So they end up playing.

They get to a hole with a big pond on it. Both Ted and his son hit the ball on the green, and Trump hits his in the water. By the time they get to the hole, Trump is lining up the kid’s ball. Only now it’s his ball and the caddie has switched it. The kid’s like, “Daddy, that’s my ball.”

But Trump’s caddie goes, “No, this is the president’s ball; your ball went in the water.” Ted and his son look at each other confused, not sure if this is really happening. And Trump’s caddie says, “This is the president’s ball. I don’t know what to tell you.”

Trump makes that putt, wins one up, and declares himself the club champion.

Try something more like the most powerful man in the world is such a little baby that he can't let someone else be club champion, so he cheats to win.

That's what I don't get about you lefties. You keep thinking that you point to some off-color behavior from Trump and say "ZOMG look at what a scumbag he is", as though that actually matters to anyone.

Is there someone in politics, or in the elite strata of media, business or academia, that you believe is not a total phony, liar, self-absorbed, egomaniacal, power-hungry, corrupt slimeball....then I'll happily consider his/her platform for president. Image address is the url that ends in the image's extension, commonly .jpeg, .jpg, .gif or .png.

Example (quote this post to see the code)

*Bonus: when you upload it to imgur.com, choose the "Get share links" option, then copy/paste the "BBCode" variety.

Sort of, I mean if you right click an image you can "copy image address", which is the URL location of the image. If you post that in [img] tags, it'll post the image, while you can also post it in [url] tags and leave a clickable link to the image.

If you're "posting an entire page", then I assume you're copying a really long string, which is not the image location, that's probably the google images thumbnail location. Click the thumbnail to go to the proper image, and get that location instead. It should be a simple URL address, not a ridiculous string.

Kolfage apparently still claims he's gonna build the wall. I guess he wants to keep those donations coming!

You shouldn't applaud him. You're basically saying it's ok to commit criminal fraud if the target is someone you don't like. That's not exactly taking the moral high ground, is it?

Does this not expose your hypocrisy? I mean, you're at the point where you hate a man so much due to his moral positions that you're willing to overlook criminal acts against his supporters. You are deeming Trump supporters as acceptable victims of crime.

You're abandoning morality to protest morality.

    Hypocrisy defined.

You're welcome. I know you don't want to come across as a hypocrite, I'm happy to help you not be one. If you want to critisise people in high office for their lack of morality, you kind of have to not be lacking in morality yourself.

Obviously you don't think it's ok to commit fraud against people you don't like. But when you pretend you do, I'll pretend to be outraged about it.

It is not just that I don't like them, it's that I think they are morally vapid and they happened to step into a honeypot guided by their own hatred and stupidity. And by the way... how are you raising objection now, when I literally said I would jack on their corpses AT LEAST TWICE on this very message board! The mind, it boggles.

I think it is an interesting thing to talk about on the basis of morality, if you actually want that argument. I think it's actually pretty tough for my side... but it will probably be just us. MMM stopped talking to me when I called him an uppity cunt, which btw... if you call someone uppity, you have to necessarily follow it up with cunt. How are you serving any function at a university and not know that.

And I'll pretend to react to you like I would react to any other pretedn triggered snowflake: by pretending to tell you to chill.

To be fair, though, that's a pretty clever scam (as morally reprehensible as it is).

First, it's not even plausible that they'll ever raise enough money, so you have to be pretty stupid in the first place to donate money to a hopeless cause. Second, the Kolfage guy has made PT Barnum look like an amateur here. If you asked yourself, "Who can I scam for money?", the typical options would be a) the elderly; b) the religious; c) the greedy; or d) desperately ill people looking for a cure. The genius here is that he went right outside the playbook and picked e) idiots.

Then he had to find a group of idiots who would fall for a scam. That was actually the easy part, as it was pretty hard not to notice how many people had voted Trump in 2016.

And like all good stories, it came full circle: You have idiots voting in a scam artist who promised them Mexico would pay for the Wall, and then when that fell through, those same idiots were specifically targeted by another scam artist to get them to pay for the Wall because they showed themselves gullible enough to fall for the first scam artist.

And in the end, all they bought was a yacht for a scam artist.

Sometime in the next fifty years, they will make a movie about this. Or at least they should.

... makes you wonder what other morally passable ways there are to milk far right populism while it's still hot.

I saw was poop fistpumping fraud. I like arguing with poop, I read his posts more than yours.

idk, fucknugget works pretty well there, too.

Morally vapid people don't deserve to be fucked over by other morally vapid people. If you actually believe that, than how are you not morally vapid? I just used the word "vapid" three times without actually knowing what it means. I'll assume "bereft". Google says nope. Vapid means bland? Morally bland? Bereft is a better word, it means lacking.

Morally bereft people don't deserve to be fucked over by other morally bereft people. They deserve to be fucked over by the justice system.

Also, calling an Austrian "Mozart" is surely racist? Sorry, xenophobic. What if I called you Pedro?

    That is true!

Morally vapid people don't deserve to be fucked over by other morally vapid people.
I think morals are necessarily built on reciprocity... actually I don't think that's true, but it sounds good.
