This is a little simplistic.

I'm talking about the countries who are prioritising whether to make a deal with us or with the EU.

We didn't vote for more red tape.

I think you're confusing the Brexit lie that we'd be getting rid of all the EU red tape with the reality that if we trade with the EU from outside the EU, there's going to be more red tape.

The EU is notoriously bureaucratic, understanding and abiding by EU regulations requires significant time and investment for companies that want to trade with EU partners. More so now, which isn't a surprise when it comes to the EU because we still have to deal with their red tape

We voted to leave the EU, we were told, partly because of all the red tape. Now we're out, but we still want to trade with the EU. Except now there's extra red tape because we're no longer in the EU.
