I still say a safety should be a defensive touchdown. 2 points + possession is nowhere near enough of a reward for such a rare and difficult play.

no sir. 2 pts is too many, esp when called against the pats. i would say the team that causes the safety against the pats should lose several points for putting TOM BRADY in danger.

i'm torn on what i think about the patriots defense this game. dirty sanchez hasn't made any his usual dirty mistakes

Watching that Lynch run live, I really thought he was going to lean into Lewis and just take the yardage before he juked out of it for the win. It's shameful that he's 10x better than Shaun Alexander and hasn't had 1/100th the career.

Because no one in the media has ever put Tom Brady's penis near their mouth region?

I may be bias, but Rodgers is on pace to match/surpass Brady's 2007. I think that deserves some recognition.

I feel terribly for Lee about Schaub being possibly/likely out for the season.

You can take a hit to any other position on your team but few, if any teams in the NFL can replace good quarterback play. If he's truly out then hopes of the Texans winning a playoff game are basically shot.

See the Colts season for what a good QB means to a team. The Pats' '08 season was a huge aberration given that the '07 team was historically good and they had a ridiculously easy schedule in '08 (the same seasons where the Dolphins made up 15(!) games to win the division.)

Maybe Leinart has an epiphany, but I doubt it.

Notable wins in postseason with backup QBs:

2001 Pats over Pittsburgh -- obviously Bledsoe was an 8-year starter, he also didn't play well in the game

1992 Bills -- won 2 playoff games with Frank Reich. There was the famous comeback from 35-3 vs. Houston and Reich played great in a 24-3 win over Pittsburgh the next week. Reich also played most of the Super Bowl against Dallas after Kelly got hurt, both threw 2 picks in the 52-17 debacle.

1990 Giants -- won the Super Bowl with Jeff Hostetler at QB. Hostetler took over for Phil Simms, who was probably having the best year of his career when he got hurt late in the season.

At least Leinart has played in big games before, but I wouldn't be optimistic.

It's really hard not to like Rodgers. Drew Brees also seems like a genuinely cool guy.

I actually think Houston will be "ok" with Leinart in at QB. They're not going to need him to throw for 300 yeards and 3 TDs a game to win.

They actually have a pretty good team around him and can certainly run the ball down people's thoats. Getting Johnson back soon should help out(assuming he is coming back soon).

I think if the coaches just ask him to be a game manager then as a team the Texans should be ok, granted I don't see them competing for a SB with Leinart but stranger things have happend.

Tim Tebow magical touchdown run against the Jets - YouTube

i was converted a long time ago and to any haters left, how can you not love this kid? he gives it his all and more every week and genuinely wants to win more than anyone i've ever seen in my life except mebbe prefontaine. and whats more this kid does it with everyone laughing in his face. say what you will about him being an awful qb but 4-1 is very impressive. now you might say special teams and defense but when the game is on the line late in the 4th the late drives have been all Tebow and he's always came through.

So when Suh isn't throwing QBs down by their helmet 5 seconds after the play, or bragging to the media over and over again about how he is being unfairly targeted because he is so strong, or going to the league office because he can't understand basic rules, he is stomping on opponents... nice. Waiting for the Lions homers to not so kindly explain to me why I'm wrong, a hater, or in other humorous terms.

Back on topic, I don't see how Suh can say he didn't do that on purpose. He drove the dude's head into the ground. TWICE. wtf?
  53. #503
I'm speechless right now. Suh might be the dumbest human being alive. There's just no rational explanation for him trying to justify what he did. It's really fucking embarrassing for the entire organization and he's single handedly giving the organization a reputation as dirty. I defended the first couple hits of his career but pretty much every team the Lions have played this season has called them dirty afterwards. It's absolutely pathetic and Schwartz needs to get this shit under control, oh wait he's too busy starting fights with other coaches. f this team, I still like Schwartz but I would not be upset if Suh gets shipped out of town and I wouldn't be surprised if he does since he'll probably reverse suplex Drew Brees next week and then kick him in the nuts after sodomizing him with the first down marker and then be genuinely surprised when he gets kicked out of the game because he's the dumbest fucking person to ever exist on this planet

I just want to send out a big thank you to Suh for taking out the one player Packer fans were concerned with coming into the game. I thought we were in trouble when Sitton went out in the second quarter with an injury. Suh then comes to the rescue and bails us out by being a dipshit against a player that has practically zero game experience in the NFL.

    Thanks!

I'm going to be honest, I never particularly cared for the guy before this happened. He played dirty IMO (different than hard, more on that in a second), and came off like he had a 'can do no wrong' sense of entitlement.

I love when football players give it 100% to the whistle. This includes DBs tackling, receivers blocking, and nasty line play, but it is supposed to get cut off by the whistle. I have been unfortunate enough to have to watch the Ravens and Steelers whoop the Browns many times, and while guys like Ray Lewis and Suggs are ruthless, I have never, ever, ever seen them pull crap like this. They just have too much respect for the game and the other team, and you don't see that in some players. Another somewhat recent example after the league was cracking down on hits from/to the helmet on defenseless players, I vividly remember watching a game where Polamalu had the chance to decapitate a receiver over the middle, and instead made a perfect form tackle and IIRC dislodged the ball anyway.

I hope Suh gets it together because 1) I try to root for other FTRers teams, and 2) he has the potential to be great for the NFL, there aren't too many defensive tackles in NFL history that have the name recognition and marketabilty etc, though I think the latter just took a big hit.

One more note on the above^, I respect the hell out of Polamalu though that doesn't extend to the rest of that team.
  60. #510
Suh's a dumbass. This stuff is going to follow him the rest of his career, and when you play a position where you're in contact away from the ball on every play, you're already subject to a lot of marginally legal/dirty stuff and not get the benefit of the doubt from referees.

Mmm... if he legitimately gets his act together IMMEDIATELY and doesn't do anything stupid by the end of next year, I think most people will brush it off as a maturity thing (myself included) and that he's moved on. Obviously this means he'd have to perform at a high level still, which I don't see as being a problem.

Still my 2nd favorite player on the team (Megatron ldo).
