    Default Not getting cable?

Moving to Texas in a few weeks and need to schedule with Time Warner. Fiance and I have been talking about not getting cable, just getting internet, and using services like Netflix, Hulu, ESPN 3 via parents account, downloadin', etc. My biggest concern is not being able to watch soccer. Most games are either on FSC or ESPN3. FSC has an internet subscription but it seems any game they broadcast on TV (usually Arsenal) cannot be watched until the next day. That's a major problem since I really only want to watch them. Anything else I should take into consideration for not getting cable?

Also, what speed do I need? They offer 10, 20, 30, or 40 mbps. 30+ seems to almost make this not cost effective since there's a package for cable and 20mbps for like $89 a month, and the 30 mbps is like $60 a month.

I got rid of cable earlier in the year and have had no issues.

I want to get rid of cable, but would miss watching sports too much. It still feels somewhat wasteful.

As Bikes said, your download speed doesn't really matter because most sites can only provide so much bandwidth to you. It's been awhile since I checked, but getting over 500k on one download was about tops.

You can watch pretty much any premiere league match online for free if you can handle the shite video quality and foreign language commentary.

Really don't want to do this...I just wish FSC wasn't so antiquated with their content delivery.

If only you could get Sky Sports out there on satellite, the American commentators on FSC and ESPN are so irritating

Are Arsenal games not on Fox Soccer 2 Go?

All games aired on FSC or FSC+ are delayed on FS2Go. They are typically on-demand by midnight. Arsenal is usually broadcasted so I don't anticipate being able to watch a live stream regularly.

I just wrote an angry email to Fox Soccer asking why they're forcing people to watch the TV broadcast. I realize they need to do this when a match is on a competitor's broadcast in the States. Otherwise, it just seems like they're forcing us to watch on TV even though we're a paying 2Go customer. We'll see how they respond.

Also, right now the plan is to stream movies via a computer with windows media center to an xBox. Would it be worth buying something like google TV?

I can't imagine ever paying for cable TV again. But I also couldn't care less about watching sports.

My parents own a slingbox that I have access to and that my siblings on the west coast use to watch philly sports. It's a $200 flat rate which isn't the most cost-effective thing in the world, and you would need to hook it up to someone who does have cable, but I thought I'd just share. It's also non-perfect (you generally have to watch on a 30 second delay if you don't want it to be tiltingly jumpy), but it has come in handy a lot.

    himself fucker.
While 10 down is more than enough, when they advertise 10 there's no FCC rule saying they have to deliver 10. I'd expect to get 2.

Or move to Kansas City and get on the google 1 gbps bandwagon.

Get a tv antenna and watch local sports broadcasts over the air in HD for free. Connect to computer with a tuner and record shows. Check out Rocu, tivo, and googletv.

My father in law gave me his fios login info. So I can log into watchespn on my iPad, use remote access on desktop to view, but can't get it to work on Xbox for live events. Ideas?
