sucks having a decent team but being destined to finish 3rd or 4th in your division every year.

I'm curious how many winning seasons combined our two teams have had in the last decade or so.

If I had to venture a guess, I'd say 2.

So, Browns v Jets tonight. There are a lot of players and matchups that I'll be watching, but one really sticks out in my mind

The Jets O-line, in particular, the left side with Da'Brick, Faneca, and Mangold vs. the Browns newly re-vamped D-line, which for all intents and purposes, also includes Kam Wimbley. He is basically a right end and has a sick outside duck-under move. Now last year what happened is the QB would step up in the pocket and the LT would shove him outside. Hopefully we can get an actual push up the middle, which was unheard of last year.

Our last one was 2000. Look at this sadness, especially the playoff history.

Me. I don't care about the outcome of the games but I want to see some football, see the starters play for a small portion of the game, then see players I likely won't see a whole lot of for the rest of the season. really.

of course, i will be much more excited in a month or so when the real games start.

I'm also interested in the preseason. I want to get my first look at Drew Stanton tonight.

i just cant stand it when people make predictions based on the preseason, if you know what i mean, because the preseason means absolutely nothing.

    Agree.

I just want to see Darren McFadden in a Raider uni. Not in a gay way though.

preseason records mean little but saying the preseason is meaningless is wrong.
  20. #20
It means something, but mainly to the coaches and scouts. Information the general public gleans from the pre-season is usually completely wrong, or only right by accident.

okay, if miami went 4-0 this year, would that lead you to believe they are going to have a good year?

edit: im just trying to make a point that you cant make good predictions based on the preseason. theres probably a greater correlation between reg season record from previous season.

happy that farve went to the jets. i didnt want him commanding the bucs against my panthers. a couple of interesting facts about the nfc south

Until the 2007-08 playoffs, a team from the NFC South had appeared in every NFC Championship Game since the 2002 realignment: Tampa Bay (2002), Carolina (2003 & 2005), Atlanta (2004), and New Orleans (2006). The NFC South is also the first division since the realignment that has had each team in the division make at least one NFC Championship Game appearance.

From 2003 to 2007, the team that finished in last place in the division year has, the next season, finished in first place. Carolina finished last in 2002, and first in 2003. Atlanta finished last in 2003, and first in 2004. Tampa Bay finished last in 2004, and first in 2005. New Orleans finished last in 2005, and finished first in 2006. Tampa Bay, who finished last in 2006, finished first in 2007. If the trend continues in 2008, it would be Atlanta Falcons.

The Colts are a good example of this. Every year it seems.. 0-4 in the preseason. But if you watch the one or two series that Manning plays, the offense looks SHARP. You can tell they have some talent.

But the starters play so little, and it seems like there's little to no game planning and strategy.

I didn't watch the HOF game, so I can't really say if what I said would apply this year. I do know they lost though.

BROWNS are on my hit list after the cincy cleveland game last year. That should have been easy money. Browns go 8-8 this year.

ok... they are stacked, easily could have made it last year. losing brett isnt that big of a deal now we will have a qb who wont be fucking up play off games making retarded throws. rodgers will probably put up pro bowl type numbers. go ahead and save that quote and you will see by the end of the season.

+1 I watched the Family Night Scrimmage and ARogers looks very good and he will surprise a lot of people. He throws a very nice ball with some heat. The team worked very hard in the offseason, they had a ridiculously high attendance percentage in off season workouts and voluntary OTA's, and this is still essentially the same team as last year, without BFavre obv. Although, Brett was fading in the big games the last few years, not just last year. IMO, he quit in the Dallas game last year before leaving to injury; he was chucking and ducking like if he was in a backyard game.

i define pro bowl numbers as such: 3500+ yds, 22+ TD's, >60% completion.

eh, he might be able to do it. the packers have some weapons.

Plus the fact that the NFC is relatively weak quarterback-wise compared to the AFC where you basically have two guys almost guaranteed to take up 2/3rds of the AFC QB pro bowl spots.

This all has merit, but i think he will struggle this year. Even with the weapons he has, he is under a ton of pressure. 1 or 2 bad games and he might end up being a head case.

I don't think he's going to make the pro bowl, in fact I think he's going to be pretty bad. All I was saying is that since he's in the NFC, it's at least possible where as if he were in the AFC, he'd basically have no shot.

The Chiefs looked pretty good against the Bears. Granted, it was the freaking Bears, but they looked okay. Hopefully two years from now all of our young pups will turn into badasses and the Chiefs can get back to their glory days when they made the Playoffs every year just to get bounced in the first round. Wouldn't that be something!

The Raider D looked pretty good. Especially the secondary, which could be the best in the NFL. McFadden also looked great.

I know its too early to say, but this could be the start of us not sucking.

Usi out for the year, wow, that shakes things up in the NFC a bit.

Teams need to start taking their cues for LT, sit out during the preseason, seriously what did Umenyiora need to prove playing in a preseason game?

The Dunning–Kruger effect is a cognitive bias in which unskilled individuals suffer from illusory superiority, mistakenly rating their ability much higher than average. This bias is attributed to a metacognitive inability of the unskilled to recognize their mistakes
