This Texans team will be entirely different from that of the 2-14 season, it looks like.

This is really not a good thing. Unproved but highly touted backup for a pretty decent QB. I honestly wouldn't be to angry with Roethlisberger being traded for Carr.

Schaub won't be able to block for himself.

The real headline here is that Atlanta is sticking with Mike Vick.

Another 2-14 season isn't going to happen, their defense has improved way too much. Are they good enough to contend for a playoff spot though? I have my doubts but they must think they can, otherwise they wouldn't have given up this much in the trade.

horrible trade for Texans. Wow. W0w that trade is so bad. It isn't even close to being even.

    Notice my wording pplz.

I said it would be DIFFERENT. Never said in a good or bad way.

When NFL.com initially reported it, it was Schaub for a 2nd rounder. This was me :

Then, the actual terms of the deal came out. 2nd rounder this year, 2nd rounder next year, and trade two spots down this year. This was me

WTF is with this club and second round picks??!?! The only good one we've had is DeMeco. We keep trading them away (Thanks Tony Hollings, thanks Philip Buchannon) or sucking with them (thanks Jabar Gaffney, thanks Bennie Joppru). The only one we hit hard was DeMeco. And NOW WE TRADE AWAY THIS YEAR'S AND NEXT YEARS?!?!?! AAAAAAAAAAAGH!!!

Of course, I guess anybody but Carr would work for the chemistry of this team. The locker room has slowly but surely turned against him. One of the leaders of the defense called him out this offseason, pretty much saying 'he needs to move on.'

    Dude.

If the Ravens can get Willis McGehee for two 3rd round picks, how the fuck did the Texans only get MATT SCHAUB?

and lol @ texans being playof contenders lol

No offense Texan fans but, Colts are still a playoff team, Titans got a lot better, Jags are still consistently Okay - no room for below average Texans with mystery-lvl QB.

(ps im a colts fan, ty for free wins)

I did. You said "wow" twice. To me that meant "holy shit this is awesome," when really it just means you have Matt Schaub as your QB now.

Well when I thought it was for one second rounder, straight up, I was thinking "HOLY SHIT THIS IS AWESOME."

Now, not so much. Still kinda stoked though.

If he can be better than Carr (yay 1 TD pass in teh last 10 weeks of hte season), then hey. Go with what works.

I don't necessarily agree Phantaroth. Every year a couple of really shitty teams suddenly become decent. The Texans IMO are going to be one of them IF Schaub plays well. I could honestly see them winning 9 or 10 games which may or may not be good enough to make the playoffs in the AFC. I think the Titans are going to be terrible again next year.

    YES. VERY MUCH SO.

    I don't need no stinking 2 ypc.

And if you dare try to bring up that play vs. the bears, THAT PLAY SHOULD NEVER HAVE HAPPENED. IT IS ILLEGAL TO THROW A PICK TO MAKE A RECEIVER OPEN. It should have been a penalty!!!

Disclaimer: I'm a huge Houston Texans fan
2nd disclaimer: I don't know 1/3rd of the things Lee knows about them

I absolutely hate this for one reason. That reason is not Reggie Bush it is Vince Young. How fucking dare McNair and Kubiak pull this shit a year after passing up on Young (a Houston native) for Mario Williams. Kubiak comes in, praises Carr, neglects to pick up one of the greatest CFB players of all time and a year later cuts "his guy". What the fuck are they thinking here? Let's give up more draft picks, lose the chance that AP falls to you at 8 and put Schaub as the face of the organization. How about this, trade Carr to pick up two 3rd rounders, use those 2 3rd rounders and your 8th pick to trade up and take Peterson. Then, let Kubiak get off his fat ass and go talk to Plummer.
  19. #19
If someone was willing to trade a decent pick for carr, they would have done that, but no one wanted to trade for him because his salary was too high.

You can always restructure, he's not about to be picky.

You think way too highly of Vince Young.

To be fair, Carr was more "Caper's guy" than Kubiak's. Plus, THE 2006 DRAFT HAPPENED ALREADY. We can't change it now.

Plus, you're an aggie. Don't you explode when you praise longhorns?

As for AP, well...I doubt he would have lasted 'till the 8th pick. We've got a few players on our radar that we can pick up at 10 just as easily as 8. Landry would be fantastic! )

His contract was just waaaaaaay too big to move. He was getting paid top 10 QB salary or something ridiculous like that. Best value we probably could have gotten would have been like a 5th rounder or something, IF that.

But McNair's trying to do the 'classy' thing and let David have the best chance of finding a starting job SOMEWHERE in the NFL. Would I rather have draft picks? YES.

But...I'm not the Texans organization. (

By the way, we should got to a Texans game sometime. I'm a season ticket holder. You wanna come?

Um.....fuck yea!! I move to Houston April 25th. Do you live in Austin or Houston?
  24. #24
And yea Lee, it's tough to like a Tsip but he's pretty much a great player, a great competitor, and a pretty decent person for all I can tell and he plays for my 2nd fav team (former Oilers).

Oh yea, it's not too bad being an Aggie fan in the rivalry this year

    Hah Sweet.

I live in Austin, but I'll be in Houston once summer starts for my internship.

At the very least, we can hit up practices and preseason. You'd be better be the type that never sits down and always cheers, 'cause we're gonna be sitting in the bullpen.

teams don't give up first day picks for backup-caliber players with massive salaries

at least the jury is still out on schaub, even though I think they still paid wayyyy too much for him.

also, I thought RB was the pick last year for HOU. In fact, I think the titans reached picking young at 3, letalone 1.

The people comparing the McGahee trade to Schaub must play fantasy or Madden or some shit. A QB with even a glimmer of a chance at being a decent franchise QB is worth way more in the modern NFL than any RB who isn't just downright special (AP, LT in his prime, etc). RB and QB are like the polar opposite when it comes to trade value. Aside from the obvious fact that they're just plain more valuable to an offense without considering market conditions, there's the fact that there are almost twice as many starting QB positions in the NFL as there are starting-caliber QBs. Conversely there are easily twice as many serviceable RBs in the NFL as there are RB positions.

No joke, I'd be interested to see who would get more on the trade market (barring contracts and the fact that the Eagles have no interest in trading either of them): Foles or McCoy. We can't know for sure, obviously, but I wouldn't be surprised if some barely-at-all-proven-to-be-serviceable young quarterback demands as much as the second best RB in the NFL.
