Default looking for an old game pre windows98 era

Im looking for an old game, i cant remember the name of it.
I do remember...

It was a turn based medieval(ish) war game.
You had armies that had to surround opponents armies to defeat them.
It was based in Europe / Persia.
Opponents turns were computer generated.
It was a little bit like diplomacy but simpler.
Macedonia and Rome were the names of 2 Armies.
The game was freeware, given away with compilation disks in PC magazines.

Ive spent hours googling, nothing.

wasn't any of the early civilization games? like Civ 1 maybe
9. #9
I've seen screen shots of civilization.
Doesn't look right. Also. Maybe early civilization is too early.
I remember that on the amiga.

I keep coming back to this thread hoping its been answered, because I can't think what it would be and feel like I should. Definately sounds like Civ. Not Civ 2 by any chance?
Just dipping my toes back in.

Its not Civ cos...

It's 3000 B.C., dawn of civilization. Wait, which Civ do I wanna play? America? Aztec? Babylon? Chinese? Egypt? English? French? German? Greeks? Indian? Mongols? Romans? Russians? Zulu?

The countries are wrong, it was Rome, Macedonia & more. Plus the screen shots wrong.

Its not a sim city/ populous type game. more diplomacy with armies.

I must attempt a sketch,

Say you chose Rome, you started with a tiny army and a small patch of land, say 15 squares (honeycomb shaped i think) , you move , you move 5 of our units in any direction, then the computer takes every other countries moves simultaneously as the game progresses some countries get dominated and wiped out.

Greece was another country / province. Gee, im on the verge of remembering the name of it.

when was the first Europa Universalis made? Sounds like it could be an early crude version of that game.
eeevees are not monies yet...they are like baby monies.

Looks like Minesweeper.
25. #25
Based on the drawing, it's clearly a very early version of Civ5.

...or Oregon Trail.
26. #26
The Oregon Trail screen shots I googled were pictures of cowboys & indians, So I disregarded it.

also , the title "Oregon Trail" is wrong,

. Ill check out more screen shots , from civ5 too.

looking up Civ1 , its pretty close, but too advanced.
Also , my sketch is quite accurate.

The earliest Civilian I can find, from the Amiga, its not the same game, you didnt find scrolls etc. so its not CIV.

First time I heard about anal fissures was through a co-worker. He described in vivid detail the process of having them, temporarily having a colostomy bag etc.

As if the term "anal fissures" wasn't bad enough, not I visualize it all every time I hear it.

THAT'S IT !!

Soon as I saw the title, yes it was shareware, I remember they wanted people to upgrade, I never did, but enjoyed it immensely.

Thanks, Ive put a lot of internet time into finding this.

Well done miffed22001.

Sorry to be tardy to the party, but for future reference try here:

The "Can't remember the name of this game" Thread

There is no game that cannot be found even with minimal description.

There's no point in trying to get Celtic to use the search function.
