Online gambling (poker, etc.) is/has been legal in the US.

There is no law on the federal level that outlaws poker (online or otherwise). There are a couple of outdated laws on interstate money transfers, designed to prevent fraud, which were misinterpreted by some to read that online gambling is illegal.

Whether online gambling is legal or not is a "states issue". So it depends on the laws in each state as to whether it is legal or not. Some states it is; some states it's not; some states it's kind of hard to tell, but no prosecutions have taken place (to date).

I was pretty sure the uigea made it illegal for businesses to run a poker room, and Nevada getting a license means the gov is allowing tthem to circumvent it?

The UIGEA very specifically stated that it was not changing the legality of any type of gambling online.

The UIGEA only made it illegal for banks to facilitate money transfers involving illegal gambling -- but it didn't define what was "illegal gambling".

Because that definition was vague, the Justice Department decided to interpret the Wire Act as a federal law against illegal gambling and then use the UIGEA to charge PS, FTP, etc., on Black Friday.

A more recent interpretation of the Wire Act by the Justice Department (different division) said that it only applies to interstate sports betting and nothing else. They were asked by states that wanted to sell lottery tickets online, but since the new interpretation is so specific, that means that poker is (and always has been) exempted from the Wire Act.

sounds more like live due to medical ventilator.
If things were to magically revert to January 1st, 2003, only I could take everything I know now in terms of poker ability/knowledge, bonus clearing, etc., I think it's safe to say that it would be trivially easy to make over a million dollars.
