I'm 6'1" and 195 which makes me slightly overweight by BMI...but I'm also 50, so I'm not complaining.

I am not fat, but I am a little weak

I have been implementing a new work out program this month and am already feeling a lot stronger, by the end of November I plan on being able to bench my own weight and squat and deadlift about 1.5x my bodyweight.

OH yea, all I eat everyday is pasta and ground beef, 5-6 times a day.

Can't really comment on that... have been lucky with my metabolism. From what I've seen with other people though is that the specific diets never work in the long term. You have to change your eating habits permanently, so change it to something you can keep up.

The best I've got is: Don't force yourself to eat something that you hate just because it's healthy - find something you like.

Until then you might want to look into the bear community:

Its not difficult to drop weight if you want to.

The easiest thing to do is to find a high energy sport that you enjoy and really get into it so that your training at least 4 hrs a week. Going to the gym is hard because unless you have a good training partner that you can be competitve with it gets pretty boring. Doing a sport is easy by comparison because you also have the people you play with to motivate you even on days where you are feeling tired or lazy.

As far as diet goes, just eliminate all fast food, soft drinks and beer. Cook your own food and use fresh ingredients ie no processed crap or stuff that you just need to warm up in the microwave. Eating less also helps but it sucks to feel hungry all the time.

guess I'm missing the joke here, I feel weak when the truth is I'm probably stronger than the avg. person for my weight/size/age

variety is the spice of life.

seriously though, don't eat the same thing every meal, that's bad both from health and sanity perspectives.

meh I take vitamins and am eating only whole-grain pasta and lean meats, I would think from a health perspective I'm getting everything I need. Also, I don't mind doing the same thing every meal, as long as I get results I can handle the repetitiveness.

lol at people saying theyre fat at 6'1" 195. That seems like a decent build, no? when i was in peak shape with like no body fat i weighed 220-230 lbs @ 6'4". Now im a huge fatass at 290, but i'm slowly starting to work that out. Just started exercising/eating better like 2 weeks ago and am down 6 pounds, and ive cheated 2-3 times with fast food already. I think the lowest realistic weight i can get to would be 240ish, but i would be exstatic to get down to 250.

I take vitamins as well (2x animal pak/day), but there's still a lot of stuff you get in veggies, fruit, fish, various pieces of meat and poultry, nuts, and oils that can't be recreated with a pill and 1 meal.

    example: phytochemicals

With spring only a couple months away, Boog is already in the gym trying to fit into his clown costume and everyone is going to start getting in shape I wanted to give you guys a little video to watch concerning diets. It's a little clinical in spots but it's a year long study comparing 4 different macro diets including the Zone, Atkins, Ornish and the national guidelines. Great video.

    Good bump.

In my experience the real challenge isn't in technique - it's in motivation. Or rather, it's in sustained motivation. I'm sure we can all go on determination for a shorter or longer period of time, but the real trick is to find out how to manipulate ourselves so that the healthy choice is also the one that we will unthinkingly prefer.

    Recently I read this article:
    http://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/0...20break&st=cse

Upon reflection I find that I relate to the findings described. I buy the idea that vegetables are just outright more attractive when I have used my body. Previously in this thread there has been some lambasting of cardio - I guess my argument would be that if having done cardio means I am naturally motivated to and liking the taste of vegetables and water over fatty food and alcoholic drinks then doing the cardio is still worthwhile. The bad food that I don't eat is as much a step in the right direction as the pre-existing fat that I burn off.

And manipulating myself to being naturally inclined to eating healthy and doing some form of exercise is a million times more valuable than any amount of determination. Lame mind-games do work, but I do prefer things like reading the above article, understanding how a positive feedback loop can exist, allow myself to recognize it in myself and reinforce it when I find it.
