    Default HockeyBoy's Sportsbetting Blog

I have decided to start up a sportsbetting blog of the bets I make. I joined this site as I play poker recreationally and I am enjoying it. I thought I would join this site to learn more from others about poker so that I can improve my game. What I do to really make some good cash is make sportsbets. I will list my bets as I go along and indicate my strategy of betting along the way. I'll update next on Friday as that is when our local sportsbetting lottery form comes out. I use that form as a springboard to what wagers I make. Take a look on Friday, Sept. 22/06 if you get a chance. Later, HockeyBoy.

    Default Bets I Made Today

Here is my initial selection of NFL bets for week 3 after looking at our provincial lottery odds. My bets are:

    $200 on Buffalo -6.5 +104
    $200 on Pittsburgh -2.5 +101
    $200 on Tennessee +10 +106
    $200 on Chicago -4.5 +107
    $6000 on Carolina -4.5 +123

The above bets were made at Pinnacle and for most of the games I am giving up a half point to a point and a half to get closer to the spread on the sports lottery sheet. I have also made 70 $100 10-team parlay tickets for a total of $7000.

On all of those tickets I have Tampa Bay +4.5, Cleveland +8.5, Denver +7.5, New Orleans +4.5. The key game for me this weekend is the Carolina / Tampa Bay matchup at 1:00 EST on Sunday. Please note that the payoff for the 10 team parlay tickets are as follows:

    10 out of 10 - 400x your wager; 9 out of 10 - 20x your wager

I am also making one 12-team $50 parlay ticket wager on U.S. college football. The teams/spreads I have on that ticket are:
Wisconsin +14, Minnesota -2.5, Ohio St. -16.5, California -7.5, Indiana -1.5, Arkansas -1.5, Air Force +1.5, Stanford +10.5, Washington +3.5, Boston College -6.5, Michigan St. +3.5, Houston +1.5. The payoff for the 12-team parlay ticket are as follows:

    12 out of 12 - 1000x your wager; 11 out of 12 - 50x your wager; 10 out of 12 - 10x your wager

I may be making additional wagers after some more calculations. If I make additional bets they will be posted late tonight or on Saturday.
I should also note that since I started betting on college football/NFL at the beginning of this season I am currently down $271.50. Thus any profits/losses on this weekend's betting would take that figure into account. Later, HockeyBoy

Here are the bets I made on games that started at 4:00 or 4:15 p.m. on Sunday:

    $5000 on Baltimore -8.5 +115
    $5000 on Arizona -6 +110
    $5000 on Philadelphia -7.5 +124

Bets were made at Pinnacle. I will put in an update after these games are over as I will place a bet on the late game after the results of the above three games are complete. I have lots of parlay tickets that are still LIVE. Any remaining tickets that are still live after the late games are over will be detailed.

Here is the bet I made on the late game on Sunday night:

    $13500 on New England -7.5 +117

This bet was made at Pinnacle. Also, of the 70 $100 parlay tickets I bought, 5 remain LIVE. Four of those tickets have 7 of the first 8 games correct. The remaining ticket has all 8 of the first 8 games correct. All of the remaining tickets have Denver at +7.5 and New Orleans at +4.5.

The potential payoff for these tickets:
    10 of 10 - $100 ticket pays $40,000
    9 of 10 - $100 ticket pays $2,000
  5. #5
I have to make a big bet on Atlanta today as I have five parlay tickets that remain LIVE. I have New Orleans at +4.5 on those tickets and if they cover, the parlay tickets will cash for $48,000. One of those tickets has 9 out of the first 9 correct so even if New Orleans doesn't cover that ticket still pays me $2,000. I have to make an offsetting bet on Atlanta to protect myself otherwise I will sustain a huge loss this weekend. I had to make a large deposit into my Pinnacle account and just made the bet there and it is:

    $26,500.00 on Atlanta -4 -106

I have a chance at a half middle on this game. If Atlanta wins by exactly 4 the above bet pushes and my parlay bets all cash. Fingers crossed!

Wow your posts are a sick read. I don't think I'd be able to enjoy the games with so much riding on them (obviously I imagine your financial situation allows this).

Anyway very cool stuff, gl tonight.

Did Atlanta win by 4? NOT! A tough week of betting for me. I have parlay tickets that I will be cashing for $48,000 but sustained heavy losses on single game bets for a total loss since this cycle of betting began on Friday. Down $9238.00 since Friday. OUCH!!! Combining that with the $271.50 I was down entering this weekend I am down $9509.50 since Sept. 1. At that time I had set aside $50K for betting and I am already down almost 20% so I will have to reduce the size of my bets starting this week. Once I cash the parlay tickets I will be sending $30K of it off to Pinnacle to replenish that account. The next set of NFL odds come out on the provincial lottery website (olgc.ca; then click PROLINE) on Wednesday of this week. Next update then.

Yeah I watched the ATL game it was flat out ugly. Wtf was their offensive line doing all night. Gross stuff and I was thinking about you and sharing your pain

Gl next week dude. And yeah i agree that you should tone down the betting, don't pull a Chris Moneymaker (read his book if you want to hear about some addictive sports gambling before he won the WSOP. It almost ruined his life)

Yeah Atlanta was pretty bad on Monday night. I think New Orleans was just so pumped for that game (return to the Superdome) nothing could stop them.

Here is my initial selection of NFL bets for week 4 after looking at our provincial lottery odds. My bets are:

    $101 on Indy -9 -101
    $100 on K.C. -7.5 +105
    $100 on Carolina -7.5 Even
    $150 on Atlanta -8.5 +116
    $150 on Miami -4.5 +113
    $2300 on Cincinnati -7.5 +139

The above bets were made at Pinnacle and for most of the games I am giving up a half point to a point and a half to get closer to the spread on the sports lottery sheet. I have also made 62 $50 10-team parlay tickets for a total of $3100. On all of those tickets I have New England +7.5, Seattle +3.5, Green Bay +12.5. The key game for me this weekend is the New England / Cincinnati matchup at 4:15 EST on Sunday. Please note that the payoff for the 10 team parlay tickets are as follows:

    10 out of 10 - 400x your wager; 9 out of 10 - 20x your wager

My strategy for betting on the NFL via the provincial sports lottery (www.olgc.ca) is to look for value on the pointspread form provided by that lottery. I look for a game where I can find the most value. The game this week that offers the most value is New England at +7.5. That compares with a spread of +6 that most online sportsbooks are currently offering. I then combine that key game on provincial parlay tickets using a complex method I have devised. I also make an offsetting bet on the other side of the key game. If that offsetting bet comes in it covers the amount I have spent on the parlay tickets and gives me a little profit on the side. The smaller bets you see above are to offset teams/spreads that are sprinkled more heavily than others on the parlay tickets. Those teams and spreads on the parlay form this week are: NY Jets +9.5, San Fran. +7.5, New Orleans +7.5, Arizona +8.5, Houston +4.5, Detroit +6.5, Washington +3.
The lottery tends to alter the spreads a bit when it comes out with a revised list on Friday. I'll post another update that day if I see anything I like.

I have made one 10-team $50 parlay ticket wager on U.S. college football using the spreads that were posted at our provincial lottery website (www.olgc.ca; then click proline). The teams/spreads I have on that ticket are: Duke +6.5, Navy +3.5, Wyoming +5.5, Ohio -4.5, Florida -13.5, Virginia Tech -9.5, Arizona St. +2.5, Oregon St. +9.5, Kansas St. +2.5, Minnesota +10.5. On all of the above games I am getting an extra half point to a point and a half compared to lines at online sportsbooks so it offers good value. The payoff for this 10-team parlay ticket is: 10 out of 10 - $20,000; 9 out of 10 - $1000.

Here is an additional selection of NFL parlay bets for week 4 after looking at our Friday provincial lottery list. They have altered some of the lines compared to the Wednesday list and there is one game on this new list that offers incredible value (Washington +4.5). That game starts at 4:15 and I am making these parlay wagers attaching five different 1:00 games to that game. In addition, on all of these parlay tickets I also have Seattle (late Sunday night game) and Green Bay (Monday night game) on them. The 4-team parlay bets are:

    $500 on Balt. +3, Wash. +4.5, Seattle +3.5, Green Bay +12.5
    $500 on Buffalo +1.5, Wash. +4.5, Seattle +3.5, Green Bay +12.5
    $500 on San Fran. +7.5, Wash. +4.5, Seattle +3.5, Green Bay +12.5
    $500 on New Orleans +7.5, Wash. +4.5, Seattle +3.5, Green Bay +12.5
    $500 on Arizona +8.5, Wash. +4.5, Seattle +3.5, Green Bay +12.5

The payoff for any of the above bets if they come in are $5000. I have also made some small offsetting bets on the first games that give me an opportunity to hit some "middles" or "half-middles". These bets were just made at Bowmans (I want to churn the money in that account a little bit; re: recent reload deposit):

    $165 on San Diego -2.5 -110
    $165 on Minnesota +1 -110
    $165 on Kansas City -7 -110
    $165 on Carolina -7 -110
    $210 on Atlanta -7.5 -105

That should be all the betting I will be making until Sunday. I will monitor the 1:00 Sunday games closely and make the appropriate offsetting bets on the 4:15 Sunday games depending on how the early games go.

I made two bets on the later afternoon NFL games. Bets were made at Pinnacle and are:

    $1700 on Jacksonville -3 +112
    $500 on St. Louis -6.5 +111

I may make a bet on the late game. Update later tonight.
  14. #14
I will be making a bet on the late Sunday night game. I need to make an offsetting bet on Chicago as 3 of my 5 $500 4-team parlay tickets remain LIVE while 6 of my 62 $50 10-team parlay tickets remain LIVE. For the $50 10-team tickets, I have 7 of the first 8 games correct on those 6 tickets. I need to hit the last two games in order to get the $1000 payoff. On all of my remaining tickets I have Seattle +3.5 and Green Bay +12.5. I have just made this bet at Pinnacle:

    $5300 on Chicago -3.5 -106
  15. #15
I have lost $4312 since the latest cycle of betting began on Wednesday. Thus my total loss since Sept. 1 is $13,821.50. Thus far I have not hit any half-middles or middles. The game that was a killer for me this past weekend was the Detroit/St. Louis game. St.Louis coming back to score late and overcome the +6.5 points (they won by exactly 7) I had on Detroit devastated a ton of my parlay tickets and insured that I would have a losing week. If not for that game I would have had a +$4K week. Losing a game like that is just part of the monetary/psychological swings you have to endure. I have placed my initial bets on the baseball playoffs using a method I have used in the past which has brought me profits. It is relatively simple. Select a unit of wager that is equal to 1% of your total betting bankroll. In my case I will wager $500. Select the underdogs on the first day of the playoffs. If the underdog is at +101 to +149 wager one unit exactly. If the underdog is +150 to +199 wager one unit less 10%. If the underdog is +200 to +249 wager one unit less 20%. Using the above method I placed these bets on Sunday night at Pinnacle for Game 1 games scheduled for Tuesday:

$500 on St. Louis +105 (Carpenter/Peavy must start)
    $450 on Oakland +167 (Zito/Santana must start)
    $450 on Detroit +185 (Robertson/Wang must start)

For smaller bettors, if your unit is $10, you would bet $10 on St. Louis, $9 on Oakland and $9 on Detroit.

Hockey Betting - 2006-07 NHL season > I like to look for VALUE when betting hockey and I also like betting with or against certain teams under specific conditions. I also like to bet three-team parlay tickets using our provincial sports lottery odds (www.olgc.ca ; then click proline link) when I find value compared to the Vegas / online sportsbook line. When betting hockey try to avoid betting against teams with superior number one goaltenders (ie. Miikka Kiprusoff (Calgary), Martin Brodeur (New Jersey). Conversely, bet against quality/average teams that have sub-par number one goaltenders (ie. Andrew Raycroft (Toronto). Another situation to look for is betting with a team that has had 2 or more days of rest, does not have a game scheduled for the next day and is playing against a team that has played the night before. I also like to scan the betting lines the night before a game when the lines are first set. After a while you can look at a line and instinctively know that the line is off compared to how you handicap that game. What I then do is make a sizable bet on the team where I perceive VALUE to be had. I then will take a look at the line the next day at a number of online sportsbooks and if the opportunity to bet both sides of that game (while guaranteeing a small profit) is present I will do so. Here are my initial betting (money line) situations that I will look for as we head into the season:

Bet on these teams when on the road when they are the underdog: Edmonton, Buffalo, New Jersey, Phoenix.

Bet against these teams when at home and they are the favorite:
    Colorado, Toronto.

Bet with this team when at home and they are the underdog:
    Columbus.

When betting on/against these teams under the conditions described above start at 1 unit. My unit bet will be $500. If the team you are betting on is at +101 to +149 wager one unit. If the team you are betting on is at +150 to +199 bet one unit less 10% (in my case $450). If the team you are betting on is at +200 to +249 bet one unit less 20% (in my case $400). If the team you are betting on is at +250 to +299 bet one unit less 30% (in my case $350). As the season progresses you make adjustments to the size of the bet depending on whether you are winning or losing money. I will go over these adjustments once the season starts and the system has been put into place. I will post my first hockey bets on Wed. morning.

I had a small profit of $826.50 on the first day of the MLB playoffs and have just made these bets today at Pinnacle:

    $500 on Oakland +137 (Loaiza/Bonser must start)
    $500 on L.A. Dodgers +114 (Lowe/Hernandez must start)
    $400 on Detroit +212 (Verlander/Mussina must start)

I also made these hockey bets late last night (for Wed. games) at Pinnacle:

$500 on Buffalo +129 (I will always take Buffalo on road when they are the underdog)
$580 on Ottawa -145 (I like the value of this price against a mediocre Toronto team)
$500 on Dallas +108 (I will always bet against Colorado when they are the favorite at home)

I have also noticed that the juice you have to overcome while betting the Yankees increases substantially compared to when Pinnacle first posted the line yesterday. As soon as they issue a line for game three in that series I will be putting a big bet on the Yankees with the intention of making a offsetting bet on the Tigers the next day a change in lines dictates it.

My initial LAD/NYM bet won't go off as Hernandez won't be starting so I have made a new bet to replace it:

$500 on LA Dodgers +117 (Lowe/Maine must start)

Cmon Ravageur; you know the Leafs are average at best. Raycroft will give up a lot of soft goals this year, just watch. Check out this sweet action. The odds just came out on Pinnacle for the Thursday NHL games and there is some great value on proline (www.olgc.ca) when I compare the odds to online sportsbooks. Thus I have just made these bets:

$5000 (50x $100 bets) on a three team parlay. Teams and odds are:
Detroit (NHL) to win on Thursday (1.70), NY Giants (NFL) to win by 4 or more on Sunday (1.90), Denver (NFL) to win by 4 or more on Monday (2.00). Payoff if this comes in is: $32,300.

I have made an offsetting bet on the first game. That bet was made at Pinnacle and it is:

$3200 on Vancouver (NHL) to win game on Thursday +170 (includes OT and shootout if needed). Payoff if this comes in is: $5440. This would cover my parlay bet and give me a profit of $440.
  21. #21
I had a profit of $1770.00 on my Wednesday bets. Continuing my strategy of betting on the underdogs in MLB here are my bets on today's games. Bets were made at Pinnacle:

    $400 on Detroit +211 (Verlander/Mussina must start)
$500 on St. Louis +135 (Weaver/Wells must start)
$500 on LA Dodgers +142 (Kuo/Glavine must start)

Some small hockey bets for today which were made at Pinnacle:

    $100 on Atlanta -1.5 +202
    $200 on Ottawa -1.5 +111

With the value being so good on that three team parlay bet I made yesterday, I have decided to double it and here it is:

$5000 (50x $100 bets) on a three team parlay. Teams and odds are:
Detroit (NHL) to win on Thursday (1.70), NY Giants (NFL) to win by 4 or more on Sunday (1.90), Denver (NFL) to win by 4 or more on Monday (2.00). Payoff if this comes in is: $32,300.

I have made an offsetting bet on the first game. This time the bet was made at Bowmans and it is:

$3200 on Vancouver (NHL) to win game on Thursday +170 (includes OT and shootout if needed). Payoff if this comes in is: $5440. This would cover my parlay bet and give me a profit of $440.

I am also making a smaller three team parlay bet for $1000 combining the same two football games detailed above along with Minnesota (NHL) to win tonight (1.70). Countering that bet I have made this bet at Pinnacle:

    $670 on Colorado +153
  22. #22
could you keep a running tally of how much you're up or down during this blog too? Thanks
  23. #23
Midas, I will put in a running tally when I can. I won't today because I still have a parlay bet that is still active. Here's the latest update: I had a profit of $907.00 on my Thursday bets. Over and above this I have a three game parlay ticket that remains LIVE. I will make an offsetting bet on the second game on that ticket and must cover the $1000 spent on the parlay ticket plus the $670 lost (this -$670 already accounted for in the +$907 Thursday listed at start of this daily report) on Colorado (NHL) yesterday. The bet was made at Pinnacle and is:

    $1500 on Washington (NFL) +3.5 +114

Continuing my strategy of betting on the underdogs in MLB here are my bets on today's games. Bets were made at Pinnacle:

    $500 on Minnesota +136 (Radke/Haren must start)
    $500 on Detroit +147 (Johnson/Rogers must start)

I will be taking a closer look at the proline odds (www.olgc.ca) and making some additional bets later today which will be posted here.
  24. #24
I see some great value on three proline lines so I have just made this parlay bet:

50 x $100 tickets ($5K) on Florida (NHL) to WIN tonight (2.20) with Tampa Bay (NHL) to WIN Sat. night (1.90) with Denver (NFL) -3.5 on Monday night (2.00). These tickets will pay $41,800 if this three team parlay comes in. Countering this bet I am bettin on Boston (NHL) tonight. Bet was made at Pinnacle and it is:

$5100 on Boston (NHL) +103 (pays $5253 if it comes in, covering my $5K in parlay wagers)

One other hockey bet I have made:

$250 on New Jersey +121 (l will always bet on New Jersey when they are an underdog on the road; I reduced this bet to half a unit because they are not getting as much juice as I thought they should be against Carolina)
I will be placing my proline NFL parlay wagers sometime on Saturday.
  25. #25
    Additional bets just made:

$2000 on three-team proline parlay > Fla. (NHL) to WIN tonight (2.20), Phx. (NHL) to WIN Sat. (2.20), Den. (NFL) -3.5 Monday (2.00)
$2000 on three-team proline parlay > Fla. (NHL) to WIN tonight (2.20), Min. (NHL) to WIN Sat. (1.90), Den. (NFL) -3.5 Monday (2.00)

Countering the above bets is this bet I made at Pinnacle:

    $4200 on Boston (NHL) +103

Why do you counter your bets so often? All you're doing is multiplying the juice that's charged you by the books.

Not true. I am just guaranteeing myself a profit. Take the big bets I have going today which includes the $5K 3-team parlay. The multiplier on the first game is 2.2. $5K x 2.2 is $11K. That essentially means that if Florida wins tonight I will be up $6K on that parlay bet. Subtracting the $5100 straight bet on Boston in that same game means I am already up $900 heading into the 2nd game of the parlay ticket. I then would do an offsetting bet on the 2nd game on the that parlay ticket. If Boston wins tonight my straight bet cashes for $5253. I then would subtract the $5K parlay ticket which leaves me with a profit of $253. I only make these big offsetting bets on the same game in cases where I am getting +EV on both sides of the bet. In the above case I am getting Florida at +120 and Boston at +103. It is a "can't lose any money" situation. With these bets I am getting juice not giving it.

Yeah, but if that was your plan all along, why don't you just bet the line straight before it moves?

Parlays add EXTRA juice onto your normal selections already; you are NOT getting better odds on these. And even if a book paid you 'straight' (they don't tack on extra juice once you reach a certain number of teams in a parlay), then you wouldn't be any better off doing the parlay than when you just bet that one line straight.

Which line moved? The parlay bet I made didn't have EXTRA juice on it. I had +EV on it. I repeat: on the Boston/Florida hockey game I had Boston +103 (Pinnacle) on my straight bet and Florida +120 (proline) on my parlay bet. At online sportsbooks Florida at best was -113. The next team I have on my big parlay ticket is Tampa Bay (NHL) at 1.90 (equivalent to -110). That compares to lines on online sportsbooks of Tampa Bay -150. I'll be making a big bet on Boston in tomorrow's game with Boston (currently at about +140) to cover my parlay wager + the money I lost on Boston in the Friday game. When all is said and done I will have a sweet profit because I am getting +EV all along. Do you follow?

Just tell me you saw the Leafs in Ottawa a couple nights ago

Raycroft did not look soft at all, and my boy Wellewood is stepping it up.

But yeah, i'm dillusional and they are an average team. But admit that it's fun to bet on a team that you actually WANT to win, but that's why when I bet on sports i'm Gambling and when you do you're making money.

I stick to poker for that. ALways interesting reading your posts, even if it's a bit confusing for me to understand all the lines and EV of it all etc.
Reminds me a lot of hedging in the financial sector. Cool stuff.

Ok. My mistake; I assumed that the line moved in order to make it +money on one side and + money on the other. But if it's true that Pinnacle had +103 and proline had +120, why bother parlaying them? Just bet Bostom +103 and Florida +120. No need to get parlays mixed in there.

To answer your question ensign_lee with proline you can't just bet on one game. You have to bet a minimum of three games on a parlay. It is not always easy to find three games with +EV on the odds sheets they offer but this recent sheet had them. Anyways ...

Here are my bets for Sat. night hockey games. The first three are betting on the other side of the second teams on my three big parlay wagers that remain LIVE. The bets were made at Pinnacle and are:

    $7800 on Boston (NHL) +145
    $3700 on Nashville (NHL) +115
    $4664 on Anaheim (NHL) -106
$200 on Buffalo (NHL) +175 (I will always bet on Buffalo when they are road dog though I have reduced this to 2/5 of one unit because they played the night before)
$126 on Toronto (NHL) -126 (Normally I would bet on Montreal as I usually bet against Toronto at home when they are a favorite but this is a nice price to get them at when you consider Montreal played the night before. Only betting this because I'll be watching this game)
$500 on New Jersey (NHL) +114 (I will always bet on New Jersey when they are an underdog on the road)

That was a nice goal to win it Rav. Here is my bet for today:

It was made on a proline ticket and it is:

    $1000 on Green Bay +3.5, Buffalo +12.5, Dallas +3, Denver -3.

The above pays 10-1. Note that on Pinnacle to get these teams at these point spreads or close to them the odds are:
    Green Bay +3.5 -165, Buffalo +11 -143, Dallas +2.5 -125, Denver -3 -152.

If Green Bay and Buffalo cover in the first two games I will do an offsetting bet on the third game. Later.

I have two three team parlay tickets that remain LIVE. Both tickets only need the last team to come through. That team is Denver (NFL) -3.5 on Monday night NFL.

The combined payoff on those parlay tickets if Denver covers would be $23,180. My total layout on the parlay tickets + offsetting bets on games one and two on each of those tickets is just $10,970. The nice thing is the line on Denver at the sportsbooks has gone up to -5.5. I will give back a point and a half to get some extra juice and have just made this bet at Pinnacle:

    $11,000 on Baltimore (NFL) +4 +115 (pays $12,650)

Thus I am in a no lose situation on this sequence of bets. Here is the scenario for the game as far I am concerned:

If Baltimore wins the game or loses by 3 or less: my bet of $11K on them pays $12,650 less cost of previous bets which is $10970. This leaves me with a profit of $1,650.

If Denver wins the game by 5 or more: my parlay ticket cashes for $23,180 less cost of previous bets including the $11K bet on Baltimore is $21,970. This leaves me with a profit of $1,210.

If Denver wins by exactly 4: my parlay ticket cashes for $23,180 less cost of previous bets which is $10,970. In this case I exclude the $11K bet on Balt. because that bet would push and my money would be refunded. Thus I would be left with a profit of $12,210.

Needless to say I'll be cheering for Denver to win by 4. A full money update will be submitted on Tuesday morning.

Here are the bets I just made at Pinnacle for Monday night's hockey as well as one parlay bet made using the proline odds:

$500 on Florida (NHL) (2.50) to WIN Monday night with Denver (NFL) -3.5 (2.00) Monday night with Minnesota (NHL) (1.75) to WIN Tuesday night.
$500 on Phoenix (NHL) +106 to WIN
$500 on Atlanta (NHL) +120 to WIN
    $500 on Anaheim (NHL) -1.5 +120

I think you have to live in Canada to get the proline parlay tickets he uses. Yet another reason to move there...

I'll do that sometime later this week once a real life example comes up using the strategy I employ. Zook is right that you need to live in Ontario, Canada to utilize the proline (www.olgc.ca) parlay tickets as a key element in that strategy. In the meantime ...

Here is the latest money update. From Sept. 1 through bets made until Oct. 4 I was down a total of $11,225. The update below shows the end result for bets made on the day listed even if some of the bets may have lingered to days ahead because they were parlay bets or straight bets I made day(s) earlier than the date of the game(s). Here are the numbers for individual days:

    Oct. 5 > - $4,540 on parlay bets, + $10,880 on bet(s) on Vancouver (NHL), + $1054 on three baseball bets, - $970 on other hockey bets; TOTAL for day + $6,424.
Oct. 6 > + $5,720 on parlay bets, - $1500 on Wash. (NFL), +235 on two baseball bets; - $8,997.50 on hockey bets; TOTAL for day - $4,542.50.
    Oct. 7 > + $11,734 on hockey bets; TOTAL for day + $11,734.
Oct. 8 > - $1,000 on NFL parlay bet, - $11,000 on one NFL bet (on Monday's game); TOTAL for day - $11,000.
    Oct. 9 > + $200 on four hockey bets; TOTAL for day + $200.

    NEW +/- TOTAL SINCE SEPT. 1 = - $9,409.50.
  43. #43
Note that the Oct. 8 TOTAL for day should be - $12,000. The overall =/- already takes this corrected total into account.

Here are my hockey bets for Wed. Oct. 11. Bets were made at Pinnacle:

    $200 on Atlanta -1.5 +183
$246 on Philadelphia -123 (to WIN game)
$400 on Phoenix +202 (to WIN game)

Also one three-team parlay bet on proline: $50 > Bosnia to WIN in soccer (3.20), Latvia to WIN in soccer (3.20), Anaheim (NHL) to WIN (1.40).
  45. #45
    Here are today's bets:

    $250 on New Jersey (NHL) -1.5 +166

I have made 10 $100 three-team (NHL) parlay bets on proline. The teams and odds I am getting on proline are: NY Rangers (1.55), St. Louis (1.95), Minnesota (1.50), Nashville (1.85), Dallas (1.90). I will do all three-team parlay combinations using the above five teams. There are 10 combinations. I am getting slight +EV value on these teams as the current odds at Pinnacle for the above teams are: NY Rangers -212 (equivalent to about 1.48), St. Louis -109 (equivalent to about 1.91), Minnesota -210 (equivalent to about 1.48), Nashville -126 (equivalent to about 1.80), Dallas -112 (equivalent to about 1.89).

I'll do a $ update in the morning taking the last two days of betting into account.
  46. #46
After seeing the early lines on Friday's NHL hockey I have decided to make these additional bets which were made at Pinnacle:

$2000 on Buffalo (NHL) +153 (this looks to have great value; I overbet here as I will monitor this line thinking that I can eventually make a full or partial offsetting bet on Detroit if the line changes)

$1000 on a three-team NHL parlay on proline; teams and odds are: Nashville to WIN tonight (1.85) , Detroit to WIN Friday (1.70), San Jose to WIN Friday (1.95).

I will make an offsetting bet on Chicago to counteract the above parlay bet. Bet was made at Pinnacle:

$840 on Chicago (NHL) +121 to WIN tonight.
  47. #47
Only one of my ten parlay tickets cashed last night (for $555.75) so I took a loss of about $450 on those bets. Had an overall loss of $677.85 last night combined with a loss of $330 on Wed. night which puts my total losses since Sept. 1 at $10,417.35. Here are my initial bets for college and NFL football. These are all parlay wagers on proline. Bets are:

$1000 on Wake Forest +4.5, South Florida -2.5, Virgina +5.5, Penn St. +7.5. This pays 10-1. Odds on these teams at or near these point spreads on Pinnacle are: Wake Forest +4.5 -138, South Florida -2.5 -141, Virgina +4.5 -131, Penn State +6.5 -121. I will wait to see what happens in the first two games. If they hit I will then make an offsetting bet on Maryland in the third game.

NFL parlay bets made on proline:

    $1000 on Tampa Bay +7.5, San. Fran. +12.5, Oakland +16.5, Arizona +13.5
    $500 on Washington -9.5, San. Fran. +12.5, Oakland +16.5, Arizona +13.5
    $1000 on Detroit +3, San. Fran. +12.5, Oakland +16.5, Arizona +13.5
    $1000 on St. Louis +5.5, San. Fran. +12.5, Oakland +16.5, Arizona +13.5
    $500 on New Orleans +5.5, San. Fran. +12.5, Oakland +16.5, Arizona +13.5
    $500 on Carolina +3.5, San. Fran. +12.5, Oakland +16.5, Arizona +13.5

For the above bets I will wait to see what happens in the first games and then make offsetting bets on subsequent games.

I will also be making some NHL bets but will wait until the early lines come out for Sat. games.
  48. #48
I have made these additional bets at Pinnacle on Friday's NHL action:

$2220 on Detroit -148 to WIN game (This partially offsets the money line bet I made yesterday on Buffalo at +153; I had planned on betting only $500 on Buffalo but overbet as I saw value in the line at +153; I was right as the line on Detroit has dropped to -148)

$6000 on Tampa Bay +114 to WIN game (I will be doing an offsetting proline bet off this game as I can get Florida at a multiple of 1.95 (equivalent to about -106). Just wanted to lock in Tampa Bay at this price. Will detail the proline bet later today once I decide which teams have best +EV for tomorrow on the proline sheet.
  49. #49
Offsetting the large bet I made on Tampa Bay earlier today I made 67 $100 three-team parlay bets on proline. The teams and odds on those tickets are:

$6700 on Florida (NHL) to WIN tonight (1.95), South Florida (NCAAF) -3.5 (2.10) Sat. aft., St. Louis (NHL) to WIN Sat. night (1.90).
  50. #50
I made a bet last night at Bowmans:

    $14,300 on N.Carolina +3.5 -110

The first two NCAA football teams on my four-team parlay bet have come through for me so I have made an offsetting bet on the third game. I have Virginia +5.5 on the parlay ticket and will make an offsetting bet on Maryland. Bet was made at Pinnacle:

$2400 on Maryland -4.5 +116 (note all the extra juice I am getting and note that I have a chance at a middle on this game if Maryland wins by exactly 5; this bet would pay off and my parlay wager would continue)

My huge three-team parlay bet that combined two hockey games with one NCAA football game is also LIVE. I have to make a huge offsetting bet on Chicago. Bet was made at Pinnacle:

$25,500 on Chicago (NHL) to WIN +106

I also made these other bets on NHL hockey at Pinnacle:

$244 on Ottawa to WIN -122
$100 on Washington to WIN +105
$208 on Pittsburgh to WIN -104
$200 on Columbus to WIN +170
$450 on Phoenix to WIN +160
$500 on Edmonton to WIN +101

Yes of course it was an offsetting bet.

Here's my late bet for today and the scenario surrounding it:

Virgina lost by only two so my four-team parlay bet remains LIVE as it moves to the fourth and final game. Recall that this parlay bet cost me $1000 and I also lost the $2400 bet on Maryland -4.5. Thus I have to cover those amounts and give myself a nice profit no matter what happens in the last game. The parlay ticket pays $10K if it hits. I have just made this bet at Pinnacle:

    $5000 on Michigan (NCAAF) -6 +104

Here's the situation on this game as far as I am concerned:

    1) If Michigan wins by 8 or more: The above bet cashes for $5200 less earlier bets of $3400 leaves me with a profit of $1,800.
    2) If Michigan wins by 7: The above bet cashes for $5200 AND my parlay ticket cashes for $10,000 less earlier bets of $3400 leaves me with a profit of $11,800.
    3) If Michigan wins by 6: The above bet pushes, my parlay ticket cashes for $10,000 less earlier bets of $3400 leaves me with a profit of $6,600.
    4) If Michigan wins by 5 or less or Penn State wins: My parlay ticket cashes for $10,000 less earlier bets of $8400 leaves me with a profit of $1,600.

I am in a can't lose situation and potentially a big payoff if I can hit the middle or half-middle. I am just going to sit back and have a couple of beers and enjoy this game. Update in the morning.
  56. #56
Huge day for me yesterday with me hitting the middle. Here are the results for bets resolved over the last two days:

    1) Bet on Buffalo (NHL) on Friday: +$3060 less $2220 parlay bet tied to Detroit. OVERALL: +$840.
    2) Bet on Tampa Bay (NHL) on Friday: -$6000, bet on N.Carolina -$14,300, bet on Chicago -25,500, three team parlay bet tied to opposite teams above +$45,429.35, bonus $ received from Bowmans for $5K deposit that allowed me to make bet on N.Carolina +$500. OVERALL: +$129.35.
    3) Six smaller bets on Sat. NHL hockey: OVERALL: -$253.00
    4) Bet on Maryland: -$2400, Bet on Michigan +$5200, parlay bet tied to these games +$9000. Note that I hit a middle in this sequence of bets; see earlier posts for full details. OVERALL: +$11,800.

Profit over the last two days: +$12,516.35. This offsets the loss I had sustained since Sept. 1 of $10,417.35. Thus I am finally in profit mode! Current status: + $2,099.00 since Sept. 1. I have several parlay bets tied to today's NFL action. See an earlier post for full details.

Yeah it was definately sweet! I have a chance for another one though it is not on a key number so less likely to hit. Details below.

I made one bet on the 4:15 start time NFL games that is an offsetting bet to the several four-team parlay bets I made yesterday on NFL games. The bet was made at Pinnacle:

    $4100 on San Diego -11.5 +116

I have another chance to hit a middle on this game. If San Diego wins by 12 the above bet wins and all remaining parlay bets continue as I have San Fran. at +12.5 on those tickets.
  59. #59
My bet on San Diego cashed for $4756 less the parlay bets of $4500 for a profit of $256 yesterday. That brings my profits since Sept. 1 to:

    + $2355.00
  60. #60
I have made two bets today:

$450 on Chicago (NHL) to WIN +151 (bet was made at Pinnacle)
$50 on three-item parlay bet (all go off tonight): Nashville (NHL) to WIN (1.90), Paul Kariya to outpoint Alexei Yashin (2.80), Ryan Smyth to outpoint Markus Naslund (2.80) (bet was made with proline ticket; www.olgc.ca)

NOTE: For "hockey scoring" at proline, participants receive 2 points for a goal and 1 point for an assist, including extra play (OT) but excluding shootouts.
  61. #61
Had a profit of $629.50 on last night's bets so my total since Sept. 1 is + $2,984.50.

Here are today's bets (made at Pinnacle):
$300 on Calgary (NHL) to WIN +105
$400 on Phoenix (NHL) to WIN +110
  62. #62
Early lines for Wed.'s NHL action have been posted at Pinnacle and I will make a big bet on Chicago as the odds look to have value at the current price. They will be playing Montreal who play tonight then have to fly overnight so they will be a tired club on Wed. The bet was made at Pinnacle:

$1100 on Chicago (NHL) to WIN -110 (Wed. Oct. 18 game)

In addition I am making 10 $40 3-item parlay bets. These five games/players are:
Daniel Briere to outscore Peter Forsberg tonight (3.00), Alex Kovalev to outscore Jarome Iginla tonight (2.80), Ryan Smyth to outscore Markus Naslund tonight (2.80), Edmonton (NHL) to WIN tonight (1.75), Anaheim (NHL) to WIN on Wed. (1.90). Note that Edmonton is currently -150 (equivalent to about 1.67) and Anaheim is currently -133 (equivalent to about 1.75) at Pinnacle so I am getting +EV on these games on the proline sheet. I'll do a small offsetting bet on Vancouver tonight:

$100 on Vancouver (NHL) to WIN +140
  63. #63
I had a small profit of $40 on my straight bets on NHL hockey last night. Over and above that, of my 10 3-item parlay bets that cost me a total of $400, six tickets lost as of yesterday, one ticket was a winner and I have already cashed it and it paid $588. The remaining three tickets are all LIVE and all are attached to Anaheim (NHL) winning tonight. If Anaheim wins, those tickets will cash for $1,409.80. To offset this I will make a bet on Detroit so that I lock in a profit of about $700 no matter who wins the game. Bet was just made at Pinnacle:

$640 on Detroit (NHL) to WIN +119

I have made two other bets at Pinnacle:

$200 on Nashville (NHL) to WIN +114
$250 on Colorado (NHL) to WIN +127

I also made a large bet yesterday on Chicago (NHL) to win tonight. All bets will be resolved tonight so I will wait to do a money update until the morning.
  64. #64
Great results for me last night. I won $905.50 on straight bets and cashed three additional parlay tickets for another $1,409.80. Combining those profits with the profits from Tuesday night I have won $2,543.80 over the last two days. That brings my profit since Sept. 1 to:

    + $ 5,527.80

Here are the bets I just made at Pinnacle and reasoning behind these bets:

$300 on Boston to WIN +115 (Boston has had 4 days rest; Calgary at end of tough road trip)
$300 on Atlanta -1.5 +134 (Atlanta has had 4 days rest; Wsh. played last night and had to travel)
$300 on Ottawa -1.5 +134 (Ottawa has had 4 days rest; Col. played last night and had to travel)
$278 on NY Islanders to WIN -139 (Isles are rested; Pit. played last night and had to travel)
$300 on Tampa Bay -1.5 +220 (T.Bay are rested; Philly lost badly in last game)
$300 on San Jose -1.5 +182 (Detroit is playing 3rd game in 4 nights)
    $300 on Phoenix -1.5 +195 (L.A. is playing 3rd game in 4 nights)
  65. #65
The odds for Friday's NHL games came out at Pinnacle and there is great value as compared to odds in one game in particular on proline (Columbus at 2.20; equivalent to +120; re: Friday's game; currently they are -115 at Pinnacle) so I have made these bets. I have attached that game to the best odds I could find on proline. First bet is a three-team parlay made with the proline odds:

$5000 on Ottawa (NHL) to WIN tonight (1.60), Columbus (NHL) to WIN Friday (2.20), NY Jets (NFL) -3.5 (1.90)

Offsetting the above bet is this bet I made at Pinnacle:

$2800 on Colorado (NHL) to WIN tonight +187
  66. #66
My large bet on Colorado cashed for $5236 less the offsetting bet of $5K for a small profit of $236. In addition I went 3-4 on my other hockey bets but because I had + juice on all but one of those games I had another $373 in profits. Adding it up I won $609 on the day which brings my profits since Sept. 1 to:

    + $ 6136.80

I have already placed my proline bets today as well as the offsetting bets via the online sportsbooks. Here they are:

$6000 on Toronto (NHL) to WIN +120 (Bet was made at Pinnacle)
$3000 on Philadelphia (NHL) to WIN +138 (Bet was made at Pinnacle)

Offsetting the above bets are these 3-team parlay bets made using proline tickets:

$3000 on Columbus (NHL) to WIN tonight (2.20), S. Carolina (NCAAF) -3.5 on Sat. aft. (1.90), Phoenix (NHL) to WIN Sat. night (2.50)
$3000 on Columbus (NHL) to WIN tonight (2.20), Oregon (NCAAF) -3.5 on Sat. aft. (1.90), Phoenix (NHL) to WIN Sat. night (2.50)
$1900 on Florida (NHL) to WIN tonight (1.90), S. Carolina (NCAAF) -3.5 on Sat. aft. (1.90), Phoenix (NHL) to WIN Sat. night (2.50)
$1900 on Florida (NHL) to WIN tonight (1.90), Oregon (NCAAF) -3.5 on Sat. aft. (1.90), Phoenix (NHL) to WIN Sat. night (2.50)

One other small bet on hockey:

$200 on Carolina (NHL) to WIN +170

I will be posting my college football and NFL parlay bets utilizing the proline pointspreads later today.

My bet on Toronto cashed for $7200 less the $6000 offsetting parlay bets results in a $1200 profit in that sequence of bets. I lost $200 on the Carolina/Buffalo game and so my total profit for last night was +$1000. For the betting sequence (re: Phil./Flor. hockey game and offsetting parlay bets attached to Flor.) that is unresolved at this time I have to make two additional offsetting bets. They were made at Pinnacle:

    $3816 on Vanderbilt +3.5 -106 (to win $3600)
    $3960 on Washington St. +3.5 -110 (to win $3600)

I also made these bets on for Saturday's NHL hockey action. Bets were made at Pinnacle:

    $200 on Colorado +128
    $200 on New Jersey +128
    $232 on NY Rangers -116
    $200 on Phoenix +122

I won't be making any parlay bets on U.S. college football as I did not see enough value on the proline list.

I made 10 3-item bets using proline odds combining the following five teams/players:

Lecavalier to outscore Ovechkin (2.80), Elias to outscore Spezza (2.80), NY Rangers to WIN (1.95), Nashville to WIN (1.70), Phoenix to WIN (2.50). Each bet was for $40 for a total of $400.

I also made $1000 worth of NFL parlay bets combining the following teams and their pointspreads:

    K.C. +7.5, Atlanta +3.5, Oakland +4.5, NY Giants +3.5

If the first two come in I will do an offsetting bet on the third game.

Once the 2nd NCAA football game that I bet on is over I may need to make an offsetting bet on Dallas in hockey.

Last night i made a bet on Dallas (NHL) to cover my parlay bet that moved on to the third game. That bet was made at Pinnacle and was:

$10,575 on Dallas (NHL) to WIN -141 (this cashed for $7500)

This afternoon I was in a uncomfortable position as the Pit./Atl. NFL game had gone to OT and my parlay bet for $1000 was tied to Atlanta +3.5. I decided to make an offsetting bet on the third game on my parlay ticket hoping that even if Pittsburgh won that game in OT it was more likely they would score a field goal. I made this bet at Pinnacle:

    $2000 on Arizona (NFL) -3 +107

The above bet was a loser but it means that my parlay bet moves on to the fourth and final game. I have invested $3000 thus far in this sequence of bettting and the payoff on that ticket is $10K so I have just made this offsetting bet on the Monday night NFL game. Bet was made at Pinnacle:

    $4800 on Dallas (NFL) -3.5 +106

Thus, either way I will have a nice profit on this sequence of bets. I will do a full money update on Tuesday morning for bets made since Friday.

Additional bets for Monday made at Pinnacle:

$400 on Columbus (NHL) to WIN +150
$504 on Buffalo (NHL) to WIN -126
$300 on Phoenix (NHL) to WIN +192

I have also made these 3-item parlay bets at proline:

10 x $40 bets with all bets having L.A. (NHL) to WIN on them (2.90). That game will be combined with all combinations of two other odds which are: Thornton/Nash to TIE in scoring on Mon. (3.20), Briere/Kovalev to TIE in scoring on Mon. (3.20), Frolov/Sakic to TIE in scoring on Mon. (3.40), Spezza/Sundin to TIE in scoring on Tue. (3.20), Doan/Iginla to TIE in scoring on Tue. (3.20).

You are a machine. I'm worried about the Leafs tmr night though...Ottawa looked mean this weekend. But you should still bet on the Leafs for a lot of money for moral purposes.

I'll be betting on Ottawa. Just want to wait and see what the odds are going to be on the online sportsbooks. The odds are 1.95 on proline for Ottawa so I might go that route if I can find other games to attach it to. By the way I am not a Leafs fan. I have been a Canadiens fan since the age of six.

Wanted to put in a $ update as all parlay bets have now been resolved. Going back to Friday: My bet on Toronto cashed for $7200 less the $6000 in parlay tickets tied to that game. I lost $200 on a hockey bet Friday night. My other parlay bets that were tied to Florida continued to the next day but would both eventually lose for a loss of $3800. Offsetting bets tied to those parlay bets and the resulting +/-: Friday: Philadelphia (NHL) -$3000; Sat.: Vanderbilt (NCAAF) -$3816, Wash. St. (NCAAF) +$3600, Dallas (NHL) +$7500. Bottom line on that sequence of bets was +$484. Other bets on Sat. night: -$400 in total on my straight hockey bets and -$400 on my hockey parlay bets. The 4-team parlay bet I made on Sunday's NFL action was a winner and paid $10,000 less the following: $1000 for the cost of the parlay ticket and two offsetting bets totalling $6800 through Monday. Total profit on that sequence of bets: +$2200. Monday's hockey bets: -$300 on straight hockey bets and -$400 on hockey parlay bets.

    Total since Friday: + $2,184.

That puts my total +/- since Sept. 1 at:

    + $ 8,320.80

Two bets I made at Pinnacle on Tuesday's NHL action:

    $200 on Ottawa -1.5 +210
$150 on Phoenix to WIN +240

A small profit of $270 on last night's bets. Here are the bets I made at Pinnacle on tonight's NHL action:

    $150 on Atl./Car. OVER 6.5 +105
$300 on Chicago to WIN +154
$200 on Washington to WIN +170
$200 on Edmonton to WIN +134
