The concept that single men become violent is beyond me. I have been single for six years or so now, not once have I been motivated into violence in an attempt to address this issue. If I wanted a girlfriend, I know what I need to do... get a job, or at the very least get out more or sign up to dating sites. Lashing out at society is not the solution, and hating women is the worst thing I could do.
The thing is, if the law recognises the right of men to marry other men, based on the concept that an adult should not be controlled when it comes to private matters such as this, then polygamy should also be recognised as a right. Why should a man not have the right to have two wives, based purely on the potentially aggressive reaction of men who can't get laid?
If millions of men wanted access to women, and simply weren't given a chance to try because they weren't available for the attempt, that's more along the lines of when they're thought to become violent. It's just like when people don't have enough food and revolution happens, in theory.
A lot of men who want multiple women will always be able to get it in a monogamist-primary society if they want to work for it imo. Can you think of many men who are popular, in politics, an actor or sports star, etc., where you'd be surprised if he had like four or five women? Of course not. The "rules" don't apply to people who break them, and very few places in the US, for example, have legal means to go after people who practice polygamy without legal marriage (which is a relatively new concept in and of itself).
