I think that's a troll. If this was LOTR or any other popular fantasy ever written, what that guy said is how it would happen. But GoT deliberately establishes these tropes so they can subverted. That doesn't mean they go to the opposite, but that they are muddied and screwed with.
So yeah, if Jon and Dany are the heroes (they are), there are some hitches to that. It'll be something like they hate each other, one dies yet what they were supposed to do is completed by a non-hero, they were never on the "right" side in the first place, etc.
