US Players Allowed Flat Earth Thread

CNN and other fake news outlets won't show both sides of the issue.

If the Earth is spinning so damn fast, then why don't planes appear to be flying backwards when they take off?

It's like this. The government is the only group who has ever shown us a picture of the so-called Earth from outer space. We have plenty of reasons not to trust the government. There's no profit in the truth.

I think flat round earthers are a really good case study on how good the human brain is in blocking out information it does not want to see. Like when you look at the chicago skyline from lake michigan, you sometimes see some of it which you shouldn't. Of course on a flat earth, you would see all of it all the time, but... it's always more important to find as many shaky arguments as possible so that as soon as someone calls you out on one, you can jump over to the next and never be confronted with the really difficult ones. When in doubt, change the subject to Sasquatch.

False, there are actually six flat-earths arranged into a cube shape, Which face of the cube you were born on is what determines which "direction" gravity works for you. So if you move from one face of the cube to another, gravity will pull you sideways across the entire expanse and off the other side into outer space.

    Hahahahahaha.

To be fair, I was actually looking for this interview with this guy who was trying to say that time was a cube (your previous post reminded me of it). He's being interviewed, and he's super serious. He says that the four sides of a cube correlate to midnight, 6 am, noon and 6 pm. When the interviewer was confused and asked how that worked since a cube has six sides, the guy was like....

THE TOP AND BOTTOM AREN'T SIDES, DUMBASS.

I couldn't find that, but I did see that link above when I searched, so I figured it was a decent consolation prize.

    False.

The so-called curvature of the Earth isn't why you can't see out like you think you should be able to. If that was the case, then we would be able to see the whole world if we were in the world's tallest building. Our eyesight is limited in general, especially due to the humidity in the air. Over a long enough distance, it creates a visual blanket that keeps us from being able to see. It's the same thing as when it's really foggy and you can't see anything but a blank area.

I thought poker players were supposed to be smart, but I guess you're just all sheep.

Contradiction. Wouldn't you expect to see the entire world from the top of the tallest building, if the earth was flat?

Not true. What's a "long enough distance"?

The circumference (or 'diameter' if you're being a troll) of the earth is some 25,000 miles. You're saying that at some distance less than 25,000 miles...the haze becomes thick enough to obscure vision at any further distance. Yet, I can stare straight through every layer of the atmosphere and some 200,000+ miles of outer space and see the moon. Wanna guess how far away stars are???

    Only just saw this thread.

This is poor trolling by spoon's standards.

I thought one of the more interesting flat earth arguments was that apparently a planes gyroscope doesn't have to be adjusted on trans atlantic flights. Turns out that's wrong and it is constantly self adjusting and that's one of the first things you learn in any piloting 101 book, which just goes to show you how deep this round earth conspiracy runs.

One thing I find more difficult to explain to round earthers is the faucault pendulum, maybe spoon has a theory how that's working and if it's another grand conspiracy or just some run of the mill pendulum elves.

Oh yeah and time cube is one of the original memes of the internet. I'd love to see a clinical psychologist take this guy apart.

This is a pretty interesting approach to the faucault pendulum problem. You postulate that if you were to replace the string with nothing and the weight with an aeroplane, it should still behave in the exact same way as a pendulum. Therefore if we "launch" a plane it should end up hundreds of miles off the airpot we aimed it at.

It's a hologram, duh. Well, it might be a massive screen with an image on it, but it's probably a hologram. Just seems easier than making a huge screen.

Is there a good forum for flat Earth people I can check out somewhere? I know that I could just Google it, but I'd rather take recommendations from people who may have experience.

What is everyone's favorite youtube channel for flat earth? I've been looking into this for over a year now, and I'm not 100% convinced that the earth is "flat", but I am 100% convinced that the earth is not a giant sphere rotating on its axis, as well as rotating around the sun, as well as shooting 66,000 MPH through outer space. I am also 100% convinced that the earth is the center of the universe, and the sun/moon/stars rotate around the earth. A very large percentage of what all of us were taught in school is lies, and it is amazing how people just refuse to even entertain that thought.

I reading somewhere that as late as the early 20th century schools were still teaching that the earth was flat

That's over a year minus one hour too much.

I'm not 100% convinced that the earth is "flat"
    Promising...

but I am 100% convinced that the earth is not a giant sphere rotating on its axis
Technically correct, the earth is not perfectly spherical (it is oblate), so your 100% confidence is well founded. Although, personally I'm only 99.9999381% certain the earth is an oblate sphere, because I haven't actually had a look from space. Coincidentally, 99.9999381% is the same degree of confidence I have in the existence of nuclear weapons.

I am also 100% convinced that the earth is the center of the universe...
It could be, even in a finite universe, in the same sense that any point on earth can be considered the centre of the surface. I have no idea what "central" means in higher dimensions.

...and the sun/moon/stars rotate around the earth.
Woah now, for 100% certainty you're going to need proof. I'm not 100% certain that my royal flush will win me the pot, since there's a non-zero probability of me dying before the hand is completed. How can you be so sure about something that has been proven to be false? What evidence do you have to support this claim?

The moon does indeed rotate around the earth. I refer you to my 99.9999381% confidence.

The sun and the stars? You're going to need a pretty solid theory to compete with the one currently doing the rounds. I can't wait to hear it. My guess is it involves a man with a beard doing magic.

A very large percentage of what all of us were taught in school is lies, and it is amazing how people just refuse to even entertain that thought.
This is of course true. Still, just because there's people out there who prefer you to believe what they want you to believe, doesn't mean logic has to go out of the window. If someone tries to tell me that the sky is green, I'm not going to start playing chess differently.

I quite like the idea of a finite universe with rubber-type boundaries, where once you get to the edge you bounce back. Like a billiards table.

And of course the earth has to be at the centre of the billiards table otherwise we would be able to see the edges.

This flat earth stuff is really starting to add up for me.

So long as it's a four dimensional (minimum) billiards table, then we're in business. In fact, can we change it to a snooker table? I know they're the same thing, it's just noone fucking plays billiards, plus it's shit, while snooker is actually quite good.

4D snooker table universe. I like this one.
