Damn i didnt think anyone else shared my love for good old MGD. Most people enjoy flavorless beers now. The day i buy light beer will be the day i quit playing poker (never gonna happen)

As far as imports go i like corona but can only drink about 4 or 5 before it gets to me. I like a good Bass.

Fav import: Carlsberg export. Normal carlsberg is flavourless.

    Export is stronger.

    5% abv compared to 3.8? 4.0?

normal stuff comes in light green cans. export comes in darker green cans.

Draft is where you really tell the difference.

I'm a grippy bitch... but for those that know something about beer:

One of the main enemies of beer is?...

    Light. (and heat...)

For this reason beer is put into dark tinted bottles... yet Corona is put into clear bottles. Why? It is my contention that Corona is garbage.

I have long contended that putting a slice of lime into a bottle of Miller Lite will give you basically the same.

I'd be happy to hear rebuddles from the masses of Corona faithful!

BTW, if I'm going slumming, any light beer will do
For better domestic brew, Sammy A is fine.
    Import? Samual Smith's Oatmeal Stout
    Microbrew? S.O.B.

how does anyone drink INSERTNAMEHERE light and call it a beer? how does anyone call a light beer their favourite? how does anyone even drink a light beer period? I have almost turned down free light beer. i say almost because i may hate light beer, but im not stupid. plus there was no real beer anywhere to be found, so i had no choice.

Who is worse, beer or wine snobs? For a group of poker playing men, some of you sounds like little bitches.

I like alcohol. This includes beer. I prefer some more than others, but no beer gets the cold shoulder from me. Cheap beer? Sure. Light beer? Yeah, I'll take one. Free beer? Even better.

If someone has to sniff their beer to appreciate the bouquet before every sip then I rather not drink with them. I'll take the guy that wants to have a chugging contest with Natty Lite instead.

Im with dnuts here, when I buy beer I usually just pick a brand I know doesnt taste like shit. When it comes to good tasting beers I can rarely tell the difference. Let alone which one is which.

Usually I go for Lapin Kulta or Carlsberg Sort Guld
or if I want a stronger one then I buy Stockholm 7.2

In the summer I usually buy lots of cheap but good tasting beer called "blågul". I think this is also carlsberg. They're all good to me

There are a couple of brands I totally despise though, Harboe first and foremost. Scandinavians prob know what im talking about

Corona is mexican rats piss. The reason they put that stupid bit of lime in the bottle top is to keep the flys out the beer.

Now over in England it has become a trend. People love nothing better than to order a Corona on a fri or sat night stuff their bit of lime in the end and drink away like they are a connoisseur on holiday.

    Its raining for fucks sake!

Another vote for McEwans, though I like the Scottish Ale. Even better when consumed from a tap in Scotland

Run of the mill import: Dos Equis

    Decent domestic: Amber Boch

Piss-water domestic: Bud Lite, but they're all pretty lame

    Won't touch: any Coors product.
  57. #57
    Yuengling and Blue Moon.
  58. #58
    Lager: Sam Adams
    Pilsner: Stella Artois
    Bock: Shiner
    Pale Ale: Sierra Nevada
Stout: Guiness is good, but there are some better
    Wheat: Schneider Weisse

    And overall, Aventinus.

If you can find it there is a great beer hand made by the Trappist monks in Germany. Its a bit pricey though.

American Pilsners- I typically drink Bud Light, but Michelob is probably the best of the huge batch beers.
Canadian Pilsners- nothing really stands up to Molson Canadian. Labatt is piss, worse than corona.
Mexican Pilsners- Pacifico. Dos Equis is close. everything else is pretty bad.

midgrades: rolling rock, st pauli girl, heineken, honeyweiss (sp?)

  63. #63
yah, I agree that people just know its a dark irish beer and stuff, and it has a cool name, so they hop on the bandwagon. I cant say I was much different to start, however I do enjoy it none the less, it tastes good to me. I will check out this o'harras if I can find it, and beamish too. Well maybe not the second one.. considering the guy recommending it has a light beer in his avatar... whats up with that?

Really though I cant agree more about people jumping on foreign beer bandwagons. Like corona is NOT good beer. Its huff, and is over priced huff. Ill drink it, but its way overhyped. Tecate is cheaper and better IMO. People just think they are cool when they buy some corona long necks and stick a lime wedge in it.

there's a guiness bandwagon? You crazy yankees
  65. #65
yah.. for the most part americans are extremely ignorant about beer. Most prefer tasteless crap. And since lite beers/cheap beers are popular in highschool/college, cuz you can drink a lot of them/they are cheap, most people dont seem to aquire a taste for beer, since the beer they drink has no flavor. So when they drink real beer, they think it tastes gross.

oh btw, redstripe is pretty good, dont know how I forgot that. Love washing down some good jerk chicken with a bottle of red stripe.

The only exception is NA beer.
I personally like beers from Colorado, especially the Fort Collins area beers. European beers are excellent also (Belgium is beer heaven).

McEwans Scottish Ale if I can ever find it.
I'm a fan of Dead Guy Ale too.
In the summer, Victory Summer Ale is nice.

But what do I actually drink on a Friday night?
PBRs which are cool not for the taste, but because you can play a 3 hour hand of 7 card draw with a friend using the bottlecaps.
Or else Straub in returnable pounders.
Or Miller High Life because they have the best commercials.
