Well I got my knee bending probably at about 95% now which I'm real happy about. I can still feel the break in my leg though I have to put a decent amount of pressure on it before the pain comes. I see the doctor monday and I'm thinkin he will either tell me I can start trying to walk again or will be able to in the next week or 2.

My anesethia bills came a couple days ago. 948 or something for the main anesethia doctor then another 500 for the assistant. And Im thinking the assistant probably did it all with a computer so that kind of made me mad. Nothing I can do about it though. I believe I only have one bill left to receive which is the emergency room doctor. I'm not sure whats taking them so long - maybe they lost the crap or forgot about me which would be nice.

Im going to post videos in another thread too that shows exactly what I was doing and another persons crash so you can see what exactly happened instead of sort having to just guess it in your head.

Both these files are under 2 megs - the first one is 1.8 and the second is only 1.

http://portfolio.iu.edu/dschnaib/Blind360twists.wmv this one here is a perfectly good swoop and how it is supposed to come out.

http://portfolio.iu.edu/dschnaib/hook.wmv This guys second jump he does the exact same thing I did and that is exactly how I saw it crashing into the ground. He was going a little slower though because he only did a 270 into it and I did a 440. You can see though he still bounced quite a long way. This guy broke his femur - a few ribs - and his foot and his ankle.

between 20k-21k assumming the emergency room doctor isnt like over 500 or so. I really hope it isnt and I dont think it should be because he hardly did anything at all and really just talked to my parents on the phone and explained to me what they were going to do and ordered some xrays.

Im actually about as happy as one can be with that. I thought it was going to be closer to 30. The surgeon ended up only charging 2500 and actually accepted 2000. Thats part of the reason I was upset about the anesthesia bill because the surgeon fixes me up top knotch for 2000 then they charge me almost 1500 just for knocking me out.

Secondly, I have to say what an awesome community this site is. I am just starting out in poker and am not well off enough to make a donation yet, but as soon as I turn profitable some money will be on it's way to you. To see that you've received around $3000 is touching, and I don't even know you or anyone else on this board.

Anyway, just wanted to drop a message on here so you know I'm thinking about you aswell - it won't help you financially but it's all I can offer right now!

    Take care...
Yeah man very touching. Its up to about 3320 I believe now. So it looks like FTR is covering about 15% of my bills so far. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside lol. I love all u guys dont u forget

The anesthesia is worth more than the surgery. You can have the anesthesia without the surgery, but I don't recommend the surgery without the anesthesia.

Well yeah but im thinkin of the knowledge and training it requires to do it. Im almost positive computers figure out all the anesthesia crap - they just have to stand there and watch - and the surgeon had to chop my leg open - drill it - screw it - hammer it - seal me up again - for only 500 dollars more - just doesnt seem fairly priced

oh yeah that 1500 doesnt even include the drugs they used - i think I had to pay around 1000 somewhere for that too - though that appeared on the hospital bill itself

Anesthesia is responsible for lots of adverse reactions and fatalities. No one sues the computers for malpractice.

I do agree that healthcare is ridiculously expensive.

I used to do billing for anesthesia. They get you very, very, very good on that. Also, units were divided into 15min periods -- if you used 16min, you got charges for 2 units. Lots of anesthesiologists (at the hospital where I worked, anyhow) often just scribble a line leaving it to the peons to decide whether that carbon copy line ended at 1h15m or 1h45m.

They like to get you there. Get you but good.

Well depressing report - i saw the doctor today and the 2 xray views he took showed me something I didnt see in the other ones I saw. I more or less shattered the left side of my femur where I thought it had been a clean break and there is like a chunk probably 4 inches long completely detatched. I said "man that still looks pretty bad" and he said " yeah i agree" - it seemed clear he thought it looked worse than it should and said calcite or some crap wasnt building up much yet. So im on crutches for another 5-6 weeks and the middle of my femur looks like a clump of shit. Looks like there are about 3 bigger chunks and like half a dozen little ones trying to reattach to each other or whatever.

And for the grand finally of crap I was hoping would never happen - i have to have another surgery to take out the bottom screw so the bone can like pressurize or some crap like that - oh yeah without health insurance again. Thats going to be beautiful!!!!!!!!! He thinks he will do that a couple days after the next time I see him which is october 20th. I dont think there is really anyway to get health insurance now and get around somehow having them think this isnt a pre-existing condition and actually paying for it.

I wish I didnt sound so bad and have such a depressing post but I seem to having trouble shining a positive light on this. I was actually in a real good mood this morning thinkin I would be cleared to walk and everything would look good.

Woulda given me 70K and enough force to secure my seat at the FT as long as I didn't do anything too boneheaded. Instead I clung on scraped my way back up to 20K only to have a small stack push when I had 99 and go down to 10K when he had JJ. And then out with JK against 88. 6 fricking hours - $120 profit. I gotta go to bed. And have recurring nightmares about that damn K.

Man, I haven't been here in a long while and just heard about this. God bless and God speed man... Thoughts are with you. I'll get a donation your way as soon as I can scrape something up. Things are tight (Which is why I haven't been playing that much poker lately) but I'll try to come up with at least a little something. Best wishes bro....

Thanks Fortune - Thank God the worst is over. Talk about misery. Im doing pretty good now though. I actually took my car for a spin for the first time since the accident today. Kind of felt good to have some of my freedom back. Still can't walk though.

wow Boondock, that manourver looks insane, if you hit the ground that fast you are truly blessed to still be here. Just think not only could you have been killed you could have been left a cabbage for your family to look after financially ruining them.

I think all in all you got off cheap when you think of how bad it could have been. As long as you have a roof over your head and food to put in your mouth you are fine, there are millions of people around the world who would love to be where you are.

I'll shoot you a donation asap, what's your Empire nick ?

Yep I agree with that too!!!! Its hard to look at it like that sometimes but not nearly as much anymore that I'm starting to walk again. Man I love walking!!!!!!! Just to think how close I came to losing my mobility or my legs makes me shiver. Thinkin back in my head of looking down at my leg and seeing it all cockeyed in a pile of crap. Man I wish I could take that out of my mind.

I don't check out too many threads, so this is the first time I've heard about this. It sounds like you'd be in 10x the pain I was in when I broke my leg playing soccer, so my thoughts are definitly with you. The only thing I can recommend about the pain is to get as many T3's your hands can get on. Then use the leftovers for 'buckets' when you get better. (boxing gloves and hockey helmets).

peace bro, get the fuck better and hardcore the physio. it's the most important part of the recovery, because it'll have a huge impact on your longterm side affects.

It sounded like you were talking about his injury under the impression this injury just happened but it was actually 2 years ago. But I suppose you must have been talking about the long rehabilitation process if there is one.

To distract everyone from my own stupidity, here's my recent story of personal injury: So my girlfriends fish died and I'm chasing her around with it in that little net you scoop them with before you flush them. As I'm chasing her into the bedroom she slams the door closed behind her. My left foot is just entering the doorway at the time. The bottom of the door is exactly big-toenail height. So when the door hit, it ripped that fucker nearly right off. Ow. Such a painful thing to happen. I've broken bones and shit but this was much worse than any of it. And of course I happen to have this paranoia with my feet where I'm so squeemish about things touching/hurting them.

Of course it's not completely off, there's like 5% still atached under the skin. So I go to the clinic to get it fixed. Of course it turns out the rest has to ripped out. So the doctor freezes my toe, waits like no time and starts fooling with the nail. I told him it didn't exactly hurt a lot but I could feel what he was doing. Meaning I'm afraid when he does the deed it will hurt like a bitch. So he says "Oh," waits like 5 seconds, then proceeds to rip it out anyway. MOTHER FUCKER! More pain. Luckily though, the freezing kicked in fully a minute or two later and all pain was gone.

So I go home figuring the worst is over, I know it'll hurt for quite a few days but the bad shits done. Of course not, I run as bad in life as I do in poker. Turns out this doctor made the mistake of not using non-stick gauze. Seriously, they teach you not to do that in Level 1 first aid, how does a doctor not know?? So what happens? The next day the shit is healed to my foot! I'm told to soak it in salt water. FOUR DAYS of soaking and tugging at it and no progress, just pain and frustration. So I've said fuck it, I assume it'll come off when the foot properly heals. Probably right?

Ive had the same thing happen with my big toenail, as far as it having to come off. It hurt super bad on me too. He gave me some shot in my foot that hurt damn bad and didnt seem to numb anything. That was like 5-6 years ago and only cost me 400 though .

Yeah I didn't really mention that part, but the needle did hurt a lot. I'm not a bitch when it comes to needles either, but it really fucking hurt. I don't know if you watched when your doctor did it, but mine twisted the needle around and shit while he was doing it. Maybe that's why it hurt so much.

    Gala, one word.... OMGFUCKINGOUCH.

Since we're on the topic, one time I was swimming with some friends at a sweet swimming hole with a waterfall and everything. I jumped off and went to climb up the rocks only to feel a sharp pain in my leg. I somehow managed to get a fishhook stuck in it that was on the rocks. Now this was far more humorous then it was painful until I realized the only way to get the thing out was the rip it out of my fucking leg because of the damn barb. There is no way I was man enough to do that so I told everyone that we had to go to the hospital. They decided it would be better to stop at Hardees first though, them fuckers. And yeah like you guys said, they numbed it with a needle and I don't think I ever felt something as painful as that. The pain only lasted about 5 seconds but it hurt sooooo bad.

It was a funny site though seeing them ri[ the hook out of my leg and not feeling anything.

Well, sort of but sort of not. I looked at the original post date, noticed Aug. 5th, ignored the 2005, so assumed I was 2 weeks behind.
