Environmentalists piss me the fuck off. Not because they want to save habitats, but because, at least with regards to the issue of global climate change, they have no fucking clue what they're doing. We could have a million Earth days, yet it wouldn't detract from a single ounce of eventually burnt fossil.

The one and only realistic solution is geo-engineering. We're not going to politically reduce the profitability of fossil fuels, and we're not going to develop cheaper clean energy tech that can be globally distributed. Environmental activists should be focused almost entirely on planting trees EVERYWHERE. World wide efforts to simply grow as much forest as we can will put a sizable dent in the amount of fossil the ocean and atmosphere absorbs.

We can conserve whatever energy we want, won't make a difference. ALL fossil will eventually be used for its largest economic value for the owners, and pretty much the only thing we can do is cheaply capture and sequester that carbon into vegetation

Also, I'm not positive about the specifics, but I think that the way energy factories and power grids work, an Earth Hour sort of conservation doesn't actually conserve anything

Sorry for the buzzkill, but really, if your goal is to help the environment, you'll be doing much much more if you simply buy and maintain a few plants than you will by becoming 'green'

Speaking of which, those who own the fossils are already planning on making as much money they can off them, then with that money they'll be the ones who make all the money off renewables, then when things are so bad that we need to send mirrors into orbit or something to reflect sunlight they're the ones who own the bank on that one as well
