    Default Cellphone Suggestions?

So last night my power button and volume buttons (locked screen only) stopped working. So I'm trying to figure out what phone to get if I can't fix my current phone. I'm a droid user and don't plan on changing that.

Samsung Galaxy SIII or the Galaxy Note 2 if you're into bigger phones (warning: Note 2 may be TOO big).

The Nexus 4 doesn't support SD cards although it is a pretty good phone, specs-wise. Everybody here usually rocks a Samsung so I haven't had a chance to play with it but I can see it being real good. Here's a link to more information: Nexus – Google

The Samsung Galaxy SIII is now the best-selling smartphone in the world and with good reason. It's just amazing.

iPhones are always too small. I'm gonna be transferring my contract so I can get the Galaxy Note 2 come January. I find the screen beautiful.

Getting the Note2 before the new year, I've had nothing but blackberrys for the last 8 years and I have wanted the Note for a while now, quite a few people at work have got it now, mostly previous iPhone users surprisingly.

Depends on your carrier. If you are on Verizon get the GS3 for the great phone and LTE, if you are on Tmobile or ATT where they have pretty solid HSPA+ get the Nexus 4.

I want my phone to be capable of sending and receiving calls and texts, and the battery to last longer than 6 hours.

Well shit, I was planning on upgrading to GS3 in January. Now I gotta do some research, which sucks because I've never had a smartphone and have no clue what I'm looking for. Anybody know the difference in user friendliness between these two?

Unlocked here in UK means it can be used on any network. I assume it's the same in this context.

In the US it basically means you can use it on AT&T or T-mobile.

    BooG690 and jyms,

Let me know how the Note 2 works out for you. I might get one soon if you give it high reviews.

When my current contract runs out with Sprint in January, I plan on getting the unlocked Nexus 4 from Google and getting on Straight Talk prepaid. Which uses ATT and T-Moible networks and is $45.00 per month for unlimited talk, text, and data. * Data is throttled past 2GB from what I have read.

I'm going to get that phone too, but I'm debating between that plan and T-mobile's $30 walmart (or tmobile.com) plan. With that one you get 5GB of "4g", but only 100 minutes. I think it'll work for me because I rarely go over 100 minutes, and even paying .10/minute after that won't be enough to make a bigger plan worth it.

I would like to go with that one as well, but l use about 400 minutes a month. I am unclear as to whether that 100 minutes is all minutes, or that is your anytime minutes and you get free evening or tmobile to tmobile or anything? Any idea?

I'm pretty sure that's 100 minutes to be used anytime, with no extra off-peak, or other freebie minutes.

So I got the Nexus 4, and got on Solavei. It is $49 per month for Unlimited Talk & Text and 4GB of data 4G HSPA+ data. After 4GB it is throttled to 2G speeds but I never went over 3GB looking at my usage history on Sprint.

just get a cheap Nokia phone and that's all, it does the job and that's all you need.

Cell phones aren't about need. And who are you to decide what I need in a cell phone?

Even if I was to get a "cheap" nokia phone and sign up for one of the big 3, I am still going to pay more over the duration of the contract then going prepaid and paying $300 for my phone upfront. Plus with my smartphone I get so much more utility out of it, that the $300 is well worth the $.

Bought the Samsung Galaxy Note II today and my Ex got the Galaxy SIII and we are absolutely loving them. Of course after having a BB for the last 7 years it's easily going to be a better phone.

I want one of those phones where it's basically this badge you pin on your chest and all you have to do is tap it and say who you want to talk to and it insta connects you without even ringing. Not sure if it's Samsung or Nokia but basically they look like this: link
