If you paid close attention to the Senate debate, you might have noticed the part where Santorum said the procedure was performed "at least 20 weeks, and in many cases, 21, 22, 23, 24 weeks [into pregnancy], and in rarer cases, beyond that." He didn't clarify how many of these abortions took place past the 20th week. A full-term pregnancy is 40 weeks.


That was from an article written by william saletan back in 2003 as a response to the partial birth abortion ban. please note a few things:
1) the article claims that these procedures rarely occur past 24 weeks. 6 months.
2) there was no such thing as a 'partial birth abortion'. It was a made up term to allow politicians to ram this legislation through.
3) I did not insinuate you were a liar, I pretty well came out and said it.
4) The 'insanity' you speak of is only done in cases where there is a physical health risk to the mother. There are almost never any cases where a fetus would get that far along with any abnormalities that would preclude a viable fetus. This is due to the advances in screening/medical technology.
5) an unsuccessfully aborted 7 month old fetus would not be smothered to death. the fetus would not be pulled out as an unsuccessfully aborted fetus. It is pulled out and then aborted. It is not smothered.
6) just to be sure you know we are talking about here, here is the procedure in question.

According to the American Medical Association, this procedure has four main elements.[8] First, the cervix is dilated. Second, the fetus is positioned for a footling breech. Third, the fetus is extracted except for the head. Fourth, the brain of the fetus is evacuated so that a dead but otherwise intact fetus is delivered via the vagina.

I would imagine that after the "brain is evacuated", there isn't a lot of crying going on.

also, this: the procedure has had a low rate of usage, representing 0.17% (2,232 of 1,313,000) of all abortions in the United States in 2000.

7) most abortions occur early in the pregnancy, and are not 'murder' in any sense of the word.
8) there are respectable abortion clinics, respectable to me. I could argue that there are no respectable religions, I could also go on to spout half-truths about rare instances where religion 'done me wrong' (though, in actuality, these would not be rare and would not be half-truths), and how laws banning certain religious practices don't go far enough. The Athiest and the Grizzly Bear.

A lifelong and very outspoken athiest decided to go camping and fishing by himself at a very beautiful lake up in the local mountains. As the athiest walked towards the big blue lake and smelled the clean fresh air he thought to himself,

As the athiest baited his hook and started fishing he thought some more,

The athiest ended up falling to the ground as the bear began to swipe its sharp claws against the athiests body and face.
