Spent the entire evening yesterday playing Flatout 2. And by that I mean we spent the entire evening setting up virtual lan since there are no servers anymore and about an hour playing, but damn that game is fun. I even enjoyed setting all that shit up. Forwarding ports like it's 1999. It even looks amazing. That's a game from 2006. There are racing games out today that don't look as good as this.

Never got a chance to play morrowind, I really enjoyed entering the oblivion planes especially the last one, and I agree about the dark brotherhood quests, those were a ton of fun. Assassinations using secret passages and what not was awesome! Today I bought evil within for $29.99 (regular $69.99) and this game is a mind fuck, only played chapter 1 for now, waiting for it to get dark :P |

I'm into Torchlight 2 while listening to podcasts now. Playing a flame hammer engineer on Elite. No greater aesthetic in the game than a fully armored engineer slamming down a greathammer with the authority of a god. The game is genuinely better than D3. Not the polish, nor the population, but it's forgiving and inventive in all the right ways.

What pisses me off about the that MKX video is that there's a "fatality practice mode." Back in the good old days of the early SNES and Sega Genesis, the fatalities were mysterious. Video games had all these cool secrets that only a few of us knew. On the original Mortal Kombat there wasn't even blood by default, it had to be enabled with a cheat code. All of the moves and fatalities had to be learned by random chance or from your friend's Nintendo Power magazine, and it gave this air of mischief and mystery to the game. This is a quality of video gaming that I don't even believe is possible anymore, but the least they could do is make the fatalities a little less easy to learn.

With the internet around you can forget about that. What I really don't like is that you can buy them like cosmetics. That doesn't seem to be in the spirit of the game.

I'm 4 hours into The Last of Us "Remastered" on PS4. I finally decided to download it because all the reviews I've read/watched have been overly positive. I'm playing through it as slowly as possible (I've heard the main campaign takes 12-15 hours but it usually takes me about twice as long to finish campaigns as it does serious gamers).

I want to see an amorphous blob of a game that completely mixes the bag every time you start it up. Randomly-generated levels, randomly generated item and mob names and characteristics, randomly-generated goals. I want it to be so dynamic that not even a wikia can keep up with it, much less a strategy guide. I'm sure it's possible.

Wow, The Last of Us Remastered is a great game. I completed the game and its DLC Left Behind on "Hard" difficulty, which was quite a challenge since I'm not that great at shooting games.

I wish I had the patience for open world RPG's because this one really looks like a masterpiece, but given my track record with triple A titles I'll probably really enjoy it for a couple of hours and then get bored with it.

I'm still playing The Witcher 3... believe I'm almost finished with it (I'm on the "Final Preparations" quest. Even taking my time through the game, there are still TONS of things I've missed on this first playthrough. As I said in my post above, the game isn't perfect but it's the most in-depth RPG I've ever played due to all the detailed side quests. I read somewhere that there are 495 quests in all... and very few of them are generic in nature.

I'm hopeful for Fallout 4. Nothing to really geek out about yet, but I think its proper to keep that stuff close to the vest for now. The essentials of the game (post-apoc, vaults, dog companion, guns, deathclaws) are all there, which is nice. But if they were to spoil new weapons, new enemies, etc so soon, they wouldnt have anything left to spoil later.

I went to finish Skyrim this weekend because I thought I'd left it unfinished, then realised I actually had finished, just a bunch of side quests left. I really enjoyed it, but it didn't grab me like some people. I think I get bogged down in stuff rather than just enjoying the experience.

Hence why I haven't bought it yet. I love the idea of solid gaming like that, but other than the odd weekend when I'm home alone I can't remember the last time I put serious time into a game. Every now and then I get drawn back into an MMO, but it's always short lived. I just don't have the time to commit to that kind of stuff anymore.

Lazy is the wrong word tho. Being lazy is like, when you avoid doing something that you really should. Like not doing laundry, or sleeping in all day instead of being productive. I see no inherent value in reading that number though, so really we're just being smart and efficient in skipping it.

Witcher 3 is great, I'm still playing it. I like how open the world is and that you can go questing anywhere if want to take a break from the main plot. Second thing is how many choices you can make which have a big impact on how the game progresses. I reloaded a previous save once and took another dialogue and was surprised how different things turned out. Combat is nice as well, it's not too hard but you need to hang of maneuvering properly. And I came across one boss (elemental) that honestly made me fear I got stuck as he was so hard, basically he could kill me in one combo. 20+ tries in I finally figured out a decent way to beat it.

Why did everyone love Fallout 3 so much? I played the first one, none of the expansions or anything, and I found it awful. It had good graphics, atmosphere, and story, but pretty much everything else sucked. I found the combat to be completely boring and unchallenging, and was dismayed to see that there were only like 7-8 different types of enemies. It seemed to just be a tedium fest where you explore every location in the world to get all the skillbooks, quitting at some point along the way.

I'm digging Darkest Dungeon. It's a pretty unforgiving roguelike dungeon crawler with a heavy emphasis on gothic themes and the frailty of its heroes.
