    Jack, on the plus side, Game of Thrones is just starting its third season. You can't possibly judge 2013 at we're at least, like... five episodes in.

    Seriously though it does sound like a poor string of events, and I don't know about you but comparisons to far-away or unrelatable situations that are apparently much worse never did anything for me when I was feeling down.

    I doubt I could add much to the advice given in this thread, but I'd definitely side with wuf here and say this: you avoided marrying a woman you'd not have wanted to be with, at least as evidenced by the fact that you sought out someone else before going through with it. That your sentiments towards this new woman weren't returned is immaterial. You avoided a bad marriage; and it would have been very difficult to know if this new potential relationship would have worked out if you hadn't of stuck out your neck. The realization that she did not feel the same way is just bad variance.

    Anyway, sounds to me like you'll be alright man. Best of luck the rest of this year.
