Default Take 2: now with chips and dip

Ok, so I'm starting over. I'm probably not going to go into detail about how or why, I'm not even sure I know, but I'm determined to fix whatever it was that snapped into 10x37 pieces after my first attempts at 100nl. In here I'm just going to blog about what I'm doing about it.

Basically the last year had its up and downs. 7k bankroll, winning at poker, sunshine on the horizon. hooray! Then, sometime last fall, life tilting downswing and reactionary spew coupled with terrible bankroll management that crushed my dreams.

Between cash outs, total collapse of my 50nl game, and a severe lack of volume I am barely rolled for 50nl. So I'm just not going to play it for a while. With some help I split my roll between Full Tilt and Stars yesterday, Full Tilt sent me this ever so timely email with promises of nice bonus maneys should I return to them. So I am. For a time.

I need to increase my volume. At the same time I need to increase the amount of time i spend studying. I used to study alot, then I stopped. Probably some correlation there. I'm also going to be actively seeking feedback on hands played. So if you see a hand posted, feel free to laugh. But after you are done laughing try and throw in some critiquing. I'd appreciate it.

I'm not going to set any volume goals for now, feel like that's pointless at micro stakes because if you are playing your A game then the bankroll will grow and that is more important than any loyalty program or frequent player points or whatever. I will however be playing enough volume to clear the FTP bonus as it has to be done by April 1st. Shouldn't have any problem with that, so I'm not concerned.

I'll probably be tossing in some other random thoughts here and there, everyone else is free to do so as well.

The plan, then, is to rebuild to 40ish BIs for 50nl and move back up. I'll likely move back to stars at that point. But to be honest it just all depends on where I feel the most comfortable. I'd also like to start build a roll on two sites, so we'll see.

Here is my graph for all the hands of 25nl 6max I've played on stars and Full Tilt so far this year, mostly on Stars but the last maybe 3k are on FT:

I'm not going to post the graph of my 50nl results, but let's just say its kind of like if you put a mirror next to something and reverse it. ya, bad.

So fuck 50nl for a while. I know I can beat that stake. What I need to do now is keep my head on straight, bury 25nl this month and build a bankroll.

So that's my first challenge. No matter how much it hurts. No matter how much I cry. I'm going to play 25nl 6max the entire month of March. At least. We'll see about later, later.

I'll try not to write a book in my next post. thx for listening.

So I couldn't resist trying out a few hours of rush poker today, since I'm on FT and have heard so much about it. I think it took me an hour or so to adjust, plus was playing mixed 6max and FR tables since you can only play 4 at a time of any given game. Pretty swing swongy over 6 hours of play.

BUT, I cleared three levels of the $400 bonus FT gave me for coming back to their site (each level is 20 bucks, so almost a BI per level). It took me like 6 hours of normal 4-6 tabling my regular game to clear one level of it the other day. I won't be playing rush poker too much, but if I'm profiting (and Im pretty sure I can despite this wacko garf) I might do it for a few days to clear the bonus then resume playing on real tables for the remainder of the month. Only considering this because of just how fast the fpps come at on rush tables. Its pretty sick and the action is crazy, so at least its interesting.

lol redline. Seems like people fold a shit ton to 3 and 4bets preflop, nut camp and all in all play extremely fit or fold post flop in addition to weak/tight pre. Noticeably more so in all regards than on normal tables. Highly exploitable.

Meh, I can't figure out how to save HHs in real time like on normal tables, maybe Im a dumbass, so I'll do some digging and look for some hands to post over the weekend. Ive been critical before, but I guess I take it back now. Rush actually is pretty interesting and you may as well turn your HUD off, Pretty sure if I just 4 table one game type its very crush-able.

So tomorrow is the inaugural match for Tampa's new semi pro soccer team. I'm meeting up with the nascent supporter's club before the game for booze and club talk about what we plan to do over the season to drum up support. Then the match, then afterward probably more booze.

IOW, prolly not much poker tomorrow.

Ok, I'm staying away from rush poker tables for probably ever. Played a bunch on Sunday, lost a shit ton of money and was pretty bummed. It's going pretty well today though, up about 3 BI so far on my normal tables so just going to stick with that as previously planned.

Anyway, the inaugural match of our new D2 pro team here in Tampa , the Rowdies, was a great success. Almost 1500 in attendance for a brand new team playing a local university side is pretty good and we have two friendlies in the next two weeks vs MLS sides, so expecting even larger crowds for both of those games. The supporters club is rolling and should be a ton of fun meeting up weekly and being involved.

lolsoccer in NZ is even crazier than in the US, except we've made the world cup finals in south africa and yeah, dunno...

lol we often play friendlies vs Mexico in places like L.A. because all of the dumbass Mexicans dump massive maneys into USSF coffers lol

then we schedule qualifiers vs them in places like Columbus during the winter so they fucking freeze.

As they should, because they are Mexicans.

If you honestly think this is a dumb strategy then I'm not sure what to tell ya. Except maybe lol at getting to the world cup only because Australia chose to qualify in a real regional group?

Ya, I went there. Suck it kiwi.

Staying off of the rush tables is good.

Here is the disaster Sunday. I should have stopped playing long before I did.

Here is how I'm running the last couple of days after forgetting rush pokers.

So ya, no more of that crap. You can get coolered so many times in a blink and then my tilt issues kick in, only exasperating the problem.

Going through my HH I found way too many hands that I just flat played like a tard. Review your HHs, whether you win or lose, like all the time imo. I think I'm only down about half a BI from where I was before Sunday. Pretty suck to think about.

Some rush hands from Sunday. Sorry about all the pretty colors, not sure whats going on there.

so preseason game 2 for the Tampa Bay Rowdies was great success. We doubled the supporter group numbers from the first game and expect an even larger crowd next week. Rain all day long in the area kept away casual fans, but still a decent small crowd made it out. Things are on the up and up. The team managed a 2 all draw vs an established MLS side, which is awesome considering it was only our 2nd game ever.

We decided not to go to Megacon in Orlando today due to being fatigued from the activities last night, so we'll hit it tomorrow. Hopefully I can find something pretty to add to mah shelf. Sunday is usually a good day to go during 3 day cons because vendors often drop prices and/or are willing to wheel and deal a little more.

Just one 2 hour session today, played ok. Ran good.

Been running so so since the last graph, sort of back on track at least.

I've also cleared 3/4ths of the bonus FTP gave me, so once I'm done with that I'll probably move back to stars so I can maintain SN status for this month. Or give it a good go at least.

I should have at least 30BI for 50nl by the time I'm done with this bonus, so we'll see how long I can force myself to stay at 25nl this month.
