so i edited the posts above, way too embarrasing! went completely broke middle of may. Had to suffer two weeks or so of play money before i let myself redeposit. Guess I had to learn the hard way...
Redeposited $25 on 1st of June and i started grinding again. Couple days later i got $17.48 in rakeback. Things are going ok, but i feel like im going through puberty a second time.
Im playing it strict with my bankroll now. 11 days and not one lapse, which is pretty amazing for me!! There wont be a lapse either.

Heres my results so far (im obv looking forward to next months huge rake payout!):

    June:
    Deposit: +$25.00
    Rakeback: +$17.48
    Profit/Loss from play: +$53.28

Had a miserable day yesterday. lots of hands and a 3 to 4 BI loss. I dont really tilt but i was getting pretty frustrated and could feel myself getting that way. Decided to just quit and come back today. Plus i didnt drink loads and play $0.25/$0.50! must be something wrong....

i cannot win a hand. in fact i cannot do anything. i cannot get a hand, if by some rare miracle i do get one i either get stacked or not payed off. 1st time ever i have no clue what to do...
I think i feel vulnerable cause i have such a small bankroll.
  10. #10
Currently i am getting smashed to pieces for tons of cash. I really really really cant win anything. idk wether to keep playing my game or just nut peddle for a while. It wouldnt be so bad except im making some terrible decisions now.

1st Hand I think is ok. Fella was raising all the time from blinds
2nd Hand i was on serious tilt. Was probably not my greatest poker moment. Wasnt terrible at first tho.

hand 1: fold to the 3bet pre. but would be handy to know his stats.
wait for a stronger hand that you can then 4bet him with

hand2 : wtf are you doing posting both blinds ? can't you wait for big blind? short handed so its not long to wait.
flop: why raise it so much ??? you have TPGK and i'd be trying to play a small pot here. You're losing to 77 TT JJ 89 KJ AJ.
turn: SB still likes his hand , card has made no difference to the above hands youre losing to and also brought in fluch draws as well.
river: SB is all in ..is it a bluff unlikely , the flushs have come in , your no longer even top pair, and now stright draws may have completed as well ....What exactly do you think youre beating?. By this stage the mistakes early on are compounding and you're commited effectively instead of finding an easy fold.

i didnt even realise i posted both blinds hands 2. i was seriously super tilt by this time lol. i just raised pot and i obv wasnt thinking. Is amazing how bad i butchered this hand! A call on the flop would've saved me $0.76. A call on the turn would've saved me a ton and a fold on the river more. Thats 1 BI saved prolly. Cant really moan about running bad when donating i guess.
thx for the advice, v much appreciated.

I've come to the conclusion that im definately pushin too hard. No wonder i've been struggling. I think im trying to rush through this bit of the micros. Looking through my HHs i've been really pushing stupidly and just ending up in huge pots with either marginal hands or at best, v slightly +$EV hands.
Also of course whilst im playing marginal hands, im mostly only really getting looked up by better hands than mine.
It brings to mind a great quote by Layne Flack from Daniel Negreanus book: 'Why do the pushin' when the donkey will do the pullin?'

Had a horrible week or so. I've been playing pretty bad, but have been pretty unlucky too. Last few days i seem to be sorting things out tho, slowly improving, and things are looking slightly brighter. On a bad note im down $1.70 over the period, but could be worse i suppose.

plus i won a HUSNG for a mighty $1.80 profit.

I've recently joined a gym and have started working out and i think its having a good effect on me poker wise. Is not improving my play much obv, but my stamina has definately improved. I've already played over 1k hands more than i've ever played in a month. Im starting to relish the grind a bit. I just gotta stop playing like a sack of crap!

Im gonna cool down a little now cause ive been grinding everyday for a while. Time to take a couple days off and do some work on my game.
Have had a pretty interesting afternoon actually...well for a poker obsessive anyway. Was messing around with pokerstove and stoxcombo, playing with some hand histories. Not something ive ever really done (apart from messing in stove). Has really got my mind focused on not just preflop ranges, but continuation ranges. eg if i raise in this spot what kind of range is my opponent continuing on?

Results arent going great but i feel im playing pretty well now. My one HUGE leak tho is calling 3 bets with marginal hands. I have a mental block where i just cant fold.

    Hand:
Have no recollection of why i didnt cbet the flop. I dont think it changes a whole lot tho.

Am a little pissed with Cake at the moment.
Only way i can withdraw is to Neteller. Then I get a commission charge on the withdrawal, then i get i fixed charge for withdrawing to my bank account. I thought if i deposited by visa i could withdraw by visa from the UK. Thats my fault tho.
Plus the 6-max micros are turbo and they give you a nano second to think. if you play more than 3 tables you're really not making good decisions.
And the sodding software keeps fucking up.
And wtf are gold chips worth? Sod fucking all.
    Cant use a HUD
    Cant use a hand replayer.
And why am i playing 3 fishiest tables ive ever been on and getting killed?
Only redeeming feature is 33% rakeback.

Have to move to another site definately. Would like to go to fulltilt but i signed up through this site so cant get rakeback now. Stars is hardly worth it for anyone under 25NL at least. Probably gonna withdraw, take the hit and move to betfair. I've got 30% rakeback there, and i think HEM/PT are compatible. Not sure why i didnt redeposit there in the first place. Anyone got any other suggestions?

So, i have a couple of ciders over ice to make myself feel better in the heat, and what do you know, i just cant resist playing some poker.
I was supposedly on an enforced rest, but i just FUCKING LOVE playin poker at the moment. Lost a couple of buy-ins or so early on which made me think playing was a bad idea and then i lost a bigish pot full house vs full house and the guy called me a fish. That comment just made something click and it super motivated me. After that i played about as good as i can.

BR is now at $202.74. I always thought id just move up at $200 but im not so sure now. $60 or so of that was my starting deposit and rakeback. In actual play i've won about $138 over just under 20k hands. I believe im a winning player at this level which makes me feel i should just play 10NL. However, I feel my game really came together when i had a decent bankroll for 4NL (30 BIs). I really started to play MY game after that.
I guess i'll probably just fire up a couple of tables of 10NL and move down at $180 if it doesnt work out. That might seem a little conservative, but grinding out 4NL takes a lot of time.
  24. #24
Horrible day today. Was one of THOSE poker days lol. Lost $50 just getting killed. When i raised i missed every flop and cbet was just burning money for me lol. Maybe i shoulda quit earlier, but i wasnt tilting and felt that id played ok and was really unlucky. Then I got even unluckier and lost 3 big all-ins v quickly.
So my start to 10NL reads:

    05/07/09 = +$1.52
    06/07/09 = +$13.91
    07/07/09 = -$51.88

    Ouch!

Is not a problem tho, will just move back down to 4NL and grind it back up. Is all a learning experience. Some thoughts tho:

    - 20 BIs isnt actually a lot for any level.
    - Losing a few BIs at your new level is losing a ton of BIs at your previous level (lose too many and it can be hard to get back, moving down is v important)
    - Moving up on 20 BIs and Playing 4+ tables is dumb (although I only ever play 4 tops anyways).

Last point is super important. So many things can go wrong: you could go on super tilt which is disastrous multitabling, you can get unlucky over multiple tables, you can be just playing poorly and the effects are magnified. Might sound dumb but i might set myself a minimum numbers of BIs per table. eg at least 6 BIs per table, maybe a little more, idk.

Considering it was shit day i feel really good. Like I said before, I just FUCKING LOVE playing poker at the moment so i dont really care what level im playing at. If i play my best and try to beat everyone in front of me, i think the cash and the levels etc will take care of itself.
  25. #25
Only thing moving up n down more than me is a pornstars butt. i just cannot catch a hand at 10NL. I keep getting stuffed by just about anything. Is getting pretty annoying lol.
*sighs and grinds out a bit more 4nL*
  26. #26
Ground back to 10NL...again. I keep playing terrible there tho. Not sure why im so bad lol. Im sick of being the table donk tho haha. I just kill 4NL, so is not too bad.
Cake have just started $0.03/$0.06 tables which is a great thing. Just wish they'd do the micro HU tables im always bugging support about!
  27. #27
Poker is just going horribly. Roll had gone all the way down to just $136. Ive lost lots of confidence in my game.
Booked a nice little $11 win today which helps. Roll at $147.79.

One huge leak i seem to ignore is stacking off/playing TP strong in all the wrong situations. In fact, much i as i try to play deepstacked (cause i like it)I've really been playing it horribly. I mean, if you're playing 10NL and you lose $38 pots with TP, you're never gonna do that well. Is such basic shit it makes me puke lol! Hopefully this leak is officially PLUGGED!

A couple of hands from today (and my thought process) that i think are the right kind of situations for playing TP strongly (if im wrong, leak is officially opened due to cowboy plumbing!):

HAND 1: I could have raised a tinsy little bit more preflop but is fine anyway. I suppose i couldve checked behind on the flop because i could be way ahead, with a view to extracting some value, but with the SB vs BB situation i decided to bet because he was loose and would probably think i would raise preflop w/ ATC (which as default i would) and would give me no credit on a dry board. Hitting TPTK vs his small stack size im pretty much commmitted to stacking off. After the turn he doesnt really have a river bet i can fold to.

Roll back up to $197. Things are going pretty well because i just dont give away my stack so easy anymore. Sounds bleeding obvious really. When i showdown a hand its usually a big one.
Am gonna probably grind up to $250 and then hit 10NL again. Reaching $200 and then hitting a couple of 10NL tables just hasnt worked for me. A loss of a buy in or two and im basically back down a level. I wanna give myself some leeway this time.

Sometimes i run good. which is nice:
