    Default Operation Pro

I've been pretty successful in poker, but I have always viewed it as entertainment and always blow my winnings in ways I shouldn't. That ends today. I'm officially starting the journey to become a professional player. This will be my log.

My main game will be Pot Limit Omaha/8. While I consider myself a better NLHE player, I feel there is more profit in plo/8

GOAL: $4250 in one month. (50k yearly)

    4/26 $500

I would have been up today, but I only made it even. Why is that? I decided to play in the $150 torny today... These are the things I NEED TO STOP DOING.

    2600 hands 20% flops $13/100

Very strong night to pull me up for a good start. I have been playing 4 tables for quite awhile today and it feels like I'm coming out of my downswing. I saw so many flops because of the extremely poor play at the low PL o/8 on party.

Good luck. Do you know how much you've made per month in the past?

Bad string of cards and a bunch of suckouts in a row dropped me a bit. 66$ of that is 3 tournies i played that didn't pan out. I didn't play as many hands as I would have hoped, only around 1500. I feel with 1000 more hands I win today and balance the dayly swing more.

I actually enjoyed the day. Even getting suckedouts I only made 1 move I might consider 'tilt'. I stayed calm and just made the correct desicions and let the cards play themselves. This is a weekness I'm working with.

I am typically a winning player. The only numbers I have are +$4000 this year that went to paying bills, not my bankroll, and $3500 last summer playing 3-4 $20 tounies a week (not online). I have never actually played seriously, more for fun and profit.

    500 hands

Morning session went well. Only was a 3 hour session, because i slept til 10am! Not much to note.

And while I'm in the middle of typing this I play my last hand. AAK2 vs AA27. We are both allin preflop and he scoops. So what was a profitable morning turns into a wash

This hand was a complete coinflip, and I always always lose my coinflips

Why put everything behind a coin flip? find better situations to get your money in there.
I built my own poker table... Check It Out

you are playing 400 pl omaha/8 and your roll is just over $700..sounds a little overextended to me

Right, but how do I know this is a coinflip? PPer didn't flip over his cards and show me them. This is like flopping a straightflushdraw in holdem. Sure, he could have flopped 2pair, and you could be a coinflip, but you are not folding this. What if you have AA and he has AA. Your a coinflip, but I don't think you will be folding your AA..

Worst case I'm a coinflip, best I have him killed. You put all your chips in every time with this situation. Anyone who doesn't is losing money. This isn't a torny where if I lose I'm out for good

I was just in a hand AA24 vs KK23 vs AKQ2 Everyone put it all in preflop, and I was a huge favorite and scooped. This is why.

And I'm not playing 400pl. I was, when I was playing with $8000, but i haven't updated my profile

I really didn't get many hands in tonight, only about 750. I've been really busy with other things. If I hit my 2k hands/day then I'm up at a good profit.

    Where are you playing?
I am not a great 8/b player, but I would like to see you in action.
To win in poker you only need to be one step ahead of your opponents. Two steps may be detrimental.

I'm done for the day because of engagements i need to attend tonight. I played 100pl 3 tables all day and charted about 600 hands. I feel I made some bad mistakes that I definately need to fix.

Don't tell me you are going pro on that bankroll....

I would like to sound encouraging and all, but this is madness!

Strong day at 100pl. My bankroll is increasing at a very solid rate, faster then I had expected. At this rate the operation might be finished by the end of summer, and that would be great.

Right, that is why this is 'Operation' Pro, so that when I do hit my goal I have the cash to play fulltime.

The only thing that limits you is YOURSELF

I hear that rakeback won't be lasting much longer on Party and skins.

    Do tell...

And I think that would make a mistake as people will migrate to sites that do offer that.

This includes my play on sunday, which I don't have numbers for. I placed 4th in the 30+3 200 man Pl o/8 torny this afternoon. That was for 480 (i think). I have had really really cold cards today, even during the torny. I have never placed 4th and been so dissapointed. I should have tooken at least 2nd.

On another note, that puts me up over $1000 in 8 days since the start. Very good start for me!

This was a bad evening. The one main mistake cost me about $150, and is one of those dumb plays a pro doesn't make. These are becoming fewer and fewer, but 1 is too many. Besides that, I really only got a few cards/flops that I liked and didn't get paided off on any of them... My stats were excellent though, which is one of the most important things to me. As these improve so will the bankroll.

I was in a 10+1 7card and a 20+2 30kG NLholdem tornie and both of them I was playing extremely well, and in both of them I caught a streak of bad luck and missed the money. All the tornies I make the Final Table I never start nearly as good. That's discouraging, but at least I know not to throw everything away at the start.

I don't even want to post this. Placed 9th for 185$ in a plo/8 torny. Should have gotten 2nd or 3rd easily. Terrible night of poker all around.

    but hey, somehow I won.

So I took a break after falling apart on the Final Table and came back at about 2am just to see a few hands before bed. Was able to catch some big big fish and win some nice pots.

One thing to note. I have been trying to always play back around to my BB instead of just leaving the table like I normally do. I did some math today, and this, in the long run, will make me at least a couple thousand per year in the long run. I did it for the first time today and caught 2 hands and put me up an extra $70.

Thats a good point - I think everyone should try to do this. Since I started playing with $1 blinds, its kinda made me wonder how much money Ive passed on already by just skipping out of the table in the middle of an orbit.

YOu don't automatically win money by staying at the table, don't forget. I can't count the times I've lost my stack by leaving because I "wasn't in the right mind" to play poker.

    Just a thought.
