HI GUYS!

So I've been the mod of this forum for a while now but I haven't ever had a thread here. I kinda want one but then I also keep a blog on wordpress, so it seems kinda dumb to have one.

I really like the interaction you get when posting on forums, though, so I figured I'd just update this thread when I update my wordpress blog. This also gives me a place to post dumb hands that make me laugh.

I kinda wrote a 2010 recap today. Basically I was +$19k for the year playing poker part time which I am happy with, especially considering I was break even after 7 months of poker. I pretty much ran like death at the start of the year and then ran great at the end.

My only real goal for 2011 is to play 4k MTTs. Although I'm pretty much desperately avoiding getting a full time 9-5 job at the same time, so I guess I need to make some money too

I've been thinking about this hand from the $22 1R1A today. Villain is a very good player who finished near the top of the PS TLB in 2010. He's friends with my bf so I'm assuming that he might know I am not completely terrible.

I'm just wondering... is his river bet ever not a value bet?

AQ hand. I'm no tourney player so I have no clue. But do ppl really c/c FD's/OESD's instead of cbetting?

I'd prob bet turn for value again, and b/f. Check behind river if called. I think there's more value betting flop/turn on this runout than betting flop, checking turn and betting river.

I am inclined to agree with you, Is. I think I wanted to check the turn because at the time I thought it would be easy to call most rivers. I also wanted to avoid a turn raise because I felt like it would be gross if he did so, and I thought he might raise me often with a heart draw.

But I agree that he probably doesn't check flush draws on the flop, so can I think about something other than a fold if I bet the turn and he raises?

If you're a new player reading this and you haven't decided whether or not to play cash games or tournaments, you should play cash games unless you are okay with going insane.

If you are thinking about playing tournaments full-time, don't do it without a 400 buy-in bankroll and minimum 6 months living expenses in the bank. Otherwise you run the risk of going even more insane than usual.

Some of you already know that I have been trying to get on the PokerStars Big Game. I apparently made it to the last step of the selection process which was a video interview on Skype (which I had today). 20 of us made it this far, but only 4 of us are going to be picked.

Fingers crossed for me please! At least I only need a 2 outer I'll hear back in a few weeks either way.

I feel bad, so I'll add that the women in the venetian deep stack events were almost all pretty good and had a much higher ratio of good players than the men did.

haha umm well I don't have a very high opinion (in general) of women players, so don't feel bad...

The $1k was definitely tougher than I expected, however, although it could have just been my table since I played mostly there the entire day. Obv I get seated 2 to the right of Vanessa Peng who is minko23 on PS and ranked on p5s. I also get seated with Victoria Coren and a number of players that obviously play online and/or have boyfriends that are high stakes pros. I also get seated with a girl that made the final table last year.

Overall it's not like the table was any tougher than any normal MTT with guys in it, I was just expecting a table full of terrible players (like I'm used to in ladies events and like I played with in the qualifiers online).

I'm probably gonna try to write a PCA TR later today or tomorrow.

When I know I'm playing a long day of tournaments, I always make sure I have food ready to go. Having no time to eat during the day is one of the worst things about being a tournament player, and this is my way of solving that problem.

Not yet! They're definitely working on it as we speak, though. Last week I got two phone calls from different members of the production team for information about my education and photos of my family (prepare for a boring backstory on me, lol). Of course I was conveniently in the UK and couldn't help them much. One of the assistants left me a voicemail, sent me an email, and even added me on Facebook to try to get the info :P

I hope that they'll tell us as soon as they know the dates.

I had some Nestle white chocolate and was pretty impressed, but that's as far as I got!

Two food chains from the UK that I really wish we could have here: Wagamama and Pret a Manger. I think I could have eaten at Wagamama every day and been happy. And Pret was so awesome because it's really fast food and not horrible for your health.

Dundee was pretty cool. London was AMAZING. I can't wait to go back!

The shows will air online for sure. I haven't heard about showing on Canadian TV yet, but my guess is that they will show. They're still showing reruns on Sportsnet, so I can't think of a reason why they won't show my season.
