    Default Op: Pwning 400nl** & Pro Bball

    Well Herro,

    Well I just won $100 at 100nl after playing the worst session Ive played in a long long time. Totally god awful plays and very unfocused.

    Im hoping to get back on the train tracks plus I kinda like blogging about poker.

    BR 5K

    When im over 5k im playing on mixing a 200nl table into my 4 tbling session. In the past ive gone for just all tables been 200nl which has not suited me so ill take a more gradual approach this year.

    Ok heres a spot that should be easy enough to conclude. This was a hand I played last night, imo I didnt play the hand well at all but in my defense I think I was tilting at the time. So this hand may turn out to be fine but Im very unhappy regards my focus and thought processing at the time which was ''fuck this, shove'' lol. Usually QQ is plenty to go allin here and as I hopefully move up will be less and less a fold preflop.

    Stacks:
    UTG Hero ($128.13)
    UTG+1 smirnoff ($83.25)
    CO gwerty84 ($192.36)
    BTN Skinny58 ($65.55)
    SB HSBURN ($108.43)
    BB Balian123 ($40.01)

    Pre-flop: ($1.50, 6 players) Hero is UTG
    Hero raises to $4, 2 folds, Skinny58 calls $4, HSBURN raises to $17.50, 1 fold, $13.50 to Hero ($124.13)?

    The 3better has a very tight range vs UTG open. Plays 18/15 but also note the caller on button has only 66bb which backs up a very tight range that 3better will play with. Also a lesser point is short BB too.

    Vs QQ+,AKs,AKo we are 40% to win. Lets also figure we have no FE since imo is he really ever going fold once he 3bets here, very unlikely.

    EV=(EV(fold))*X + (EV(call))*(1-X)

    EV they fold is obv the whole pot 4+4+17.50+1=26.50

    EV when they call 40%(108.43+108.43+4+1=221.86) Less cost of shove (108.43-4=112.43) :: Note: since we figure no FE then shoving and 4bet calling are same.

    EV = 26.50 * 0 + .40(221.86) - 112.43 * (1-0)

    EV = -$23.69

    Well now I can figure I did make a bad play, was def a fold preflop. Also note that if QQ isnt in opponents range things dont change much at all as we are still 40% against KK+,AKs,AKo. If we remove AK offsuits from his range we are 27% to win.

    In reality Im pretty certain he wont 3bet JJ or anything funky since im UTG with a shorty caller.

    Nice straight forward post to start my blog.

    Heres a hand I just played horribly horribly horribly. Guy was 21/1 ver about 200 mined hands, he posted. Im not gonna put anything in detail but turn is an obvious fold. This hand tilted me lol, wth poster minraise me argh!

    Hero lost -$94.37

    Also Ive been thinking abit about changing up my isolation raises. usually im 3x bb from CO and BTN as an open but with limpers Ive still 5xbb most times. I think thats fine IP and all and since cb'ing is profitable in itself, Ive lately incorporated a smaller iso of 4xbb when 1) Opp stacks are shorter thus im not losing much but not building up pot earlier 2) Opp is a station or doesnt fold to cb much at all 3) A much lesser point but im not getting squeezed very much at 100/200nl so its ok too.

    Played a solid session today, 200nl tables were softer looking than 100nl so I took a shot. Hit me in the face within a few hands with my KK vs AA vs fish allin preflop, that was at a euro table which hurt the most. Yet I grinded it out to make $60 overall at 100nl and 200nl, down $100 at 200nl overall so wasnt bad. Think i played well and hopefully I can turn my 200nl into profit.

    Just had a quick look over my hands and theres nothing crazy to post.

    Nothing to comment on in blog, just wanna say that your analysis of hands lately has been really top notch. I think you've improved a lot. I think I'll be hitting you up more on msn in the near future to get help with this stuff.

    Well after bigred called me a nit and Griff gave me his luckbox I played a second sesh for +$110 at 200nl and -$500 at 100nl. HEM says im down $390 but its actually $350 after translating some euro tables. So 1st sesh was a nasty -$550 followed by +$200. I did get within -$200 for the day till I got stacked at 200nl euro table, AKo UTG vs BB 38/28 aggro CR'er with 87 on A87fd blank turn. C'est la vie.

    Got a couple hands ill work on today to post later.

    Played 2 sessions last night,1st +$123 at 100nl only and 2nd $317 at 200nl only. Griffey was around and thankfully wanted to rail for abit so I obv load up 200nl tables

    All i can say is he is goot!! There were spots where id make folds that to him were easy calls/raises. Def got a shitload to learn. Granted theres a difference between his normal games and my games been much less aggro but was def fun sesh.

    Some hands from last nights sessions;

    Hand 1

    Opp was about 43/12 or so. No history in big pots vs opp.

    River: ($83, 2 players)
    KARPPI37 bets $96.90, $96.90 to Hero ($213.45)?

    Hand 2

    Opp gave us some trouble a fair amount and 3bet us a ton later.
    Later we learned he can flat JJ in this spot and CR low flops which would obv make our flop call bad. If we knew that before this spot we would prob have to fold.

    Discussing with Griff that in his games this is pretty much the nuts, opp is aggro enough to do some stuff. I shoved (mostly due to timing down panic ) but raising to $100 is best since 98 could spaz out etc. When we shove we dont give opp much room to make a mistake.

    Hand 4

    Opp is Triptanes lol, dunno if he remembers my SN here but he called me a fucking idiot in chat lol. Was obv going for riv c/bomb since I was certain he was gonna bet riv.

    Yah good session dude, I'm glad i can help. I haven't railed too many people, I worry about suggesting that people do spewy things! I probably take a more nitty approach if I'm railing someone haha.

    I guess that's why I said fold the AA hand, but I'm glad you called.

    The AQ is not the "nuts" perse, and we'll obviously lose to 67/66/77 sometimes. But when people are essentialy only repping sets, then you can't really fold unless they are mega nits. He can also be raising 45, 89, 9T, who knows maybe even KQ.

    But yah, shoving is definitely bad, if he's gonna fold those draws, and only call better hands. If there was a FD, a shove would be better, cause people would call with the nut FD and we have his ace covered.

    Thx griffey, i def have respect for your game and Im not afraid of losing a buyin even when moving up since ill be winning the money back anywho.

    Funny that AA hand tho;

    Me :: I really feel I wanna call him here

    You :: If your in calling mood then call

    Me :: Agree? Cool Im gonna call

    You :: Yea call, if I was to put him on a hand Id say hmm 43

    Me :: (in thought) WTF lol

    Yo trip I said shit in chat when you joined the table as I always do when you join. I def felt you would of bet that river tho.

    lol... well 34 yaah.. or 45 slowww played! haha... or A4s ldo

    I wouldn't have expected what he showed up with here, but I think the fact that diamonds blanked makes it more of a call. Also, he minraised turn to setup a river shove (ie: sizing for the most river fold equity), which could make it more of a call.

    Once you get to the river, I think its just a "meh, I need to be right 30%" spot, and if he can ever ever do this for value with a set then its def a snappp.

    Hmm been a while since Ive posted.

    I dropped below €5k again No big losses, I just lost 2 BIs at 100nl this week over not so many hands. I took tuesday and wednesday off since I figure I wasnt gonna play my best game. Was tired in general and poker wouldnt of been a good choice. Instead I dl some music and updated my ipod touch abit. Will be back playing online later.

    Funny how I had 5k in August 2008, all I withdrew was about $600 in Nov/Dec. In fairness tho Ive probably only gotten in less than 50k hands since. Ive been grinding as well as I can this month at almost 15k hands which is great for me. Ive mostly 6 tables 100nl. Should get some nice RB in region of $500+ I expect. Still shooting at 200nl when I see a good table

    Played 600h sesh last night for -$50 at 100nl, was up a buyin through winning small pots. just got broken down abit then no big pots lost. Moved over to FTP to play, games seem a hell of alot fishier than prima.

    BR about €4.9k

    also wtf is the story with FTP, i dont seem to be able to datamine unless at the table now. i didnt think the actually stopped u from doing it yet.

    +$33 in another session today. Thatll round out my month now since Ive to go to a chris brown gig with gf. Was doing well in todays game but ran QQ into KK on T high flop in 3bet pot, i prob should of folded pre vs nit utgvsBB IP. Got unlucky with AK allin pre 140bb deep vs 77, board was AxxK but all spades which he had another. SO meh session but al least I cam eout with profit. Again FT is way easier than prima lol.

    Played about 30 minute sesh last night, +$134 i think. Again still on FTP. Fairly straightforward but pulled off a sweet bluff for 30bb win, will post it when im home since Ive not got HH in work.

    I may try post some graphs later too, throw in month end stuff. Didnt win a whole lot this month, shots at 200nl did go bad or great with a slight loss. small wins at 100nl. Did play a load more hands than usual at 16k which im really happy about.

    So, you think 6-max at FTP is a better option than most Euro sites?

    Based on my through enough time at prima most definitely. What kept pulling me back to prima was 70% RB. Got $481 in Jan RB there over about 12k hands roughly, interesting to see what I can get at FTP over same amount of hands keeping in mind Im not sure if the 70% rb was dealt or contributed.

    Prima is probably the nittest sites, in general it does take longer to breakdown nits. More about winning tons of tiny pots.

    Plus I love FTP software, Im finding I also have way more time to relax and play poker. Tables dont hop around they wait till your finished at one b4 another pops up, no more typing in bets as you can use mouse scroller to make bet size. Everything is easier Yay

    I agree on FTP, but I believe that other Euro sites are way softer then FTP ...
  30. #30
    Which ones do you reckon?

    I know everest 100nl FR is still fairly soft, Im not sure about the 6max games tho since Ive not played them much but since the software is so slow there and no bonuses pretty much makes it a bad option for me. Ive been hearing the games are tougher there than other sites nowadays but im not sure. iPoker is nitty too.

    btw jimmy Ive got your msn so its cool if you hit me up sometime. Tho I cant remember exactly how i got it

    I haven´t played at everest for a while, I agree on ipoker being quite nitty. Ongame on the other hand can be considered "soft". With some table selection 50nl plays like 10nl and 100nl isn´t much harder. The software however has potential to tilt one to death.

    Lol this thread turned into, lets post some hands I butchered!!!

    Lets post some hands, may as well start off with a horrible hand. Not until I posted this did I realise I didnt flop an OESD. For some reason my mind seen a JT9 flop

    #1 - Previously I cold 4bet JJ and got allin vs 3better AKo. Over a tiny sample this guy was raising every hand almost (turned into a loose reg by the time this hand came arnd) but was his first 3bet, I didnt wanna cold call a 3bet so I opted to go to variance town. Ive 3bet him some since and also folded to a 4bet from him. On flop I though I had an OESD and was going for a CR. I assumed he wont be folding much but Im not in good shape if i gotta b/f flop so i opted to c/r hoping his range for betting is much wider.

    I think I shoved too quickly on turn but tbh his flop check coupled with a turn minraise just made little sense. perhaps calling would be a better play and fold to a river bet. Thinking about it im not sure since I got mind fucked but calling was probably bets play since Im just turning QQ into a bluff, ofc you could say Im protecting against pairs plus draw type hand but they just dont minraise turns for kicks. Def a call imo even if i have an OESD or this flop.

    Hero checks, TypeRob0211 checks

    Turn: ($32, 2 players)

    #2 - Talked this hand with griffey a while back. The turn is either a call or a fold, opp is betting a tiny amount on turn that drawing is okay. If the bet is any bigger then we fold, instead I spazzed to quick and shoved. Again it seems I tend to spaz shove when I think opps are bluffing and turning my own hand into a bluff unnecessarily. Maybe this is something I should look into further in future.

    Hmm infact if I cb I may aswell just shove.

    #3 - opp is a total nit but does like to do stupid stuff. Ive seen him call 3bets OOP with mid PPs before and spaz in those spots. My call once I cb is an easy one btw since ive 25% equity over PPs BUT cbing the flop is stupid bcoz while PPs certainly arent folding we are still way ahead of all nonpaired hands! So checking down should of been my play and is the bets play. Also my 4bet pre is kinda small since opp actually made a larger than usual 3bet size at these stakes, im sure that this is opp std 3bet size but still uncommon at these stakes. 4betting 30-32 is best tho not a major difference.

    Oh yeah, stars and FT are eons ahead of the other sites for interface. I still cant believe Everest doesnt pop to front, but DOES steal focus, thats just dumb.

    Yeah, for sure start looking for spots where your hand has showdown value and if you shove you only get called by better. Tired, might look closer tomorrow.

    Hand 1 - Yah I like it. I don't mind betting flop either

    Hand 2 - Well yah the choice is definitely between fold or call. But I never fold, so its 100% call I can't imagine what better hands would fold to your raise here that often.. depends on villain.

    Hand 3 - meh vs a nit I just give up post. Depending how nitty, I might not even 4 bet AK.

    Played some last night, up a buyin at 100nl and breakeven exactly at 200nl. Was up a buyin at 200nl before I made a bad allin preflop decisions with AKs, opp had KK. imo I pressed the allin gambol button but I knew I was beat and made a bad decision.

    i got 481 from RB for Jan tho too.

    Played another session today but just at 100nl, won a buyin. Wasnt up for a 200nl since I abit wrecked from a semi final basketball game I had this morning. I scored 38 points which is my season best next to 35 points. Yay but finals 2m at 11am and up against a very tough team who beat us badly during the season.

    Anyway roll is around 6.1k

    Quick update;

    Fucked up a muscle between my ankle tendon and lower calf, it feels like ive 2 tears across that area. Id say itll heal up tho as I had as similiar pain awhile back.

    Lost the final bball game on Sunday, scored 27 points for highest scorer again. within 4 points of leaders at start of 4th qtr, jumped and teaked my calf and came down like a bag of spuds. stayed on but not as effective.

    Last night I got inpatient and bought a 6 month trial at bluefirepoker. Def very good from the 2 vids ive seen. Plus CR says I can buy free subs through FTP so happy days.

    Hand 1 - Is fine, I prob bet turn harder

    Hand 2 - lol reads?? Fine once in a while if you KNOW he's capable of 4bet folding often

    Hand 3 - I check back turn, given his bet sizing on flop. I think he's pretty polarized to air or we're owned. I wouldn't expect this kind of in between hand from someone too often.

    Hand 4 - he's a fish, so I SNAP fold turn.

    Sucking out at 200nl is qualittty

    Back from my weekend away with the gf on sunday, im not engaged or anything.

    Back in work yday obv but had a session later that day. Played 200nl and was up +$400 but dropped back to +$265 when I finished up. Had some good and bad spots, Ive a shit load of leaks imo but I will slowly improve I hope plus I know 200nl players in general have either the same leaks or dont exploit anyway.

    A big concept Ive been thinking of is spots where opp is either VBing or bluffing. For example on a 42Q7K board SB vs BB Hero, opp cb flop, checks turn, bets river. Since he likely doesnt have a Q is repping K or bluff, He wont play any other pair the same thus it doenst matter if I have Qx or 55 here as they are basically the same hand. This is obv vs an aggressive opp, if river was an A then its different bcoz he has all Ax hands in his opening range but not all Kx hands. Also a similiar flop could be 46T2Q flop, basically where he views river card as a scare card when it really isnt.

    EDIT:: BR at about $7363
    Jman: every time the action is to you, it's an opportunity for you to make the perfect play.
  65. #65
    In that example you gave, I probably bet almost my entire range on the turn there bvb if he's checking to me. I'll continue to do this until I notice he's capable of betting the flop and then c/c the turn with some kind of decent hand.

    I bet turns more than most people though. I'm not the turn pot control type!

    God im so fucking tilted right now, Ive stopped playing. Was up 315 or so playing well then I lose SMALL pot after SMALL fucking pot. I lose pretty much every hand for last 30 minutes and now Ive $10 to show for it. Im not messing, I only have 4 losing hands that amounted to more than $25 invested in the entire session.

    Those suck for some reason. It was the same in the session I had with Casey, was down three buyins got back to down 1 buyin then the last 10 mins or so seemed uneventful but checked my results and I'd lost nearly another buyin just from a bunch $5 pots.

    Ian - congrats on GS!!!!

    But don't fret about your last session. Being at 200NL is da bomb, teach me.

    It was amazing to find I literally got chipped away. I was thinking that perhaps there may of been spots where I could of continued in the hands but then I felt meh, some total fish was minraising my air, nits donking etc. Im feeling fine now, very glad I quit playing and had a bit to eat then watched some PLO video. I find that game really interesting tho Id suck major balls at it I assume.

    Thanks guys, I just seen myself that the video is up now. Im excited and hope I get some positive feedback.

    Still playing well at 200nl, SuWheat

    played 1000 hands last night 4-6 tabling 200nl 6max, I mostly only play 5 or 6 tables when Im just table selecting then getting off other tables. Basically just transitioning through tables. But I also find if i play 5 tables I spew less too.

    Anyway I won +$435 I think, gonnd post a few fun hands.

    #1 - opp is a reg about 25/22, I just needed to do something a little creative on turn to get his non-Q holdings to play on.

    Had all day to play some poker, I played 100nl to start the day since I had a few beers last night and wasnt quite awake. played about 600 hands for -$60 roughly. Went meh okay, I dont remember too much apart from getting away with AA vs a set. meh cooler tho nowadays.

    Had a second 100nl, finished -%50 overall so yay +$10 2nd session. Now its weird that I remember nothing at all of this session. I dont even remember playing it for another 600 hands, I can only guess I had a quick break form the first session then straight into this

    All that was during the daytime while gf was at work mates funeral. She is also gone out with her gfs since I was supposed to mind my lil bro but that was cancelled so i had all night to play so I loaded up the 200nl tables

    Too major hands here and are my biggest pots of 2009;

    All was not rosy in the garden tho. I made it back in the blank early in the session to lost 2 allin 50/50 and was down $380 overall for the day. Grinded back to even to then lose another 50/50, I had QQ and AK lose to AK and QQ lol but also had AcQc lose to 86dd on 4d8cQs allin on flop which is exactly 50/50.

    I again grinded back up and this included the hands we see above, but then bamm someone somewhere (ie griffey) activated a boomswitch!!!!! BOOM +$633 FOR THAT DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    FUCKING AY
